Whoa, look at that! I say continue on with the experiment, imagine the number of bud sites that will be on those plants. It seems that they would require extra care when it comes to watering, but it sure would be a great experiment to test out. If you have the time, space, and extra care to give them, do it! The MellowKittyCrop...just for shits and giggles: (and hey, it's a PIC, although not what you were hoping for...)this is an experiment in supercrop/LST/something/??? these girls fell over whilst being babysat and somehow ended up staying like that for a few days.... we just asked them to leave them like that to see what happens (we are maxed out on our allowance right now). i *think this is after about a week or so if i remember correctly. i have no idea what's next for these girls... ? what would you do?

@ puffntuff: yeah, this is full-on "let's see what happens, sorry girls" mode.... although it would be fun to see if you could lst that lateral development after they turn rightsideup... hmmm something to think about.

just imagine, vertical in dirt! although i knew some folks back in the day that filled their 'cage' system with soilless but to me that just seems like you're asking for trouble (or at least a pain in the ass). come to think of it, i never did find out how well they did....

Kitty, you could transplant into really big pots and keep them the plants and root ball leaning, but have the new pot upright. This way you could just water as usual. What kind of yield per/plant have you seen with the Bubbas using the Baverb technique?

All I can say about Bubbas are that the quality of our pheno is second to none...everything else seems to be a let down. I'm constantly giving Helper D new samples to try of other strains people give me...and it's always the same answer "It's good...really good...no where near our Bubba...but good".
I used to thin out the small diameter shoots, but then noticed that, as long as they get enough light, even the smallest branches produce very nice nugs on top and several nodes down. They key to its yield is the density of the buds. I look at a dried pile and think "about 3 lbs"...we weigh it and it's 4lbs.
We feed N all the way through. Cutting Edge Micro has 6% N and is fed at 8ml/gallon according to directions. We feed at 4ml/gallon all the way to the flush. I add 5ml/gallon of Grow the first 3 weeks...basically till the stretch is all over and I have nice hairy tops everywhere. Then, it's Micro and Bloom. They seem to use WAY more K than P throughout the budding cycle. We have never had a nute blemish in any leaf until the flush. We feed at 1000ppm, and I will flush whenever my waste water exceeds 1300ppm, which is rare.
I also noticed the Bubba does well with less light than our Laughgani...which is a light, nute, and water hog. Our Bubba tops are near done at 6 weeks, while a few nodes down will go the whole 8 weeks. Next round we will raise the lights a little to slow the tops down and let them fill out a little more before the trichs go cloudy. All in all the word of the day with Bubba seems to be moderation.
We tried thinning some fan leaves once during veg, once week 2 of bloom, and 2 or 3 large upper leaves every other day all the way through bloom. On some we didn't remove any. The plants thinned produced bigger buds low in the plant, and the loss of leaves did not have any negative effect.
I know you didn't ask for this, but since it's your first Bubba run, I though I'd share our experiences with this beautiful strain. If someone could just breed one to yield about 3 times more it would be the perfect weed. Until then, quality before quantity.

as it stands now my only experience with bubbas were in a room that eventually became *inundated* with pm... (he's one of those lackadaisical growers who thinks his state-of-the-art room should trim his product and make his deal for him too though). i never actually *smoked any of it as he went into full-on hormones and steroids and antifungal sprays and burners 'limp through to the end' mode about halfway thru and i was disgusted beyond words. (sad!) on top of everything else, i have sulphite intolerance issues; i don't think pm'y weed with oxidated sulfur traces would be good medicine for me. gak. just the smell in his room almost made me break out in hives.
i think we're going to do start with a side-by-side using our current nutes (grotek solo tek) and dirt (soilless + mushroom manure) for this run to see what it does compared to the og, which is like a slightly predictable friend by now. a familiar strain is the next best thing to a 'control group', right? of course, we'll tweak it as her needs change. i'm not expecting to finish up at the same nute rate as the ogs at any rate. from what i've seen, pre-emptive tomato cages might be something to think about?
i have realised from one of our conversations that there are a couple of strains that i MISS... all non-kush strains. hubby doesn't know it yet but i've already earmarked a budget off the next round that's going directly into the hands of dr. atomic. tee hee hee.

we love greenhouses. yup, those are ballasts. quantum 1000ws. digi ballasts are so sleek-looking compared to mag coils eh? (tbh i've always found them kinda sinister-looking. in transformers-speak mag coils would be deceptecons and digis would be autobots). i think it's a brand colour thing; the badboy t5s we have by them have orange housings too.

I'm in Okinawa already. I'll be waiting for a couple of hours for a flight out (not exactly sure where we are flying into). No departure date yet. That makes me a little nervous, but we're looking at 2-4 weeks probably.

Gawd...the chemical grow is freaking me out just envisioning it. We do use Hydro Solution, but that's it. We found that low RH and trimming of stacking leaves eliminates most Powdery problems. I have an OG that will get powdery well before anything else. It's our canary in our coal mine. We always keep one small one in bloom. If she getts the fuzzies, we drop the RH to 30% and do a thorough cleanup. Fortunately, she's clean so far. I will not have sulfur in my room. Yuck!
I'm interested in your use of mushroom compost. There is a HUGE mushroom farm not 1/4 mile from where we live. My wife has an organic medical edibles business, so I need to grow some organic plants for her in each crop. How do you use the compost? How do u know if it's any good? I've just been using Roots Organic potting soil and feeding with Earthjuice MicroBlast, Bat Poopie, Kelp, and Worm Tea. The plants are healthy, but grow kinda slow. I've heard that mushroom compost is the real deal. Any advice on it's proper use would be appreciated by myself and my wife, who is always waiting for more organic product. She has more needy patients than her "organically challenged" hubby can provide for.

well, buddy from said room apparently used something called 'shooting powder' that hubby's making 'humna humna' noises about - i myself know nothing about what it is or how it works etc. etc. buddy swears up and down that it's the reason he pulled a decent yield off that room. which he did. (yeesh, hubby and i both help with plant maintenance there and we'd've started spraying milk a full 2 weeks before buddy did anything - and milk is one of our last resorts after dramatically lowering rh and a thorough cleanup, like you guys). me personally i couldn't get out of there and into the shower fast enough after that trim. imagine my co-worker's surprise when i gave him all my gloves and scissorhash.
i hate sulfur as well. *if* the need for it arises it doesn't go beyond vegging in our room. *if. gak.
we also have a big mushroom farm closeby, although we get most of our dirts (and everything else, really) from this one crazy nursery where they have *everything* from cacti to exotics to citrus to koi. it's family-run and they are really knowledgeable. hubby says you can tell it's good dirt by the smell. the last round we grew we did a side-by-side, mixing soilless (one of the sunshine mixes - i forget which one - whichever one doesn't have the nutrient charger in it) half/half with horse manure and mushroom compost. we both preferred the mushroom compost product, on our og it definitely gave the pine-y-er, sativa-y pheno. you know, pointier buds. THAT smell. we also feed with grotek's nute lineup which is another one of those old predictable 'friends' - i would be lost without vitamax and calmax for troubleshooting. their products are either organic or earthsafe, although apparently they have a new 100% organic lineup which is only available in canada yet that i find intriguing. i wrote a thread in the organics section asking if anybody had tried it but nobody bit.
as soilless growers making the transition to living dirt, we're trying to get to know our additives as manageably as possible, and so far we both approve of the local mushroom compost.
does your wife know anything about citric acid extractions? there was a guy whose brain i was picking here but he dropped off the face of the planet over a week ago and i still have questions....
