Megacrop

This megacrop thread is popping, the other one in the nutrient section is lacking. Anyways is has anyone experience with airy buds or foxtailing when using megacrop? I'm noticing airy buds on strains that should be denser. It's still early on but it seems that the buds aren't filling like they used to when I was running another line. I just read there might too nitrogen for flower that could be causing it.

See, I have worried about this exact problem if I were to start using it. Flora Trio results in a good end product but MC has super high Nitrogen and even MORE SO in their CalMag. More than any other product I've seen at 13%N.5&3 Cal and Mag.

Just to help you evaluate some here is my input. I also know you've had better results on those trouble strains with other nutes.
I have some strains that are naturally more airy than others. Mega hasn't seemed to have changed that trend towards harder much. Maybe a little. But my usual harder strains are more hard on mega than before. Not much help I know. Doesn't really cover your issue.
for me it's working ell in flower with th P-K added and some Cal-mag.
Although before adding the cal-mag it was still very good. I'm just experimenting a bit with cal-mag to see if it helps.
I'm using some HPS and LEDS in the same room. I knew you'd ask.

How much are you using per gallon? Using any additives? Usually those issues you described are from excess heat, any issues with that? Maybe try lowering the rate of mc and add in some pk boost.

Here, that pic from off the internet is horrible quality. You can't even read it.
This is one I just took from my own Gal Bottle. Hope Ya like the percentages. Maybe you'll consider it?

I was looking to see what the Greenleaf calmag is but don't see it listed.
I heard of calimagic but don't know much about it. Someone here must be using it.
Not even sure if I need it. I was trying to use mine up and thought I'd see if it helps. It might be.
Incredibly massive difference as you can see. SO MuCH NITROGEN!!!!! Why!?!back-2.png
Broken down to match CaliMagic it's
6.5% N
5.5% Cal
1.75% Mag

Damn near perfectly identical if it weren't for all that STUPID NITROGEN!!!

I'll look later too see what I'm using right now..thanks..let's keep talking. Looking forward to some other opinions as well.
I agree nitrogen doesn't seem to need to be increased in flower.
What say yeh guys?

That's a known fact. Not up for discussion really. That's the whole reason I use GH Cal.
Only, one company I know of that's doing something about it, is GrowMore Mendocino FLOWERING CalMag.402236.jpg

Clearly both CM and GLN are using Magnesium Nitrate for their Mag source, it's just that CM has opted to use Calcium Glucoheptonate as a large portion of the calcium source, reducing the nitrogen concentration. Are there any drawbacks to using that form of calcium? What does that Mendocino use for a Magnesium source?

Im showing mag issues at 4g/GAL going to have to try some CalMag. If anyone is using epsom salts what amount are you feeding per gallon?

I use photosynthesis plus, kelp and humic acid on top of mc. I don’t know how much per gallon, i just get my ec up 1.7-1.8 in flower right now. Mu room is at 82F woth co2.

No worries you’ve been a big help already. It’s good just to talk through it. I’m going to take this day and evaluate what I want to do. I’m on day 32 in flower so I can still get those plants to turn around. When you add cal mag what are you trying to help? Are you having deficiencies?

No problems from adding a couple organic fertilizers to the primarily chemical make-up of the rest of the mix?

Definitely noticing a lack of density in my buds, and to me, this brings me back to thoughts I've had and comments I've made on the mix being too high in Potassium and not high enough in Phosphorus.

Right I think it’s too much nitrogen. I have a variety of strains that I grow and all of them are responding differently to where I had consistency when running a different brand. I got one strain, that I posted, that just isn’t filling out. One that is foxtailing and not filling out and one that is super chunky but the lower nugs on the cola are growing above the top. So basically foxtailing from below. And yet a couple strains that are loving it and looking well.
