Matching Drivers and COBs

Hi guys, just a little of help please.
Who can help me with PAR and PPFD for ( 8 ) CLU058-1825-C4 Gen6 3500K and ( 2 ) mw-320h-c1400a for 39x39 and 47x47. Which is roughly equivalent to 1 square meter and 1.2 square meters.

Indeed I needed the second operation.
But, first example was much larger space, i think is 12.9sq.ft or 4x4 i thing, instead of 15.3.

Do you guys think ( 8 ) CLU058-1825-C4 Gen6 3500K and ( 2 ) mw-320h-c1400a for a 3x3 area, close to 1400PPFD, is too much and unnecessary?

Is it mandatory to use CO2 in this range of ppfd?
If I dimm it to 500W, how much ppfd would it be? It would be ~62.5W each 1825 instead of ~72.5W to 1400mA.

SUPER EDIT:

change of plans, i will go with 1050mA and 177lm/w. close to 410W in 3x3 will rock i think.
somebody have a citi calculator version from gen6 ?

4X4=16, No 8 cobs in 3X3=9 SF and not too much will allow you to run them less watts and closer to the plants for same PPFD.
It is never mandatory to add CO2 but highly beneficial over 1000 PPFD.

My calculator is not gen6.

if you have 90cm X 90cm grow tent it's a 3ft X 3ft = 9 SQ/ft
if you have 100cm X 100cm grow tent it's a 3.3ft X 3.3ft = 10,89 SQ/ft
if you have 120cm X 120cm grow tent it's a 4ft X 4ft = 16 SQ/ft

google is your best friend for the conversion ^^

For the calculation it is simple...

For flowering cannabis it is necessary to:
Minimum 32 Watt by SQ/ft
Mid range 50 Watt by SQ/ft
Mid range 50-80 Watt by SQ/ft

While knowing that it would require one cxb per SQ/ft to be optimal ;)


To determine how much light you need in watts?


The general rule of thumb for providing light for an area is a minimum of 32 watts per square foot but 50+ watts per square foot is optimal. You can determine the proper lighting for your area by using this formula:
50 watts (or the total watts you are using) x (your square footage).
Example: You have an area of 10 sq. ft. – 50w x 10 s.f. = 500watts/sq.ft minimum or 50 watts x 10 s.f. = 500 watts/sq. ft. (optimal).

After the choice is offered to you to choose the best configuration possible

the Great Mouse says 38w per sf is the magic number (tomatoes & cannabis...stalk stuff ) ...but i wouldn't go under 32 watts.

with that said, watts are really more of a broad guide, crappy LEDs will put out far lower par/w then good LEDs, so regardless of watts you need to run crappy cobs longer.

If you can figure out your umol/mol numbers you can really use any wattage, so long as you give your plants the correct amount of light in a 24 hour window (ideally you would want light down time to give your plants a rest).

I don't really know what plants you are growing, but if you were to grow lettuce, you would need around 15-16 mols a day. so regardless of watts per sf, you need to hit that number.

so if you are running 200 watts over a given space, with good LEDs you will hit that 15 mol number faster then with low end LED.

Excuse the noob question but been looking at 5x CITIZEN CITILED LED Chip 3500K COB module CLU048-1212C4-353M2M2-F1 Version 6.
Wondering which driver would come best recommended to power all of them. Been trying to get my head round it but struggling at the minute

they need 36 fw per cob run in series. so with 5 thats 180 fv.

They can run up to 116 watts, so if you have a big enough heatsink you can run the hell out of them

An HLG-240-1080 would work, that would get you about 50 watts per cob
or HLG-320-1750 would do it too giving you about 75 watts a cob

That is kind of what I was thinking. 75watts a cob sounds good to me. I'm hoping to be able to build something around the same price and draw from the wall about the same wattage as a cmh or cmd light. Thanks very much for taking the time to answer muleface much appreciated.

what size space are you looking to cover?

if you went with like a 320-1050 you could run 8 cobs, or with a 320-1400 you could run 6.

It would get you a little better coverage. It would also get you more light, as you would be running the cobs cooler.

4x4. I'm running a 600w in a cooltube. Had ambient temps here climb to 26c the other day. In the tent with cooltube was 34c from what I can gather you can get much more in the form of lpw and cobs run cooler. I may be wrong though still trying to work it all out

The cobs will run much cooler. Another option would be using a newer driver, HLG-480

you could run 9 cobs on this at 55 watts per cob or so.

That would get you a great spread, a ton of light, and a solid number of watts.

I personally like the A version vs the B version, the A has a built in dimmer.
That looks grand. Let me see if I can find somewhere that will ship to UK. Well I will when I wake up anyway it's 3.15am here lol. I would probably want to run 8 cobs on that though rather than the 9. You say it's already dimmable too. That's good. I wanted to add a potentiometer and voltmeter ammeter too to adjust and check the actual draw at any given time depending on what power I was pushing

a question, on simulator 1216 at 1750mA at Tc° 25C° = 35.8v
it's possible to fit n.4 1216 on MeanWell HLG-240H-C1750B (143v not open)?
1216 x 4 = 35.8v X 4 = 143.2
And how about the same config, but with 1212 gen6?
4pcs CLU048-1212 fits on a MW-HLG-240-1750?

CitiLED Simulator says 36.3V, 50°Tj and 63.5W at 1750mA = 145.2V and 254W.
HLG-240H-C1750 datasheets says 250.25W, 143V and 146V open circuit voltaje.
