im sorry but their are some nieve americans in the world and to a lot of thing other than not marijuana.
I'm sure theres plenty americans bro, just lack of knowledge and them having too much faith in our "leaders" to believe in anything different. I bet they put something in the water!! (besides floride and the other industrial chemicals they already put :-P)

Actually it's just a segment apparently, but it'll flip through a couple of things that I guess are worth watching... Montel...

You can't possibly believe any of this can you? Wow I'd hate to live in fear like that, your life must suck over there in Cooos Bay. Weather is always shitty and there's nothing to do there. I think it's driven you insane. :) Move to Portland so you can start a new life.

The only thing that show did was tell the public they cant stop us, & that the production of mj can be a huge boost to the economy. Now if people could show the governments that we dont have to kill people to grow and sell there wouldnt be a prob. But like anything theres always some asshole out ther that has to ruin it for the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with smokin1 but i also agree with oregonmeds. They could have made the documentary so much better and worth while. It should have been a 2 hour program rather than 1. Someone else mentioned on here how they didn't tell the media about how its affecting the jails by putting all the harmless marijuana offenders in there. It's ridiculous. You can take the show one way or the other. It made it look bad but beneficiery... I dunno, I definitly was NOT impressed and was pretty let down. Lets just hope the gov't pulls their head out of their ass and sees that we can really benefit from it. What really blows my mind, is that they wont even allow hemp... you can't even smoke hemp can you? We'll see what happens...

National Geo did marijuana Nation, it was a bit more fair than last nights. There show of how "violent" pot is was a joke, 1 incident where the thieves got what they deserved. But to say it's SO violent,,what about crack..meth..heroin...coke.. There is where the violence is, not pot.

The only violence associated with weed is caused by it's illegality and the insanely high prices being illegal makes it. In a legal situation there would be ZERO violence related to weed and the number of police calls for violence related to alcohol would diminish if any of those folks also smoked out or smoke instead.

Rather than some dude beating his wife he'd just be passed out on the couch ignoring her... And people wouldn't bust into a place with guns to steal plants etc if the stuff were legal and cheap.

Dont you mean the only violence associated with weed is when we get the munchies, cause I will fuck up some taco bell when I'm high.

Worst piece I've ever seen on CNBC. 1. The title was deceiving; scope was too geographically limited. 2. They made it political vs. financial and 3. The investigative reporting was about as in depth as the ghetto local news station.

Before I bash the piece, I need to point out that I love CNBC. I watch CNBC from the minute I wake up until Jim Cramer's Mad Money. I have really valued their insight, inside information (e.g. Charlie Gasporino and David Faber) and well rounded debates. All of their specials have been done very well too (e.g. American Greed mini-series, McDonalds, China)...until now. This piece made ESPN's made for TV movies: 3, The Junction Boys and Hustle look like Academy stallwarts.

"Marijuana Inc." - that sends chills down my spine. I was expecting Marijuana Inc to, at least, cover the econonmic impact in the US. Not a portion of northern California. This would be akin to covering the porn industry and only going to Van Nuys; or covering gambling and only go to Vegas; or covering investment banking and only going to New York City. Other sources have stated that West Virgina Appalachain Mountains and foothills grow more weed than anywhere else in the US. This may or may not be true, but if that is being reported on other documentaries, shouldn't have CNBC at least mentioned it? Nope, guess not; only focusing on NorCal.

On point two, CNBC really didn't dig into $ figures. I would have expected to talk more about tax revenue from the California dispensaries, more about the income tax figures (e.g. Trish could have followed up the point about the one guy paying $500k per year in income tax to extrapolate to all of California, then to a "what-if" if they were throughout the US). I would have also liked to get more details on the exact players involved and how much they make. I would have like to have seen more dollar figures on what other agencies spend on fighting marijuana vs. other drugs. Less of the administration's policy, less of the mayor of the town, less of the family that moved, less of the guy's ring 20+ years ago. More of current, economic data. Maybe compare weed today to alcohol during prohibition.

Lastly, I love Trish Regan. Her and Erin Burnette are very easy on the eyes. However, she was so dumb. Did she ever think of doing some investigation on her own before stepping into the piece? You would never see Bob Passanie down on the floor asking the traders exactly what the screens are. Or Rick Santelli asking the traders why they where different colored coats. Know what you're reporting on Trish - instead of looking stupid, state the point, then ask for details from your guest. She also rarely followed up on any of the questions. The helicopter driver at the end - how long have you been doing this? How much money do you think your department spends on fighting marijuana? How many have you stopped (how much revenue did that equate to with a voice over). Trish, ask the guy that writes Grow how much money he makes with that magazine, how many subscribers, what other publications are there (she said simply it's the porn of the pot industry).

That was one hour of my life I will never get back. Better luck next time CNBC.

^^^^^^^ True true true... No research was done to call bullshit on everything the opposition said, and that family that moved... Why did they really move? Paranoid idiots.
As if there was some health risk? Or were they worried their kids would end up smoking or growing if they stayed there?

They didn't do a single bit of research on that entire thing, just went off what they were told and accepted the same old lies as true. They should have had to watch "The Union, the business of getting high" to know the facts and how to really make a documentary and report fairly.

Decrim just passed here, and the $ figures were 30 million on law enforcement only in a state 10% the size of cali. In The true story of the Hillbillies the pot grow figure was 85% of U.S. pot production comes from Appalachia..

Excellent post and review of CNBC overall. They gave this show a once over and approved it. Giving you +rep for this post.

Trish was biased from the start. She even admits it near the beginning of the show saying "she and most of the country" were against pot.

Terrible job overall.

see, most people (especialy in california) don't care.
back in 1993 i was standing at a bus stop at a shopping mall near sandiego.
a CROWDED bus stop. two dudes sparked a joint and toked the whole thing while waiting for the
bus. About 15 people of various ages and ethnicities just ignored it. I WAS ASTONISHED.
but happy. Sometimes me and my friend would smoke with his grandpa who was dutch, a member of the dutch resistance durring the 5 year nazi occupation.
a real badass old guy to smoke with. i'm rambling, sorry.
i member having a 'smoke-in' back when i was in college in the middle of campus. the joints were going around nicely. felt pretty cool.

after that, now and again, i'd spark my own joint on the capitol steps with people all around me. i'd only have the joint on me... and if approached i would have aten it. lets all practice a little Civil Disobedience :D

Couldn't have been said better. You should write them with that. Coming from someone that is a huge fan of their station, I'm sure they might consider your input.
