manual pumping a hp aero system

it goes compressor, inline "American style" check valve with unloader port next to the compressor, and then the tee which has my pressure switch and a quick release.
then im going to run a quick release hose to my 11 gallon tank,
on the tank will be my pressure gauge, relief valve, pressure regulator, and some kind of a manifold with john guest fittings to 1/4 inch pex.

your right mine is fan cooled,
i think i came up with a great way to to solve the problem though, i dont know if you have ever seen a muffler for a carbon scrubber or not but ill make a 6 foot long tube that is 12 inches in inside diameter and has the walls packed with some sort of sound deadening material, and fasten the compressor in the middle of the tube. then ill suspend the whole apparatus from the ceiling.

off to buy some agar agar now, im going to start my first attempt at plant tissue culture today. should be interesting

got my timer and nozzles figured out.

there delavan waste oil nozzles, i know there made of brass, but im hoping since the tip is made out a silver colored metal that it will buy me enough time to make it thru two grows before i upgrade to aerolife stainless nozzles.


just waiting on my john guest fittings, air compressor tank, john guest tubing 1/4 od, then im ready to rock.
im still planning on doing a brand new thread with a short basil grow followed by a sog mj grow.

hoping to match g loves grow during my first couple of runs, not sure if its possible to achieve 1.7gpw with no veg and 4 plants per square foot or not, but well see.

Delevan 30610`s are designed for gravity or syphon feed

i guess ill have to be the first to document what happens when you pressure feed a siphon feed delavan nozzle here on riu

do you happen to know what the difference in design between these and a bona fide pressure nozzle?

i see pressure fed just have both inputs going stright to the sides of the nozzle and siphon fed have sort of a venturi effect built into them. awsome this means i get to build gravity fed and regular hp aero systems. woo hoo back to shopping.

Hi Oxanaca, I had a question about your nozzles/solenoid placement. Do you plan on placing the entire nozzle withing the chamber or "just the tip"? I ask because I have setup my nozzles/solenoids (all siphon/gravity fed) with a small length of JG tubing between the nozzle and solenoid such that the nozzle is inside the chamber and the solenoid outside. Just wondering as I imagine you wouldn't want your solenoid valve in the chamber as well.

I'm not so worried about the brass for now (maybe I should be). I'm fairly certain the inner tip of the nozzles are stainless steel, so all we would have to worry about is the surrounding mist dissolving the brass which would likely precipitate out to the bottom and dtw, ie not be picket up by mist particles and carried to the roots where a high [Cu] would be problematic. I could be totally wrong on this but the price difference between these and stainless steel nozzles is great enough to at least test these first. Oh, and I also covered my nozzles with a thin sheet of styrofoam-like packing material that should reduce surface contact with the mist.

i recieved all my materials to assemble the aa delivery system. and about to test the mist right now just to see what gives.

seed55 i plan on just inserting the tip into the chamber. my first prototype is going to be a 2x4x2 styrofom box (2inch walls) im going to use one mist nozzle, i will grow basil as i dont grow bud in my own house and i want to watch this very closely til i get the hang of it. i will build a shelf to set my nozzle assemble on, and just barely poke my nozzle thru.

what size tubing do you guys use i bought .177" id jg tubing, i also have 1/4 inch id pex tubing but deemed it unnessesary as aa is lower flow than hydrolic.

i bought a watts pushfit fitting and i noticed there is one difference from jg and it wasnt the price. when you disconnect them you damage the tubing a lot more.

just tested a nozzle i siphon fed it from a cup at around 6inches height. it shot for about 8 feet, and was about 2 feet wide at 3feet from the nozzle. and a little wider at 4feet. it spits a little bit. maybe a couple ounces a day. i twisted my regulator off so i just watched it from 60 psi til 30psi. i didnt notice much difference in mist plume at different pressures

Just curious, when you say 60 to 30 are you talking air pressure? And if so, at what pressures are you running your solution? I noticed a lot of "spitting" from my nozzles as well, less so when gravity fed, and I would think even less when pressure regulated. Good luck with everything, I'm hoping to get some free time soon to get my own project up and running.

yeah i didnt have a air pressure regulator when i was testing my nozzle for the first time. im not going to run my solution under pressure as my delavan nozzles are siphon fed nozzles.
im also not going to run them gravity fed, why run an extra solenoid on each nozzle if you dont have to, just one more thing to screw up, and shut your whole system down.
ive built a 2foot by 4foot by 16inch high chamber out of foil faced high density styrefoam. its very strong, and theres 32 plant sites on top. 4 per square foot. i acheive full coverage in 3 seconds with one nozzle

im germinating basil seeds in 1 inch rockwool cubes now. the problems i face are all noise. my compressor is just a little bit to noisy to be going off in the middle of the night. and these nozzles are lowd as hell. not sure how im going to tame the noise maybe wrap the chamber in some sort of sound deadening.

If you find this, I've looked at centrifugal atomizers, ultrasonic atomizers, and the issue with piezo-electrics is they have the wrong Hz to generate the 5-50 micron range, absolutely no luck sourcing any that have droplet size details other than a precision piece of cleaning equipment. If you go to AgriHouse, Richard Stoners company, they have TRUE AEROPONIC UNITS, being TRUE in that this is the guy that pioneered the technology who worked with NASA to define everything we're using, BTW he also made the AeroGarden, so NASA let him cash in real well. AgriHouse sells the current generation of Genesis machines, they're around 5K per unit, w/ a minimum order of 10 units.

It may be wiser to try to DIY the complete system than try to reinvent the wheel, to throw away all this research they've pioneered and then re-labeling hydroponics as Aero is not going to advance the hobby market at all.

Beyond that, some helpful ideas, air powdered aeroponics has the added advantage of injecting additional fresh oxygen to the roots, gravity feeding your nutrients inline could accomplish this. If anyone who is still interested in this topic sees me posting please MSG me if the discussion has moved.
