Long Stretchy Stems in DWC

You could cover the lid with some white plastic or????This will keep the bucket a little cooler.

yes, you are right

You need to leave that thing alone for a week or two or your gonna "kill it with kindness".
As someone above said, the branches you are tying down are not growing tips.
Once you have full fingered fan leaves and a few nodes, then have at it.
