i'm also a new veggie gardener. Im sure there are all kinds of "wrong" with this but i'll figure all this plant science out.
you definitely have a, "green thumb"!

you gonna make a good pot grower

best advice for new grower is "back off"! You can mother the plant to death but if you just let the plant grow...it will!

Also, avoid if possible China lights....many horror stories including DOA (or partial DOA), fires, outright lies about actual wattage drawn from wall yet claiming 300 watt, etc.

Also, if you have a problem with a China light you get to eat it as customer service is non-existent and shipping light back not an option

do your research on lights as latest thing are the quantum boards, followed by COBs. I like my Blurple but my next light will be a quantum board or another COB

How much yield? well after hearing this, would it be dumb of me to ask what kind of yield i'll get with this current setup? I have thick skin so be honest lol. Im more worried about potency than anything. One thing i absolutely must get is a quieter exhaust fan.

well i was thinking of getting a mars hydro (just for this grow) to add. What would you say about the mars hydros?

You take your chances! Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. You can sort just the bad reviews (1 star) on Amazon and read the horror stories yourself. Funny how many of the good reviews are in the same broken english...lol.

the fire hazard alone would deter me....but many run very hot and don't even save on electric bill

this Rapid led is 75 watt and $149.00 free shipping on Amazon and does about half of what my $650 blurple for a fraction of the price.

plus you can use it for years to come whereas all my grower friends that bought China blurple years ago either don't work at all now or are only partialy working

https://www.rapidled.com/single-75-plug-and-play-led-grow-light/

if you buy smart you can add to your lighting over time instead of throwing your money away on junk

my 2X2 grow is about 400 watts and I have more lights than I need...if your tent comes with a blurple then try that and see and add a COB like Rapid Led or a Quantum board later

not sure any tent pole will hold the weight of a light but maybe? Think I'd want to hang mine from a secure ceiling joist from a wire then run wire down into tent.

I don't even own a scale but I never run out of killer dank bud and I occasionally give it away for free.....I even use bud to make killer butter (approx 1 oz bud to half a stick of butter....still have oz size memorized in baggie from back in the day when would call it a, "lid"....a, "lid", of Colombian, or a, "lid" of Acapulco Gold and maybe only 3 and 1/2 fingers instead of 4 fingers because it got pinched back in 1973). Half a tablespoon too much butter can't even walk and have to go to bed

I like a kinda continuous harvest..for example: Two Maui chopped in approx. 2 weeks....Ak-48 in about 4 weeks, then another Maui in giant pot approx 2 1/2 months, followed by two more AK-48 that will be put into 12/12 as soon as Maui harvest in two weeks

by doing it this way instead of an, "all at once", harvest I can place late flowering focused under the choice light and a smaller/newer clone/seedling can throw it big CFL and hopefully time it so I don't need a bunch of watts to grow killer bud and can save on electric bill

right now even with veg cabinet and fans (one on timer) I'm coming in around $30 a month extra on electric bill

don't think one can easily do that with China lights

that sounds like a serious high. I bought wax for a little while and while it was awesome, its too expensive and makes my tolerance way too high after awhile. I like the motivated, talkative high. Sleepy high is ok but it makes it impossible for me to sit on the couch and play my video games without falling asleep.

i already have my eye on this 150 watt kind led. Its like $500 or so which i could probably get soon. What do you think about that for my 2x2?

I use Kind flower bars (have two 2 foot..they were half price maybe still are) very happy with them as are versatile and low wattage.

The thing that bothers me about Kind is why don't they have, "top bin", 5 watt name brand like Cree? Why don't they give the name of their diodes etc. If your determined to get a blurple I would recommend the company my blurple is from over Kind.

I have this one: https://advancedledlights.com/products/led-grow-lights/ds-xte-200/

But would probably get this one: https://advancedledlights.com/products/led-grow-lights/ds-xml-150/

mine has IR (infra red), UV (ultraviolet), White Led's and made in USA

for the money though I would go with this for example (think someone else mentioned these guys): https://growerslights.com/products/horticulture-lighting-group-260-watt-quantum-board-led-kit

or even a Timber kit or a Rapid Led kit

most of the technology unfortunately that I have seen from Kind and California Lightworks and few other American companies is years old (been six months so maybe they have some new stuff)

So why buy old/outdated technology? Quantum boards followed by COB's are the latest/newest technology then after that in a blurple you want to look for diodes that are at least 5 watt and/or 10 watt and have names like Cree, Bridgelux, and COB's like Citizen, Vero, and Cree

White light COB's in 3000K or 3500K for flower

well i am limited with size so i am in a tricky situation. My current tent is a 2x2x4 tent and i realized thats probably not going to be tall enough. So i have to figure something out.

yea i would definitely do that but like i said, $250 on this tent plus over a hundred on soil and stuff. Yeah i feel like a kid who had McDonalds and is asking for Friendlies for dessert. Wife will be extremely unhappy lol. Cfl's and a little 3 bulb fixture should be pretty cheap. Just wondering if they make a 3 bulb fixture thats say 18 inches and has a plug already attached thats hangable from the tent pole.
I just ordered a 36”x20”x 52 “grow tent. One reviewer wrote it worked well with 350 LED so I went with that. It is my first time- does this sound right- so happy to find this site. Med Marijuana 2x Street price so can’t afford it

Well I’m a new grower myself but it sounds good. I think the next tent I buy is going to be a Gorilla Grow tent. You already ordered the light .Maybe you can return it? I made the mistake of buying the blurple lights but I had a gift card and was clueless at the time. If the light return is too much of a pain then use what you have. Next grow I’m getting a better light and better tent. I think your tent height is good. People say leds don’t add much heat but the blurple I have kinda do. Start off high with the lights. Like 24”. Work your way down to 18. That’s what I am doing. Haven’t started flowering yet so no comment on that yet.

Also, sorry to insinuate that you bought a bad light. What brand is it?

VipraSpectra- is 350w led too high? It’s amazon so could still cancel - what would be better for such a small tent- fire the concern

Well I guess it depends on what you can spend/build. If you want the leds you should check out some other threads here but for me personally, I want a timber grow light. Plus, some people build their own diy leds. Pretty cool. But I hear good things about the metal halide and hps lights. They run hot apparently which if ur growing in a hot spot might not be good. They say leds run the coolest and use the least amount of electric but they don’t flower as well as hps lights. For noobs it always seems like amazon is the place to go for growing stuff but not for lights. At least from what I’ve been learning. I also have the vivarspectra 300 watt and so far it looks cool, but haven’t started flowering yet. It’s up to you though man.
