light cycle on/off times

Doesn't matter to the plant. I keep lights on during the day because that is when I tend to them. Plus all the lights in the room my tent sits in are on during the day so better to minimize light leak. But... lights on at night makes more sense for controlling temps since it is cooler at night.

Mine are on 7am-7pm.

While vegg I keep lights on 24/7 when I'm ready to switch to flowering I leave lights on 18/6 for 2 days then 12/12 but u can make the 12-12 best for whatever your schedule is

hey people, was wondering, when in 12/12 what time u switch your lights at? for ex. 10am ON- 10pm OFF..
Don't matter but I do 8am to 8pm. My closet has a window in it with a ac so I go both the light and ac hooked to timer so they both are on 12/12 electric bill was only 100 bucks this month

Growing in a closed off tun have lights running from over head light and fnan is built into ceiling the small fnanan on plants is energy save no need for ac since room is easily temp adjustable with a open window and during the day I don't use my house lights only at night

Dude Potolota you are using cfl not even t5 yet. Wait until you get a real light and all the associated things to control heat.

sorry guys, should of asked it other way, i know theres no difference WHEN they switch on or off, the question was sort of a quiz, of when you switch your lights :))) day or night :) im currently on 10pm to 10am, but thinkings to switching from 6am to 6pm, as i have some light leakage and instead of fixing the problem, id rather change the times, so that why i asked when you guys operate your lights..

Our hydro rates are on a floating scale and from 7pm till 7am its the cheapest. God I hate veg time, bill goes through the roof......lol. I was experimenting when doing soil grows and was able to get on time down to 14 hours without flowering but I think they suffered a bit growth wise, a bit stretchy.

light leaks need to be fixed. if light is getting out, then light can get in.

You need to give the plants some time to rest - blasting them with light for 24 hours is not a good idea. I am running the GLR (gas light/lamp routine) and my plants love it (veg = 12 hours on, then 5.5 hours dark, then 1 hour light, then 5.5 hours dark, flower = 10 hours light and then 14 hours dark)

leak is so light so i wouldn't be really bothered, besides, i switched to different regime now, so at night it will be complete darkness

they getting rest for sure, leak is only from zipper sewed tiny holes, located only in the middle of the tent and top, plant looks healthy without any sign of stress

If your vegging then 24/7 is idea by all grow gurus it allows maximum intake only during flowering should light be 12/12

Many professional growers use 18/6 because it feels more natural. This idea, though, can raise a lot of discussions.
I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO NOT SPAM ADVICE WHEN YOU WERE GROWING WITH INCADESCENT LIGHTS NOT SO LONG AGO.

I agree 100% here with DC4, Potolota you seem like a good dude....but the advice you give is often off the mark and incorrect. That is one of the biggest issues with these boards....lots of nubes who instead of reading and taking in and learning from the board get in here and want to help other nubes and start spreading bad advise. It is the blind leading the blind on this site. lol Not saying don't contribute but if you were just on here a few weeks ago using indicant bulbs and dying plants not even understanding the basic concept of 12/12 and now giving advise across the board like you know how to grow. You need to watch that....I have wanted to correct you on multiple occasions. I understand you like to get involved and are learning more and more by the day but your advise should come from experience a little more and not what you read from another misinformed person on this site.

I have too many light leaks to run the big light at night, so 0600-1800 , so my place isnt glowing in the middle of the night.
