light cycle on/off times

Many professional growers use 18/6 because it feels more natural. This idea, though, can raise a lot of discussions.
I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO NOT SPAM ADVICE WHEN YOU WERE GROWING WITH INCADESCENT LIGHTS NOT SO LONG AGO.
Lol this is true but I'm not spamming in valid I formation I'm giving advice from everything I read and all the grow guides the library suplioedd mess. I may of started off making mistake having never done indoor growing before but I have read read read and read some more. Yes so what if it feels natural so u say, if the plant grows up with 24/7 that will be what it feels is natural. But your right it is quite controversial

people people no fighting please, after all we are not like alcoholics... Potolota, if you would read my thread, im on 12/12 (so im in flowering) and i was only asking when you growers keep your light on... im not a complete noob, ive read tons of forums first before i started my grows...
No one is fighting here chill lol. I posted about the 24hrs in response to a quote about 18/6 and was saying what I did. And technically we are all noobs no matter how many times we grow, all my size full outside grows meant nothing this go around but i don't mind I learned as I went

If your vegging then 24/7 is idea by all grow gurus it allows maximum intake only during flowering should light be 12/12
Far from the truth. Grow gurus say "MJ CAN be grown 24/7" but very very few say it is ideal.

Considering I have watched an experiment with my very own eyes I can attest to the FACT that 24/7 is not ideal.

20/4 followed by
18/6 followed by
24/7 (by far the lowest yielding).

All 3 grown at the same time in side by side boxes using the same soil mix/nutrients from clone.

So yes, MJ can grow 24/7 during veg, but it is the worst possible light schedule for maximizing yield.

The thread asked when do people run their lights not for how long lol. And the correct answer is when ever you like lol. Thats the majic of indoor growing, you control it to suit your schedule :). If you cant work in the garden at night turn the lights on in the day and so on lol.

ok so i run my lights during the night to control temps.

usually the correct answer is when ever you like but the op does not have that option with the light leaks. light getting out is one thing but light getting in is not good.

I have 2 rooms in one big shed and they are not totally light proof but pretty good. I'm not sure if it is a big as deal as made out to be, but really have no clue, I have had grows where there was total darkness and grows where there was a bit of light leakage (not unlike an urban outdoor grow) and there was no disconcernable difference. I have even opened the door .... :O... I do have a green light for working in dark periods though. That is not to say that total darkness, when achievable, is probably better. But I don't concern myself with a bit (glow of control panels, etc) of light in my grow. What is the effect of a small amount of light leakage (zipper incl.)? Is it smaller growth, longer finish time, loss of potency?

slow or no flowering, revegging or weird growth, and hermies. just depends on the strain and amount of light leak. but why take chances.

Regarding temps and running lights at night. It is very good for the plant to have temps swings. One thing you don't want is it to be hotter lights off than lights on. I debated running lights at night but would really have any temp swing. It would be more of a constant temp. So I rather have 80-85 temps lights on and 65-70 at night with lights off.

Who says lol. Is this a proven thing? have you done a comparison grow? I really have to question that as my outdoor grows never suffered from that that I know of and it always gets colder at night here. I also run lights at night for temp control and dont turn on the heat at all through the day if not below freezing (I'm cheap). I have done a couple of grows with the heat and extraction real close temp wise and saw no big difference but with so many variables who can tell.

Im amazed that works smokey! Must get very close to freezing the coil with the ducting there but very cool hahaha. I'm expecting it to get hot today or tomorrow so got lots of frozen bottles for the res! I'll be building a chiller next season! Hard to ac my shed, people might wonder why there's an ac unit cooling a garden shed lol.
