Let it grow, first time around, bag seeds

CONGRATZ!!!!I dont like it either.....

thanks puffer!

so heres a plant update-

of the two newly flowering, 1 is a male and the other a female. no signs of it'ism on the female.

the male is still flowering, maybe 1 or 2 more days. depending on growth, then i will find a spot for it and find out how tough, these guys are. i will keep it somewhere where it will receive the sunlight and maybe some interruptions by inside lighting, not much though. what ever happens happens. at least i will be more familiar 4 later.

due to the confirmed male, i put 1 more into flower. we will see how that goes. looking at the others, one looks highly stativa brand. it has a huge stock and no off shoots. where as the others have many off shoots along the stock. plus really skinny leaves. its a mut either way.

2 seeds had legs long enough to pot. so thats 2 more seeds to dirt.

the big one is doing its thing. all white hairs. they are growing good.

the clones show many places for root. if i remember i will pick up some hormone to finally help speed things along. not a big deal either way.

i wish i could change the title, even though its still my first time around there are many more times going on. i should leave it as LET IT GROW!

I would leave it as is at least until first harvest. After that maybe go on with another thread on something more specific. Like cloning after you have tried a couple of ways and see how they work. To me that is the next most important thing to be able to do well. Nice to be putting only known females in your flower area. But again there's also hydro. They grow so much faster just in a simple DWC. You can always start with one test plant to try it. Take two clones and put one in soil and one in hydro. You won't believe the difference.

Well, just recieved a neg rep form someone in this thread for being of point as to " straying from the topics at hand". WTF is that! Up to this point i have enjoyed watching this thread daily and have had many laughs on the way! But now i say, peace out and good luck with ur grow pimp.

To the hater, whomever u are, I assure that Soon enuff u will be in awe and greatly amazed when u find pink cupcakes floating around! With that being said, rather than pure pleasure and enjoyement, I hope u take a huge pull, and choke on it?

hash- u r right. and cloning is an important step. i would surely try growing as hydro. if the parts could just happen to come together. it would be a fruit full time. i hear that soil tastes better. but i would have no clue. what do you think?

onthedl- the negative rep could have came from someone not subscribed? no ones knows. regardless glad you could get a few laughs and stopped by daily.

i think i am seeing preflowers on all of my vegg plants. i don't know for sure. it looks liek i have 1 or 2 more males comming in and 2 more females. i just don't think there leaves. it will be good to see if i'm correct. not on the sex (cuz i may be remembering the numbers wrong) but good to see if its presex. either way, i think the plant htat went into the flowr room yesterday is male. so i put a presumed to be female to take its place.

everyone is just growing. temps are stable.

The taste depends on what you put in the water. I have read that organic nutes and certain supplements can help a lot but can also stink. If it does not have the right things I'm sure it would not taste as good. But if done correctly the hydro will be more potent also. Do you have a Magnifying glass to look for the preflowers?

Hey Pimp, I'm glad to hear about more females...sorry to hear bout the dudes. I'm interested to see how you do with cross pollinating the strains.

I also plan to go hydro in future grows. My reasoning is more to reduce the amount of visits to the grow spot, not so much for potency, smell, or the rest of the reasons mentioned.

Can you take any pics of the preflowers? Is your cam strong enough? How about a pic update of the big plant? :)

pictures will convict me... just kidding. no i don't have a camera. i might be able to borrow one. but not sure... i understand though, pics make a world of difference.

i brought out the two confirmed males. i put them in my bedroom in front of a window. i don't know what will happen. the lights are on before bed a few hours at the most, like 2. other than that they will live around the sun, which by the way isn't hte brightest this time of year. i may put one back into the flower box tommorow just to make sure it is indeed a male. it looks like it, but its super healthy looking and i would love to see be a female. the other one is no doubt a male. it is starting to grow a (what i would call) a bloom stick.

the latest plants to hit the dirt are doing there thing. no green leaves yet, but i just put them in the veg box today. i left them in dirt for a day on the hot water heater to stay nice and warm. conditions are a bit tougher in the veg box but not by much. they should do well.

i have 3 or 4 clones that have at least 1 inch of root. i think one has 3 inchers. i put them down on the bottom to be under the most light. hmmm... i don't know when to pot these. if they were normal plants (which they really are easier to grow than "normal" plants) then anytime will do. I may let them root just a bit more though. they are my future lady children and all. no need to rush. it seems the clones that were taken with no flower spots rooted the fastest. this makes sense. but i didn't really know that. pratice has made knowledge. :)

i saw super small flying bug come from one of my bud sites on the big girl. i couldn't find anymore or damage. confusing. i didn't think i had to worry about bugs in this stage. i hope not, that could bring down. i'm also wondering how much i will get out of her. its still early, but i'm curious.

the latest girls to show up in the flower room are doing good. one is extremely lanky. the other has a great structure. i can clearly see these will not produce as much as the first one. i knew this but i had no choice. they do however look 5 times better at there age tehn the first one. this also makes me super happy, its proof i have learned something along the way. or that the grow big is doing its job. i will elect both, just so i feel still feel good.

HASHLOVER- i have enjoyed your time here. but, i'm going to have to let you go.... I"m just kidding. Are you growing anything? i bet you would make a good father. (if your a dude that is).

by the way- thanks everyone for growing with me. i feel like the president and you are my cabinet. my helpers and support.

i promise to borrow a camera wiht in 1 weeks time! just think how exciting it will be to finally see wtf i'm talking about!

Man that sucks about the bugs, hopefully there aren't anymore. I'm still having a bit of a fly problem myself. I picked up a nice fly trap today. Kill kill kill! Wow, that's scary ;-)

You've learned a lot man, give yourself some credit. Your new babies will turn out good I'm sure. I can't wait to start using my grow big. The seedlings still need a few more weeks before fert's.

Oh, I think I 'may' have found a way (and a new space) to hold a mother plant. I may join your cloning club.

Watching, waiting, Mr. President.

i found a leaf today that had a few spots. i checked the bottom and it looked like a few bugs were hanging out lunchin. i took that leaf off. it looked like they were having a meeting on that leaf only. i hope i can only be so lucky. i don't know what to do, as i don't want to spray my plant wiht the bud sites.

today was a great day for a camera. i opened the door to my flower box and there was a 14 inch snake lying there to great me. i would imagine he was having the winter of his life, sun baked and 80 degrees. jeez.. i tossed him outside. its almost certain it will die today or tommorow just due to the temps. i still feel a bit distrubed. that is my safe haven. great smells sexy sights, and i get down and look care free. yikes!

more clones are showing inch roots. i must have hit a magical number of days. they all still look healthy too. its going to be a party in about 3 months.

i didn't check the seeds. i would imagine same as yeseterday and if not then an extra day wont hurt em.

i have a specail plant now in veg. it looks nothing like the majority. its not pink or anything. but i have high hopes. after looking it over, i had to go check the plants in isolation. man, they are super healthy looking. but nope there still males. the one is gaining more and more flower sticks. i better get that music set up. maybe in like 2 more weeks we will be getting down and dirty. they make my room smell soooooo good.

mary.chiva- i'm glad to here you found a spot for a mom. i will watch closely and it will be interesting to see how you luck pans out. so far. i can only say, water worked for me. i did abosolutely nothing specail. just cut the stems off about a cm or two from the main stem and then recut the stem to clone at a 45 degree angle. i then cut 1 or 2 nodes of leaves off and put them in water up to the top bottom branch. so at least 1 to 4 inches were in water. i misted them about every 2 to 3 days some times more. and changed the water like 3 times. there in a super humid spot. with low light. oh yeah and i waited forever. good luck!

let me know if anyone knows of a way to kill these bugs without damaging the buds or using chemicals. i would love to keep the leaves and roll em up and smoke em when i'm drinking beer.

i'm going to go set by an outside fire and drink beer. hopefully the moon comes out nice and bright like yesterday.

i threw out the couple of seeds that didn't do anything. i opened them up first. they were black inside. i think they were doa. no big loss.

i am changing pots to holster the massive root growth thats happening. i've come into a new problem. space. the freezer just cant cut with huge pots. so it looks like i will have to think this out over a few days.

four clones were potted today too. good luck to them.

Space, huh? You remember my old problems... Go with the attic...j/k.

You'll figure it out and I'm waiting to see the outcome ;-). Go Go Go.

here are my freezers capabilities...

4 - flowering size pots 1.5 or 2 gallon
-or-
6-8 mid size pots, used until pre sex shows. (or at least its been this way
-& allways-
20-30 seedlings or clones. (dependent on clone size)

i think i will be good on space. what do you think? keep in mind that i should have plants in the flower room finishing when these arrive. (unless i get murdered by bugs).

HASHLOVER- i have been looking into hydro setups. with all the work i have put into my area lately, i think the change will have to wait until this comming fall. which is a good thing, it gives me plenty of time to plan and learn. thanks for the idea-

i'm beating my head trying to find relays that are HPS rated or 5KV pulse rated. if i find them, i will use my current ballast double time for flower and veg.... anyone??

oh, i gotta get a move on... i see more small spider webs.. we know what that means... fuck, is all i can say. i have yet to see any damage other than 1 leaf 2 days ago.

yesterday i transplanted two plants into there big pots, they are upcomming trees of my life. the littlest ones have there seed leaves now. i will most likely plant a clone or two today.

in my flower box one of the new ones is quite the lanky plant, surely not something with mateable genes. the other one is off to a good start.

As far as space, I guess it depends on how many plants you want to grow at a time. Me, personally, I only want to grow 4-5 female plants at a time (unless I get lucky and all 8 of mine are females...). My grow(s) are only for my personal stash...so, ask yourself...how much do I really need? Unless you have other plans for your stash (friends want some, etc).

Get rid of those bugs man. They must be destroyed....;-). Where are the spider webs? Are they near your plants? I thought spiders killed off other bugs???

I meant to ask...what do you mean about HPS rated "relays"? What is it? What do they do?

Also, how many babies do you have going all together?

FLOWER PIMP

were talking about spider mites... all though not confirmed. but the biggest clue are the webs, going from leaf to leaf. i have spotted about 12 webs in the last week.

check out these links from the GROW FAQ section of RIU, i wanted to include links to a picture of webbing that looks like mine, but couldn't find it today.

for the relays...

wiki says..
A relay is an electrical switch that opens and closes under the control of another electrical circuit. In the original form, the switch is operated by an electromagnet to open or close one or many sets of contacts. It was invented by Joseph Henry in 1835. Because a relay is able to control an output circuit of higher power than the input circuit, it can be considered to be, in a broad sense, a form of an electrical amplifier.

but it really doesn't amplify any thing..

this is how i would use it...

to use a relay you need a control circuit, in this case a timer
when the timer is active, the relay will switch the ballast light power to 1 light
when the timer is inactive the relay will switch the ballast light power to the other light.
i would light my flower area for 12 hours then my veg area for 12 hours with the hps ballast and MH conversion bulb (veg) and agrogrow flower bulb. i would supplement the remaining 6 hours with cfls. i know that the use of the MH for 12 hours would help tremindously.

relays are used everywhere. i just havent found any that are rated for the 5KV pulse. i'm sure i could use something else, but i heard people say you have to have a 5KV pulse rated light socket to use a hps light due to fire hazard reasons...

Hey Pimp, Thanks for letting me stay and be part of your cabinet Mr. President. Just remember the greatest leaders in history did so by surrounding themselves with the right people. They didn't do it on there own. And thanks for the father comment. I have six plants growing, one in hydro and five in soil. I'm looking for a good mother plant and male to also breed. As far as the bugs go just remember there are good bugs as well as bad. I have a few small fly type bugs flying around but have not seemed to get any worse in the last couple months. I think my pet spider is keeping them in check so I have not done anything about them yet. I don't worry about them much in veg as long as they are in veg. I don't want even the good ones in flower though because if they crap in the dense area of the buds because that can start a mold problem in the buds. And we don't want that do we. First thing you need to do is find out what they are. But try a "No Pest strip" I don't remember who makes them but they do go by that name. "Neem Oil" has worked very well for me with a spider might problem on one of my outdoor grows. It is a natural product. Just make sure you spray the undersides of the leaves also (that is were spider mites live) a pocket microscope about 20X Is needed to see them. You won,t see them with the naked eye. IMO if my plants are not being eaten I don't worry to much ( execpt in flower). I don't remember from your photo's but are you using square pots? If not you should be even if you have to make your own, thats what I did whem I could not find them to buy. Much more room for roots and soil than round in the same amount of space. You can make a very simple hydro setup to try on one plant. Once I can post photo's I would be glad to show you. I'll have to think about that relay thing and get back to you. Snake in the grow huh? Keeps the mice out though huh? Do you have to have a certian amount of posts to post photo's. I know some sites are like that. Anyway Sir I will try to post a photo when I am done with this and get back to you on anything I might have forgot. I'm not a very fast typer and it doesn't help still with one and a half hands. :joint:

oh yeah, forgot about the hand thing... thats a lot of words for 7 fingers!

i'm going to get one of those strips.. i also read that low temps will slow down spider mites. maybe thats y i haven't seen too many, my temps are normally around 70.

save me some research time, teach me to do what you did with that hydro test setup.

your looking good!

square pots may be one of the best ideas i heard of yet! they could surely maximize space. i like your pots, you can see when the plants are rootbound and how bad. i don't up size at the first sign, so i would like to know the real situation.

i wish i could have keep that snake. but i would have gotten bitten eventually. theres no question about it...

my biggest struggle right now, is the electricity thing is not ironed out totally. if i could get unlimited juice, i would be super happy. that envolves me running a new circuit out to the building though....

i thought about this as an alternative to the relays...
400W HPS Ballast Kit S51 5-Tap - ProLighting.com

i saw somewhere else for like $70. DIY save all the time... anyway i could just run too ballast.
