It would be easier to keep the lights stationary and move the centre around instead, have the bars set up on sliding rails so you can adjust them

3000k CRI 80 seems about right. I used to make grow lights out of flexible led strip many many years ago with cri80 3000k. They were ok but not quite efficient enough, technology has become alot better over the past 5 years.

*** NOTE*** I just did some specs compared to my drawings & OMG:blsmoke::bigjoint:bongsmilie.... If I have 58.6in diameter of a circle space... The circumference (outside) of the circle is about 15ft!!!! So if my canopy will be 6 foot long... 15x6 is 90sqft!!!!! So the usual way requires 30w per sqft.... In this setup... With 700watts I am only using 30% of what everyone else uses but without ANY loss:clap:bongsmilie:blsmoke::bigjoint:

You are going to have losses because it's vertical also, the plant will grow over the space you are calculating so it will be less than you think, only way to know is to build it and try it. I still think you should not have the lights rotating

I also realize it will be pretty big gaps in between each light even still with 9 bars... So speed does play a role here more than I thought

Would be perfect if the res was attached to the bottom of each PVC individually.. but I'll have tubing along the floor to connect multiple PVC to one res.. I will have atleast 2 res that I know of for now

I want the canopy as close to "head to toe" as possible so res takes up vert space.. rather connect tubing at the bottom of PVCs to main res

So put it on a stand with a reservoir underneath it that can recirculate, you will have continuous problems if you try to have the lights rotating

I agree with teknik here. Rotating lights means rotating electrical connections have having them “dangling” is just asking for a fire hazard and something to fuck up. Much easier to put all your res stuff on a lazy Susan and use a motor to spin it.

This is a really complex setup I really hope you have some sort of machining experiende

It could be done in a non complex manner, it depends on how you want to feed them. One thing is that you want to make sure everything involved is protected from splashing water. I would use a low voltage motor to spin the centre and have the lights on a rail system that can be slid in and out. A reservoir to catch and drain the water out. I honestly think that the horizontal version will work better than a vertical one with the lights in the centre. It would be much easier to build.

Doing it vertically the cheapest and most reliable way would be to have more bars of lights and no rotation. Led lights are pretty cheap now days.
