A friend of mine will ask them "Well, what happens if you recruit me, then I take your place?" Last I checked she never heard from them again.

johovahs witnesses or mormons?

witnesses are basically a glorified cult without being apocalyptic

and the mormons......well my signature says it all.....they basically took christianity and all the questions that were asked about christianity they answered by saying "because god says so" and those bullshit answers.....the main difference would be the fact that they believe there is a prophet on earth at all times.......so yes they worship a living breathing person as a prophet who talks to god.....its actually kinda funny......polygamy was actually written out of the mormon religion because one of these prophets was "told by god" it was no longer acceptable....they just use that as a way of saying their religion is absolute and quesitoning it is futile becuse their answer for everything is ,as stated previously, "god said so"

Hell, maybe they (the Mormons) are right about there always being a prophet around. One could argue that Ghandi and Selassie were both prophets in the 20th century. I've even heard good arguments for Bob Marley being a prophet as well as Archbishop Desmond Tutu. And, hell, as long as there's a Dalai Lama and a Pope around, well, one of those two is probably prophetic at a given time.

I have enough doubts in my own beliefs that I really don't have time or reason to judge those of others.

If there is a God (and I'd say that there's a good shot that there is), who else would he be talking to? In any case, I'm very skeptical of organized religions unless they still defer to individualism in personal matters, which they seldom do.

Honestly the chances of there actually being a god is extremely low. Every religion requires faith cuz if you actually think about what they tell you, it's really hard to believe it. Anyway, I guess a prophet could be real if there was a god but how could you tell? anyone can say god talks to them and most of the time if someone says that you think they're crazy.

im not saying they are wrong im simply saying their answers to things are ridiculous and they just avoid all problems by saying "god did it"

next time you meet a mormon or talk to one. ask them what happened to the golden plates from which joseph smith translated the book of mormon.....their response is "god took them back" thats just avoiding a question...and maybe god did take them back.....

and what about polygamy? It was a huge part of mormonism until people(not mormons) decided it was immoral and wrong.....so what happens then when the mormons are losing credibility in society? the current "prophet" comes out and says "god changed his mind polygamy is not a mormon thing anymore"....and now different sects form because they call his bullshit but aren't detered from the bigger bullshit.

The whole concept about having a mormon prophet at all times is in essence a safe guard to not become outcasts and beable to change whatever rules they have whenever this "prophet" deems it neccesary......tell me thats not a bunch of bullshit?

no im not religious and personally i think religion in itsself is bullshit but mormonism takes the cake for being able to manipulate people and not have to answer any real questions

hahha the chances are very slim of their being a higher power.....but if you look at it from a statistical stand point apparently you are statistically better off believeing in some supreme being and just living morally than being an atheist and saying fuck all of that......its pretty interesting stuff

I agree there is very little chance of a higher being, at least the way religion sees it. But you can be an atheist and still live morally....

i haven't had a j.w. at my door in years. every once in a while i get a pair of nicely dressed mormons knocking at my door. i don't like their doctrine, but you have to respect the fact that they're out there every day spreading the word that they believe. i always give them a couple drinks and let them use the can if they need to. they're pretty nice folks.
