Just another poor Cali connection review :(

    Breeder: The Cali Connection
Selection: 2 out of 10 (Looks good but most of the strains are fake)
Price:1 out of 10 (way overpriced)
Would you order from the same bank again? No, not in a million years!
    Other Comments: (Any other comments)

So i recently ran nearly 10 strains from the Cali Connection for my legal medicinal grow. Literally everything except for the grape kush hermed out, so I would have to give them a 1 out of 10.

What is your environment like? Sometimes it can be environmental stressors as well as sensitive genetics what strains did you run?
too larry and Indacouch like this.

GSC, LA cookies & most of his OG's. It was in a decent environment. Not too hot & not too cold

I wouldn’t blame the seeds. Especially from a big company that sells tons of them.

If your environment was stable and you ended up reversing og’s Maybe take a look at how you fertilize? Also how the veg period went determines final results but no one talks about that for some reason. Also pruning and defoliation and even lst can stress some plants into reversal.

If all those plants reversed together during the same grow it is 100% the growers fault.

They used to label plants difficulty level. Og’s have Lemon Thai and chem in their genetics. Both reverse easily.

Also don’t know what you mean by fake. My cali Deadhead og was fantastic and “fooled” the best of them. Lol

I grow a lot of Thai/ diesel crosses from seed and some of them show late nanners. But rarely more than a few seeds.

If they show early male parts I look for what I did wrong first. Pick them off and when I solve the issue. No more balls or nanners usually.

Everything didn't herm. The Grape Kush & GOG did fine, but everything else seeded out big time. The LA Cookies, The Louis Xiii, GSC, the "sour d" all hermed out. These plants were grown side by side, it wasn't my fault. I've read countless reviews stating the same problem.

Yeah from others who don’t really know what they are doing.

They are a big popular feminized seed company and as a result have tons of new growers buying them for their “elite” copies.

They would be long ago out of business if there was really a problem. And there is plenty of bad info out there.

Greenhouse seeds also is huge and has tons of bad reviews. I have had excellent plants from their seeds. And 100% germination.

And honestly just by your description of “not too hot not too cold” does not sound like you have control of your environment yet. A good grower would answer that question specifically. And include humidity readings.

We either want to blame or learn. It’s a choice.

Also “hermed” is not what happened to your plants. They likely reversed from stress. And with that many different strains at the same time it is obviously the Growers fault.

You offered no info or pics. Just your opinion that has to be correct because you read it on the internet.

A hermaphrodite has both male and female parts from the beginning of bloom and is quite rare.

Read Clark’s Marijuana Botany for the information you need. All pot plants can reverse.

I have say you sure are going out of your way to defend CC when there are a colossal amount of bad reviews. Unfortunately companies like High Times & Leafly are promoting CC for some reason. That's why I think they're still in business. Also the endless herm reviews are more of a recent thing. I'm not going to give you a vivid description of my environment or post and pics for safety reasons. (Not everyone prefers to lay out their entire life here). What I will tell you is that it was ran outdoors in a good environment where it doesn't get too hot or cold. 80's in the day 60's at night. I've had long time great results with reputable clones in this environment. Seeded units are very common for growers that ran CC. Just search "Cali connection" here on RIU you will see & hopefully understand why i titled it "Just Another". I've got over 10 yrs exp under my belt, please i ask you nicely to not assume I'm newbie a grower just because I'm new here.

And honestly I mean this respectively but if you believe that blanket statement that a legit hermie is rare you're the one lacking knowledge/experience. I've seen plenty of real life Hermie's in person. It's actually quite common when popping large numbers of feminized seeds. Roughly 5% of femmed beans will often herm or end up being a male. If you ever planted more than a few of them you would know this from hands on experience. I've been in the field long enough to know this. Unfortunately CC seems to be up way over 5% when it comes to their femmed beans herming. Thanks to them herms are the opposite of rare.

I’m not defending Cali connection. Your post and description and now this long defense show your knowledge and experience.

Outdoors you could have been pollinated by other plants or all kinds of stress to self pollinate.

Time doing something doesn’t mean excellence.

Some people have 20 years of experience. And others have 1 year of experience and repeat it 20 times.

I read your other post on another thread while surfing around just now about how the seeds were hidden and it’s hard to tell..........

Good luck. I tried to explain about plant difficulty levels. Stick to your known clones next time or pick a keeper to clone from the new seed pack.

Maybe someone else will read Marijuana Botany and learn something about our plant and then my time was not wasted here.

I updated my post might wanna read it over again. Also the last thing i'll add is that I have successful experience. It's not bad experience.

Lol. You could have just asked me about my Grow instead of commenting more misinformation about my Grow on my profile page.

That was a question I answered about what type of bulb I was using from a discussion last July.

Your comment is not correct. I run up to 24 plants in my small Medical grow and up to 3 lights in flower and 2 in veg for a perpetual staggared grow that I will plant a seed or clone and harvest a plant about every 10 days to produce about a pound to 24 oz per month for almost 4 years. It is a legal Michigan Medical grow staying in plant count and meds on hand for me and my patient.

Before that I was dealing with illness that ended my career. But I have been involved with big Growers since the eighties when I graduated high school.

I was trying to help you gain more knowledge. Complaint posts are almost always the Growers error not the major successful company.

Me and tons of Growers even just around here have excellent results with ocean forest soil for example. And they sell volume all around the country. I have been using it for years out here in the woods because it is fresh and stored indoors near where I live.

But the common forum post is that it is too hot or incomplete or low ph etc.

Almost every time I see this the grower is overwatering or something. But the forum crowd is agreeing the soil is bad.

Good luck with your Grows. I didn’t mean to start an argument. If I had argued when I was told what I was doing wrong I would never have got better at this.

MMG what specific CC strains have you ran? And have you had success with all them? That is all I want to know. I ran nearly the entire CC lineup and it was a disaster. Consumers have a right to know

I have only run Deadhead and Tahoe og. Both plants ran great. Yielded well and tasted and smoked excellent. The Deadhead was as a favorite with everyone. It was delicious with a soaring high. One of my favorite plants I have run. I only ran those too gifted seeds. But you never know where you will find the winners with seeds.

It’s mostly environment and the individual grow. Then genetics. That’s why different growers have such varied results with even the same elite cutting.

Just the fact you managed to reverse all those different plants should tell you there is an outside factor.

Any great grower would be searching for a solution to what went wrong. It’s not like you bought untested seeds from a new unknown breeder on ig.

I mostly use Ch9 for Seeds. They have consistently had higher quality results than most other breeders in my garden. And if I ever had a problem I could just email Pete the breeder like I did years ago when I learned how to grow for myself.

But I trade and buy other seeds to mix in variety and add some new fun to my Grow all the time. I can experiment as there is always another plant ripening in case one goes wrong or disappoints.

You are completely missing the point. The point is it ain’t the Seeds that went wrong. Something else did.

I pissed him off. But it seems he is still interested in what I am trying to explain.

    How you doing man?

    If you say so.

You really think it was the Seeds of all those different plants fault here?

    Indacouch Well-Known Member

I've ran their sour D for many years with no issues.......same with a few others ......all fire and stable.

    Indacouch Well-Known Member

I think you were nice about trying to explain your thoughts to him. I personally have seen a batch of seeds go to three different people and they all get different results .....I totally agree with you on this scenario with OP.

    even nutrient ratios affects sexing

    Sure,it happens..

These plants are not that sensitive,as most make them out to be...

Did he say if it was "low ball herms" or "nanners in the bud herms"?

    It's a big difference.
