Ok i installed my timer, rerouted the fan cord so it does not go off when the lights do. I'm using three 42 watt 2700k bulbs and temps are at 90 degrees AGAIN. I will buy some more bulbs if i can get the temp issue solved. thanks for following along.
I installed a temp gauge on the outside of the cabinet so i do not have to open to doors to check the temp. I checked when i woke up and temps were at 88 degrees using three 42 watt 2700k bulbs. that's 126 watts which isnt enough but i will work on that. i never ordered the larger bulbs in 2700k
I am rushing flowering because this is my first MJ grow. Sure i have grown tons of other things but im a newbie to MJ.
Im not convinced the short rider is an auto flower like nirvana says so we will see what happens when i give it 12/12.
From my research i say where plants will grow up to triple their size so i decided to flower at 6 inches on the bag seed.
LMFAO, thats great!! but really, that sucks about the temps. man its such a hard thing to get in line with small cabinets and the amount of light needed. hope you get it worked out soon. jude has some good points about the fans. i didnt do all the math on mine, i just kept adding fans till they came down. good luck man, subscribed and watching.
Thanks for following along! I'm testing the multiple exhaust idea now but it's nighty night time for the plants so I will use the time to research intakes. As it stands, i have none which is a huge problem. But where oh where do i cut another hole in this cabinet?
another question, how much light should i have in this cabinet? I do not think the 42 watt bulbs will do the trick. Im thinking of ordering some 105 watt bulbs but then i will have the same heat problem so im kinda stuck.
i have 6 23 watt bulbs and it was growing 2 plants fine, im sure i could use more, but im not fighting the heat deal again. i found that the hood i had was the biggest problem. when i cut that turkey off, temps went down. your hood may be trapping the heat in, you might try it without the hood/reflector and see what your temps do. just a thought.
Telling you now brother LST is a must for me, I have two grow cabs and the difference is day and night, so like nike says. Just do it. jk lol. blaze on brother stoner
The temp problem is easy, you need to drop your room temp, this is a must with grow cabs, I had to get one of those AC units that sit in the room with the hose to the window. Close the room and vent and BAMM! Magic perfect fuckin temps all the time. I live in a hot climate, this was my solution hope it works for u , blaze on
See the problem is, the cabinet is in an un-air conditioned closet adding to the problem. There are no windows close to the walk in closet. I would love to have an air conditioner in there but its not practical. the ambient temp is 78 degrees so i'm somewhere about 10 degrees over that inside the cab.
I have thought about the reflector trapping heat, i tried a fan sitting on it like a giant cpu fan but that didn't do anything for the temps. the larger bulbs just get plain too hot. I am thinking they should be in sealed reflectors.
78 degrees Fahrenheit is pretty much to hot to begin with.
hot ambient air is obviously less effective at cooling.
If your ambient temps were 0degrees Celsius you would theoretically only need 1cfm to cool your cab.
Frozen bottles of water could be a good temporary solution, bung one in the cab and change it for another once its melted, bang it back in the freezer, rinse and repeat...
I found online that 130 watts per square foot was how much light hit the earths atmosphere from the sun, i think this would be too much light.
Yeah, I guess i always knew i couldn't grow in this closet, since its un air conditioned.. Well i will finish out this grow for sure despite the heat. the plants do not seem to mind much.. YET
Well if that's all, i do not mind as i am a hydro tomato and pepper gardener and used to waiting. Speed isn't an issue, this is my first MJ grow so i would just call a healthy female or two success.
I thought i would post a few pictures to break up this bummer mood im in.
