2x3x5 grow tent

Im starting this thread because when i was in the process of putting my grow closet together there wasnt alot of information dealing with the size tent i was forced to work with. Closet was the only place i could realistically put this thing. Was trouble enough getting fiance to roll along with it so ill take what i can get. So i had this closet probably 2 ft x 3ft x 5 ft. Pretty much just enough space to fit that size grow tent. so i purchased the 2 x 3x 5 tent and had to buiild it inside the closet in order for it too fit. Was a challenge. With grow tent installed i had a heck of a time finding information regarding appropiate lighting for that space. Everyone is all about the leds but im just not comfortable with that style lighting. Wanted something tried and true so i focused on finding a hps metal halide combo. Not knowing how much light would be too much i opted for the 400 watt dimmable ballast. Alot of people said 250 watt would be okay for that space but also said 250 watts dont produce as nice of buds. The whole point of this is to get really nice quality stuff so i didnt wanna chance fluffy buds with the 250 watt. 400 it was. Also was difficult finding a slim enough hood to give me some wiggle room with the 5 foot height. Alot of these hood were too wide too and wouldnt fit. Pretty much only option at this point if i wanted the 400 watt was too get the cooltube from ipower that has the slim add on wing. So not as reflective as i would have liked but atleast i have the option for 400 watts in my small space! now just hoping it will be practical too use that much light. At this point i know i need to focus on a good exhaust system to make that light work so i go with the hurricane 6 inch inline fan. Its a beast and pushes alot of air. equipped with a controller and its everything i need to expel hot air. Cut 6 inch hole in ceiling of closet run duct up into attic and connect inline fan. I also read it was bad to expel hot air into the attic so i ran it to the gable vent on the side of the house. using metal tape i fixed the duct to the gable vent so the air can pass through outside. Kinda worried about blocking a portion of the gable vent but it was a large vent and more then 2/3 of the gable vent is still able to expel air from attic. Time will tell if that is enough and i check occasionally. Anyways I saw alot of videos with people making a soundproof box to put the inline fan inside so i decided to do it as well. when turned on cant hear it at all so that was nice :). With a six inch inline fan i thought it would make sense to get 6 inch carbon filter as well instead of using a reducer to 4 inch. I read sometimes people still get smell from a 4 inch filter and didnt wanna risk it. I had no idea how big a 6 inch filter was and immediately started to panic that this thing with the light would even fit inside this small ass tent. luckily it did! barely. So with the light installed along with the carbon filter and the use of a 5 gallon smart pot i had roughly 3-31/2 ft of growing height to work with. Happy with that. At this stage i decided to buy 3 6 inch hurrican clip fans to line perimeter of tent along with a 4 inch can fan to pump air into tent. Now 2 months into my first grow in the tent and i think i will upgrade that 4 inch can fan to a 6 inch. Alright guys i just wanted to share my set up with you guys to help out the next soul that is stuck working with a small tent. I might get to sharing this grow with you guys if i have time to take pics and what not. Right now im on my 2nd week of flower and they are looking very nice. growing 2 jack herer strains from seedsman. After i bought the seeds i was worried because everyone said they would be monsters. Well so far so good ive lst'd the shit out of them and topped one of the plants just too see the difference between a topped and none topped plant. Honestly im liking the non topped plant more. just looks like it has a better structure and light penetrates it better. They actually have about the same amount of tops too which baffled me. We will see though. Running the lamp at full power 400 watt hps. Light stays around 15 inches away with temps topping out at 80 degrees Fahrenheit. mostly stays in the 73-77 degree range. humidity stays around 45%. i also invested in a lux meter just to get rough estimate on what parts of plant are getting more light then others. i know its not the best measurement for light intensity but it does good to help me to try and equally distribute the light. i think i covered everything if i didnt let me know and i will add whatever. I guess i will also add that this is a soil grow, i watched this pot guy on youtube make his own soil with ffof black gold, roots organic, alaskan hummus and some of those clay pebbles. seems to be a great mix and havent noticed any deficiencies yet. I also supplement compost tea with a cocktail of ewc, alfalfa meal, molasses, azomite, kelp meal, soluble kelp, alaskan hummus, two types of compost and humic acid. also top dressed once with ewc and once with kelp meal since i flipped lights. i also tried the scrog thing but i dont think i did it right. i think i should of started the scrog before flipping. i also think i lst'd too hard and should of let my plants gain some height. they are about 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide...lol. i hope they stretch some more.

Any Pics? I love reading about the small ops. I'm in a 2x4x6'11" Gorilla tent. All of my harvests have come out of there under a Tasty LED T2-2100. So far for my purposes the LED had worked wonderfully. Had some beautiful harvests with great resin production. However, bud density just cant get to what I'm dreaming of, under the LED. Got my organic soil figured out to the point that I barely boost P and K artificially during flowering. Conclusions, I NEED A REAL MF'ING LIGHT ALREADY! Just picked up an off brand 315watt CMH fixture with a Phillips bulb that I'm going to hang for flowering.

Hi Shane. My grow is the same size, and so I used to scrog. I'd try to fill the scrog to about 70% full, before you flip the girls. The rest can be tucked in during the stretch. Don't worry if not, just try to keep them a similar height.

Also, I recently built this led setup, and although it's only just over 200w, it only cost about $200 and it's knockout for that size grow.

Happy growing !!
