Javadog's Next Adventure

Thanks Team!

I pushed my way into the back corner of the tent, to make a quick
banana check. (I had not given the OG Kushes that good an inspection
in a long while anyway).

After extracting myself, I see this lying on the floor of the tent:
IMG_2125.jpg

The Headband is in a hurry to get out of the tent!

I have been checking trichs. Honestly, I could take the PurpleBerry and
LA Con at any time. The Skywalker OG Kush is very close to them, and
Kosher Kush and Headband are close to SWOG.

The OG Kush could probably use four more week if I wanted to give it to it.

I am weighing my options.

1. I would love to go perpetual in the tent. This would allow me to leave
the slower plants as long as they like.

2. This will mean that I will be in Stinkville perpetually as well. :0)

3. I will need to dry plants in an odor controlled env....for me, right now,
this is mainly the one tent itself.

4. The crux of the biscuit: I can dry two or three plants in the Veg closet
at the same time. It is not completely dark for 18 hours, but the light
is very dim, as the board on which I mounted the T-8s pretty much
completely blocks any direct light above the board.

So, I am considering taking the PB and the LA Con (again, at 63 days),
putting the four very mature plants (3 CVMM + 1 Somango) into the tent,
and letting the remaining five plants finish.

Right now, this is what I think that I will do.

My "riser" idea will have to wait, but coming up with a steady solution
to the run-off problem will have to happen.

Take care,

JD

dead on with my honest opinion! i know you had discussed to someone already about how you do your harvests (by trics) but that purpberry could go another week or so. they look like they still got one more swell in them. maybe if u run PB again in the future try it out.

Happy harvests Jdawg!

I agree GD....I really do.

Holding back on harvesting is something that one has to do,
and redo, over and over again....well, I am still new and learning.

I am reminded of my having to keep my mouth open when at the
Dentist's office. I start great...and slowly start to close. Open
back up....and repeat. LOL It works though.

This is just a side effect of trying *not* to think about something
that one is having to wait for. (i.e. being done at the Dentists)

When I have a few more proper grows under my belt this will all come much easier.

I went through this with Mushroom Cultivation too. I am not patient
by design, but I am very trainable. I work to learn patience.

I just keep reminding myself that I am only now at the point
where I can do this thing. I worked three months to get right here.

The tentative chop day for the first plants is next weekend, end of
week #9, but I will scope them before then.

I want to try Old Timer's Haze some time, and that will take six months
to finish flowering. I have some work to do!

Onward and upward,

JD

It is SO FROSTY!

One thing I do a bad job of is showing the best side of my ladies.

I have a decent camera, but it is either the HPS or the flash that
is washing out the frostage.

I will post some good harvest shots at least. :0)

Take care,

JD

My camera has decent specs, but might be over stated as I cant take great pix?
It cant be that I suck as a photographer lol.
I might have dropped it too many times, and my shaky hands reallly dont help.

All is looking great in there and you have some tasters to boot.

Thanks Bass.

I chopped the OG Kush short at 5 weeks because it was
just going to kill itself against the lights and snapping it
over had failed.

That was actually a promising smoke, even if it is destined
for the extracts sack*

I took one of the toppled over SWOG Kush tops at 7 weeks.
I tasted this today: Very nice. This one will rock at 9 weeks.

LOL, and today I knocked off a week 8 Headband top.

I think that it is a conspiracy. :0)

As to photos, I am sure that I know a solution, and this is
a second, separate light to illuminate the bud for the shot.

This light should be selected to light the frost well, and it will
do this without the over-done/washed-out effect that a close-up
flash will have.

I did pretty well with a flashlight, but will figure out something
else to use before I harvest.

* ADT, I am not sufficiently experienced with extracts to have
a favorite yet. I *love* BHO. Soooo strong, clean, and tasty.

...but the sticky factor is just plain fucked up. I even got an "Oil Stick Pad". :0)

I just need to blast more...more to work actually works easier.

I have bubble bags and also tried that. I have to admit that I did
not really enjoy the result....not the flavor but the consistency.
It dried to the rock hard shit.

I need to do the Frenchy thing, and heat, soften, and knead my product.

I have a ton of trim now and need to get going.

:0)

Oh, and I want to try the dry ice method next too.

Definitely.

...and I find that isolation is imperative. In 3-D the eye picks
out one plant from others pretty well. In 2-D it is much harder.

Take care,

If you haven't thought about it or have looked it up just blast onto parchment paper. No scraping, no mess. Just fold the paper back and forth, you'll get the trick for it, until it's in a nice ball/square/gathered together. Also gets you those few extra dabs you can't get out of the dish.

I still find myself just blowing into the pyrex and scraping. I've done so many batches that with two razor blades I can clean a dish clean without getting oil anywhere but your nonstick pad or parchment paper. Might be a little in the dish but that's from bent blades or curved blown glass in the dishes.

If you ever want any help my method is easy enough for a 6 year old to do it and I get high grade clean shatter

Ugh...you are all going to get a laugh out of this one...

I was sure that Blue Dream and Lemon Juice Express
were going to be too tall when they get a slot in the tent
and so I decided to pinch their stems.

I was going to post how much I enjoyed how they proceeded
to just sit there and get bushier, for like two freakin weeks.
IMG_2129.jpg

Well, when I took a shot of the stem, I was shocked:

LOL, we have necrosis folks. Wow...I really squished the heck out of this one!

It will rock....any scare is past, and was missed.

I am hanging in there....but it gets tough as we enter the actual harvest Zone.

Right now, I am looking at the weekend to chop the PB, LA Con, and SWOG Kush.

I will also move the CVMM into the tent.

Onward and upward,

I do not mix nutes separately for each plant, and so as N needs drop
off and I start add molasses I see a little tip burn.

This is an easy way to identify those plants that are sensitive to nutes.

I see that for this crop LA Con is the most sensitive, then PB-BXII, then
SWOG Kush....the OG Kushes and Headband look like they could take more.

Welcome aboard VTM.

Headband is in the tent and Purple Wreck is Vegging.
PW seems a slow grower to me, but I have seen some
amazing grows of it. It turns light purple all over.

Hey Mad, No worries. I am glad that you are here. I am close
to harvesting some nice buds.

The next Crop includes some plants that I have somewhat neglected.
These are the Cannaventure Mothers Mix plants. I got five regular beans
from this freebie. They are not clearly destined for anything specific,
by design, and so took a backseat to the Kushes that I popped along
with them.

The upside is that they have had a ton of good Veg time. I had to take
one of them, and then Somango, around their buckets to control
their growth, but the other two are probably more intriguing, as they
are purplish-slow-growers, like PurpleBerry was and now Purple Wreck is.

Check this verbiage on these seeds:
-----------------------------------------------
CV Mothers Mix:

Mothers:
Lemon Skunk, Hogsbreath, Pre 98 Bubba and ECSD.

Fathers:
Sour Diesel IBL keeper
Sour Double Kush
Pre 98 bubba Kush BX

The quote from Cannaventure, on ICMag:
The Mothers Mix pack Freebies consist of pre 98 Bubba Kush....The Hogsbreath
Clone....ECSD clone.. and The Lemon Skunk Clone...All being the Mom plants....
As for the dads that where used, I used my nice Sour Diesel IBL keeper Dad...
I used a nice Sour Double Kush Dad....And a Pre 98 bubba Kush BX dad... So
expect multiple phenos for sure... But should be some very nice winners to be
found...
-----------------------------------------------

Here are the three CVMM and the Somango:

The other upcoming plants are proceeding:

IMG_2143.jpg

The next wave is out-growing the clone table. They will do well
when the closet is freed by the harvest:

Check out the nice structure of this Psycho Killer:

Take care all,

That looks pretty hybrid (the pk)...bet you got the lemon pledge pheno ;)

Everything looks great, will be fun seeing how the mothers mix does, hope you find the hidden jem!

Thanks guys.

They are far too gangly looking to be pretty, and their yield
may be spread over more buds that I I might prefer, but I am
pretty happy right now.

I am aiming for optimal, but this will do nicely in the meanwhile.

Not long now. :0)
