Is this a preflower?

This baby is an unknown strain (bag seed) which is at 40 days from seed. Topped yesterday and noticed this today. Is it a preflower? Is it too early to tell?

n0 a prefl0wer is a small tiny hard t0 see at first white pistil and as it gets m0re mature the plant will fire m0re and m0re white pistils 0ut being if it is a female which then helps create the buds a male will have lil sacks that l00k like a pea p0d but will alm0st be in the shape 0f a spade

you'll know, when you start to flower. it will ba a pear shaped lookin thing with small white hairs coming out of the end

Alright so, just to make it clear - will preflowers only show during 12/12? Because I've read on numerous posts that they can start showing in veg after the 5th node or so... I'm confused.

it can happen but they usually dnt p0p0ut until the temp dr0ps and the light cycle differs meaning yes switching t0 12/12 will induce fl0wering.. GL

those are called stipules and theyre on both female and male plants.

If your talking about that really tiny little ball towards the bottom than yes that is preflower. Give it a few more days to grow in and you can than tell what gender it is.

Preflowers will show in veg if you veg them long enough

There is a pre-flower there, see the little ball on the bottom left of the stipule? It could be male or female at this point tho, so just give it a few more weeks.

If its female it'll sprout the tiniest little pistils...I'd say it's make from where on the node the preflower is located but I'd definately wait it out and see cos every strain is slightly different.

I hope it's a female for you tho!
