Iran Update...

Yeppers, we can always count on the Democrat Party's expertise on foreign policy to "clean up the messes."

Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter did a superb job. And now what ... Obama bowing down to Saudi kings, diluting the worth of our money and depleting our nuclear advantage?

Vi
Nuclear advantage? HA! With MAD (mutually assured destruction), does it really matter? There are enough nukes to blow the world over. If we have them, any country should be allowed to have them. No one has the right to place conditions on this matter.

And how can anyone fight for state's rights and autonomy, but not grant that same autonomy to independent countries? It reeks of hypocrisy through and through. You keep saying that the government should stay out of our lives, but you're encouraging them to impose their will on other people's lives. Do you see the utter contradiction here?

Maybe if you count the Big 5, but the minor players don't have nearly enough nukes to achieve MAD, it's not MAD if they wipe out one of our cities, and we wipe them off the map (assuming that we have a president with big enough balls to go through with something like that.)

And yes, I mean big enough balls, having to carry around the kind of guilt associated with wiping out a city, or an entire nation is not something I would want to deal with. Likely any president that ordered retaliation would either require serious counseling or blow their brains out.

Or balls like grapefruit.

President Truman had an agonizing decision to make. 700,000 allied casualties invading the Home Islands or Japanese flambe'.

He made it.

From the comfortable distance of 64 years of history, it is easy to say he let the genie out of the bottle. That he didn't really need to drop those bombs.

1n 1945 he did what was required and ended the war started six years earlier because Britain and France passed the buck by previously choosing to placate Hitler.

I have an idea, lets take a backseat on this and let the countries who are actually in imminent dager from this threat handle it. Israel, attack if you wish. Countries of Europe, get your ass in gear and do something, we will no longer do it for you; Middle Eastern nations, we will buy your oil but you people fix your own fucking self created problems...we are done with you.
Get our ass in gear?? are you for real?? educate yourself boy

I was referring to Russia, specifically. And yeah, the Big 5 have more than enough to wipe each other out.

If the unthinkable would happen, I do hope our government has the balance to act with precision and intention. I don't really worry about nukes, however. Proliferation has already happened. If the ball drops, then we'll see what happens.

I know islam are great people outside of this bs we call terrorism or al-aqada or whatever "they" may call it. I have never been to any Islam nation myself, but, I have known many muslim in my life, and thru my family's life, here in america. Great strong russians, wonderful japanese folk, and beutiful african's from gana, and there is something beyond these acts I dont understand myself. All people's seem to be great without this insane idea of war and land.

I know on the street, we seem to have our wide differences, for made up reasons I believe? a written book possibly? But we are just different people. seemingly hoping to believe in the same thing almost.... I beg for peace, but obviously somebody doesnt think like me haha. I look at the sands in the east region, and it doesnt make much sense to me why it is so troubled in a way, but deep down, I think I do understand the deeper motives besides isreal, but yet, I don't... Maybe my view of how a nation or a people should be, is skewed and diluted into this world view of peace, and harmony, and intellect. But it seems we all need some kind of way to keep going, if its not money, what is it? I just dont get it personally. If we put religion aside in our hopes for each other, we can understand each other better I think.

There are rulers in power that have extremely different agenda's then the people of this world? Are we really that indifferent to each other? They really do want the very best for us, great, Id like to believe that.

Yes, let's see what happens...

Yes, Bush cleaned up Clinton. Clinton practically put out the calling card on 9/11.
The first and foremost memo on Bush's desk when he took office was on Osama Bin Laden and the threat that he posed. Bush was briefed on Bin Laden and his activity for weeks BEFORE he took office. Clinton was aware of something. But yet you blame him for the attacks. WOW! Clinton is to blame for 9/11. Obama is to blame for the economic crises. Hell - democrats are to blame for every evil in the world. Republicans have no faults and only produce positive effects for the country. Sound right? It's exactly what you preach.

When will you get over all this republican/democrat bullshit. You have bought into a false paradigm and are fooled by it. You really think there's a difference? You really think all democrats are to blame for everything while republicans are knights in shining armor? I don't get it........

And please, answer my previous question. How can you be in favor of complete state autonomy (when a state is PART of a nation) but not allow autonomy for countries to produce what MANY other countries already have? It makes NO sense. Where do you demarcate? How do you justify? We cannot allow Iran to have nukes because they're evil? Many parts of the world think we're evil. We have nukes. Many parts of the world think Israel's evil. They have nukes. Many parts of the world think Russia's evil. They have nukes.

You're fear is causing you to retreat to hypocrisy. Your fear is making you irrational.

That is the legacy of the far right, fear and hypocracy. I'd be inclined to add a few other traits, ignorance for one, and most certainly, egoism and and vindictiveness.

Thinking someone is evil is one thing, but in the end it comes down to words coupled with action. Iran's words match their actions....they are planning on using the nukes.

So you think ANYONE should have nukes? really? No worries with North Korea then i suppose. No problem with the Sudan having nukes too i guess, or heck, let's just give every nation a few of ours to even things out.... you sound ridiculous...

First off, sorry for coming off so strong on my first post. I know that points are made much better without direct insults, sometimes the boiling blood gets the better of me. so I'm sincerely sorry.

CrackerJax, I find it ammusing how much you hate Iran. Is there a persian bully in your childhood past? jk

When you say that saudi arabia has given israel permission to use the airspace, you prove no point. It has NOTHING to do with the muslim sects. Saudi Arabia is an extension of the US, just as Israel is. People say Saddat had ties to the CIA. For those who dont know who that is...he was the leader of the Saudis.

Also, you say that Iran having nuclear weapons destabilizes the region. It seems logical but it is just regurgitated conservitve propoganda. You tell me what is more destabilizing to a region... FOUR countries invaded and attacked by western forces in a 3 year time span? Or one of those underdog countries attempting (bravely) to obtain nuclear power. Quite frankely, nuclear weapons arn't in the interets of Iran and they know that. look how far it got Kim Jung Il (he is isolated now and dying alone of cancer)

Actually if you were an Iranian, you would not revolt against your government. Sorry to say.
Mr. Bush cheated on his election, and some how he managed to be an even BIGGER FOOL than mr. Ahmedinejad. Hard to believe but true. I didnt see anyone rioting. Including you.

haven't read all the posts on this thread but a lot of you make it sound like Team America, World Police is the way forward??????

News Reporter: Team America has once again pissed off the entire world by blowing up half of Cairo

Spottswoode: Team, this is all my fault. I was overzealous in Cairo. I let racism cloud my judgment. I was so sure the ultimate terrorist was Middle Eastern, but I didn't realize he was a goddamn Gook. I'll never be a racist again.

LOL
