If we don't have the right to self ownership and to possess justly acquired private property, we are in some degree "enslaved". This is the only logical conclusion that can be derived, since being a slave is living in a state of being denied self determination.

I do not advocate slavery in any degree or suffer the use of any twisted euphemisms that people care to wordsmith the status of "anti-freedom" to. No matter what you call a thing, it is what is.

Prohibitionists of today are the progeny of "slavers" yesterday. My name is not Toby. Repeat my name is not Toby.

Genesis 1:29 (or something like that) - Superdaddy in the sky says, all you mofo's can grow shit and do what the fuck you want to with it, and don't forget not to kill each other or steal other people's shit. Amen.

Show me where this "right to self ownership" is Rob. That presumed right is always at the center of your one trick pony posts. Who guarantees this right you seem to think we all have?

its self evident canndo...that is unless your a slave...
you can kill yourself right?
even laws outlawing suicide (lol) cant stop you :)
even in jail you can kill yourself...
and what about cheesefarts favorite pastime?
cheesedic's habitual 'take me to the edge' technique surely qualifies as a sign post of self ownership...right? :)
even a slave chooses to stay alive instead of suicide or kill or be killed and that choice implies self ownership...
special dedication to self ownership and cheesedips self evident rights ;)

i used to have a pembroke welsh corgi named "toby".

I can kill your dog too, doesn't mean I own him.

part of the self ownership deal is just as you describe in that you own your action of killing the dog, the dog owned himself (no matter who feeds him lol) but as the dogs best friend if i were to kill you in response then i would own that action, not own you...c...?

Nope, I don't. The fact that I can act confers upon me nothing more than the ability to act. Slaves act or can act as well. Does that dog "own" himself? I think you mistake the concept or idealization DOG with the individual. So too do many who believe that no being in their world is anything but a representation of the whole of that species - except man - he alone has the ability to be an "individual" and thus, according to them, is afforded any rights at all.

Who actually "owns" an individual? himself? or Humanity in it's entirety?

the fact that you can act confers exactly that there is self ownership...to suggest otherwise implies that your actions are controlled by another source...
a dog can choose to 'fetch' or maybe he will just lay down...
ever try to herd cats?

So now we come to the "free will" thing. I don't miuch believe in free will, therefore, all my actions and yours are indeed "controlled" by another source.

Take your pick, genetics, indoctrination, authoritarian influence.

isnt it true that influenced is certainly different from controlled?
the moment of action is owned by you because you own yourself...
even if someone had a gun directly to your head you could choose to do the opposite of what you have been commanded to do at such threat of death etc...

Are you arguing against self ownership? Are you saying that people should NOT own themselves? Are you a prohibitionist too? Wouldn't that make you "Can't Do" ?

It is debateable, influence could well be control. Regardless, I don't happen to put much credibility in the concept of "free will". You asked.

Cute, but still, I am saying nothing about what should or shouldn't be, I am commenting upon what I believe IS.

so it is a belief, which is akin having faith that something is true, so in a way it could be said that it is against your religion to believe in free will...right?

yo, i am from washington, 2nd to colorado, and take it from me, yea, its legal, but you wouldnt know it. a bunch of my friends have gotten DUI's after legalization from smokin, and sure its legal to posess, but not grow, or buy, you still have to have have a med card to actually benefit from this "legalization" i hope it all works out in colorado, since they are setting the standards. is it my right? sure, i think so, do they? i guess not. thats my 2 cents.

I believe the sun will rise in the morning, but I do not worship the sun. Belief alone does not constitute religion.
