I completely believe that. Rauner really screwed everyone. I work for the state, and he even changed employee healthcare to be handled by a Canadian company that has no idea what they are doing, instead of it just being handled by state workers. It has increased time for our own benefits exponentially. Now that I'm waiting for my card (it's only been about 30 days), I know how the employees don't work. Believe me, as you have figured out, there are no groups of employees trying to speed things up for anyone. State employees who try to get things done are quickly shot down. What I witness is sad and corrupt.
I agree. When they started messing with pain meds for those of us that are disabled and need them I said the same thing. Let them experience this pain for a year or two or five straight and have someone look them in the eyes and say “but it’s what the government wants.” Fuck them.
Messing with lawful legit pain med users to prevent street ODs makes as much sense as self castration to prevent someone else from being a rapist. Or taking away guns from lawful owners to keep criminals from shooting people. Or taking drivers licenses away from sober people to keep drunks from driving. Those things all make about the same level of sense.

Welcome Tom, Great People on Here, . I wish someone would do a Story on the Hundreds of Thousands of People who were Denied access Because Bruce Rauner said " They Only Have Chronic Pain". There are tons of Stories, even in This Thread, of Veterans and Disabled People not being allowed to Even Apply because they did not have 1 of 41 "labeled" Ailments. Despite being on Opioids for DECADES. And as They were telling Doctors to Stop or Cut way back on Prescribing for 2 million Illinois Opioid Patients, They were telling People like me, on Disability for 10 years and Oxy and Fentanyl for 15, you are not Worthy.
I basically bought My Card, after 15 Years in Pain Management, through an Outreach Type Place by getting a Dr. to Diagnose with PTSD. To Me, a person Barely getting by, to be willing to Spend $300 a month of My own Money on Canna Meds vs. only $19 for 180 OXY Pills through Insurance, and be Told, No, You only Have Chronic Pain for 15 Years, Keep Taking Opioids and Destroy Your Liver, This is such a Giant Embarrassment, and Truly Sad, and Not for Me, I am one of The Lucky Ones. There are so many who Suffered so long Needlessly, and still are, if they can not " FIND" the Right Doctor. aka Back Alley Cash, Mr. Schuba. Thank You

I care for my 88 year old mother who has advanced alzheimer's in my home. I dont want to put her away.Every night I have to watch her literally climb the walls with anxiety due to alzheimer's while her delirium is so bad she doesn't know who I am or where she is. Can you guess what medicine snaps her right out of it and calms her sick mind ? That's right ,and its safe without the dangerous side effects of the ineffective prescription drugs her doctor has her on. However her doctor works for a federally funded clinic so the doctor is not going to sign ANY forms or paperwork relating to any cannabis program so I have to find and pay a separate cannabis doctor for the paperwork.(and her doctor doesn't disagree with the cannabis ) Meanwhile I sit and wait on the 93rd day for her card and I wonder what kind of people can allow and ignore such human suffering., .....unnecessary suffering. There's hundreds of stories like mine here , they should add up to one huge scandal, But what I really want to say, is that if anyone has a loved one suffering from alzheimer's...they can find mercy with cannabis ( indica strain) .

Here's a link to the article, which coincidentally (?) was written by our recent visitor, Chicago Sun-Times reporter Tom Schuba. And to be accurate, I believe the article states that provisional access will begin "as early as Jan. 31" (and not January 1 as your post states).
To be honest, I'm not sure this is new information. It doesn't sound concrete, and it's not sourced. Rather, it sounds like another of the vague semi-informed guesses we've heard from a few sources in recent weeks.
