Millions of families are forced back to work because they can't afford to sit on their ass all day because they dont live within their means and have children on a whim, or accident. Thats not their employers responsibility to fix their stupids.
How much do you spend weekly on Lottery in your state?

I haven't played lottery for 15+ years. Why do you ask?

See the powerball is up there. You gonna donate to the winner like the rest of the suckers?
Nope. Saw the cattle in switchback lines picking up their losing tickets yesterday.

I'm not a gambler it doesn't appeal to me..although numbers and patterns do but not to the point to put down money on.

I have however noticed the faith crowd is more likely to play big time..even getting nasty in line (not moving fast enough for them their gambling purchase is important) when they drop hundreds which really does not benefit the retailer and others are standing in line to pay for their goods which really benefit the retailer..Lottery outlet is meant to bring you into retailer in hopes you'll pick up other items.

It has nothing to do with being religious sky. Some people just don't understand odds.

When everyone in the state is buying multiple tickets you have a percent of a percentage chance to win.

Take a gander at who plays sometime, Pie..I said faith based..I never said religious.

I'd bet 9/10 if you asked..spiritual in some way..the answer would be yes.

In the powerball the odds of winning remain the same no matter how many people buy tickets. When it gets ridiculously high like this I play for entertainment. I lost 10 bucks yesterday so the cost of a meal.

It's a tax on the poor. Only difference is this "tax" is voluntary. I saw the lines on TV, one a 1/4 mile long. Most of those dreamers have no business pissin' off their money.

If I play I play not to win but as a side when I'm buying a coke and bag of chips. Some drove across state lines and Canadian boundaries.

And then after asking that question and getting your answer, what exactly would you expect to gain?

The poor have just as good a chance of winning than the rest of us do. Is it better for a poor person to buy alcohol and/or cigarettes?

i see people here don't understand how expected value works. some actuarial work would reveal to you idiots that when the jackpot gets high enough, the expected value of a ticket exceeds the cost of that ticket, making it worthwhile to play.

but i'm talkiing to a group of braindead racist right wingers, so none of this will make any sense to them.

The correlation between believers and non believers vs. left and right.

Believers will not chip in for tangible because it may not directly effect them (it effects our country)..yet spend untold amounts in order of 'but it could' happen dream of untold riches and seem to be quite satisfied with a $2 winner.

Playing lottery tends to be a right winger thing when you get down to it.

Well they kinda do it all as in the case of the Missouri? Governor who personally fucked up his states budget..the fix? Alarmingly higher taxes on cigs and alcohol..the poor mans tax.

Again, ignorance tax, not poor tax. They choose to fuck their lives up by spending money they can't afford to spend on shit they don't need, and its all completely voluntary.

This is just a wild guess, but maybe it has something to do with why they are poor in the first place.

My concern is there is a rather large portion of the American population who feel that poor choices should be rewarded and good choices should be punished...

I don't agree with screwing up a states budget, and I'm not sure taxes on booze makes sense, but I'm a strong supporter of high taxes on tobacco. I think it's deadly, costly to society and has no benefit. Call me biased, lol

Alcohol and tobacco have similar costs with regards to health budget costs.

Here we have cigarettes taxed so highly that were one of the only countries that the taxes on cigarettes entirely cover the cost to the State from smoking.

Essentially, smokers here have already paid for their cancer treatment before they even get cancer.

It is costly to society because the government has chosen to subsidize bad behavior. How about if everyone was responsible for their own health?
