I get what he's saying. Even so, once I commit to holding the door open for someone, I consider the times when I retain my place in line as a favor returned and not an entitlement. If yer gonna be polite, go all the way. Jmo. cn

I never thought about this.. I only hold the door open for women or old people.. So I guess I usually don't care if they go in front of me, cause I'm never really in a hurry and always stoned.

I hold open the door because it's the polite thing to do. I don't expect anything in return. I also allow people to go ahead of me in a check-out line if they have a lot less than I do and they seem in a hurry. Five extra minutes is not going to kill me.

I see where you're coming from but it may be awkward coming through the door and wondering if the other person is going to come from behind you and get in front..
Usually I'm holding the door open, then follow as the person goes ahead.

i hold the door open for women cause i am a gentleman, also i am expecting to lose my place in line. the plus side is that now i can stand in line and check her out. if she was behind me i would have to keep turning around. what a perv. lol

I will hold the door for most as long as you are within 20 feet behind me, any longer of a wait is weird imo.
I will also allow women to go ahead of me if they have a couple items.
Also I never pass up the opportunity to let a hotty stand behind me in line. Think that goes without saying.
Especially those late night fancy grocery store milfs. You never know if they are out shopping for a boy toy so I always take the risk.

Um... I hold the door open because it is rude to let it close on somebody when they are three feet behind you. You don't know whether I'm smiling or not when I'm doing this. English isn't your first language, is it?
I see everyone else's point. I think I was more pissed that they didn't say thank you, but I was also hungry and didn't feel like watching their sandwich get made before mine.

Its the ungrateful simpletons that do not have the manners or decency to say "Thank You" that piss me off.
