im abiut to run a 1000w hps and mh only because it was sold as a package with the ballast. my setup is not air cooled because it gets extremelly cold outside just ur regular reflector to gain some heat but im starting to hear that its better less more hps then mh im going for about 35 plants ,the room is 9'x8'x6'...should it be better to get lower wattage mh or im good??

i think 1 hps and 1 mh is perfect. i think that is what you are saying.

oh ok because i was hearing that 1k mh is too much and cant be close to plants and that for sum reason less mh then hps is better.....oh well ill keep it that way then thanks

I'll try to interpret the best I can, lol. I guess you were high when posting, rofl.

MH has a much higher blue spectrum (plants need blue light to vegetate) than a HPS.

HPS is much higher in red light, needed for flowering/budding, than MH.

Start your crop with MH, set it really high, at first. about 4 ft, over a meter. then lower it as needed over the first few weeks.
When you start flowering (12/12), switch to the HPS.

sorry about that

i cut out what o thought you really wouldnt need "mainly the fluros and incandescents parts.

Approximate light production:
Incandescents: 17 lumens/watt
Mercury vapor: 45-50 lumens/watt
Fluorescents: 60-70 lumens/watt
Metal halide: 90 lumens/watt
High pressure sodium: 107 lumens/watt

Metal Halide (MH)
Metal halide lighting systems are optimal for use in the vegetative phase of growing. They emit mostly blue light, which encourages vigorous growth of foliage. They are very efficient, but can get rather expensive to start with; fluorescents may seem more appealing because of their lower price, and they are not much different when compared on a lumen-to-lumen cost level. These lights can be used through-out the grow, but will most likely result in light, fluffy buds.

High Pressure Sodium (HPS)
High pressure sodium lights emit mostly orange, yellow, and red spectrum light, which is perfect for the flowering stage of the plants growth. They are (in my opinion) the most efficient type of light available for any application. HPS lights can be used through-out the entire grow. They produce more dense and usually larger buds than any other light.
HPS lights are generally a little more expensive than MH systems of similar wattage. They are more commonly used by experienced growers because of their ability to produce tighter buds, higher lumen-output-per-watt, and will produce from start to finish.

I'll also add this graph below, i hope this post helps some of you out.
