So I'm now on my second bulb in 15 days!

I'm using a older style metal 250w ballast (new out of box less then a month)

250w omega bulb

Euro style economy shade

And a 2 socket extension

I run the extension into the main wall socket all I have connected is the ballast and small fan everything else is connected elsewhere, any ideas what this could be?

Most extension cords are a smaller gauge wire than wall outlet gauge which restricts electrical flow. When you try and pull a high amp load it tends to cause whatever type of electric device to run hotter and not quite as efficient.

Turned out it was the ballast but that may be the origanal falt, luckily the hydro guys I deal with are great they just replaced the ballast.

Get a new ballast. Done
Should have listened I'd have saved money on bulbs
