How do YOU Clone ?

ok so im not an expert on this but on my first attempt to clone i was successful and after that it never worked again , i done the exact same thing cut at an angle put rooting hormone on it (Clonex) trimmed the leaves and put them into a propagator under a 125 watt cfl Do not know what i am doing wrong so i am looking for a new way A Better Way if there is one The strain i always use is Critical jack for cloning but thinking of using a Great white shark for cloning in future ,, Any help would be Very Cool ,, Cheers in advance

I dip my cuttings in my asscrack, get roots in three hours!

Naw, lol...pH soaked rockwool...45 degree angle cut, dip in water then cloning powder, into the rockwool, dome, and under CFL's. I have KLN made by Dyna-Gro, but have yet to try it out. I guess next time I'll try to remember using it, cause it usually takes me around 10 days to see roots...Maybe it'll speed that up?

cut at 45 degrees, dip in clone gel, cube, 24 hrs of light with a dome

or cut 45 degrees, dip in gel, plant directly in ground, 24 hrs light w a dome

This is more or less what i do but 1 only give them 18 hours do the extra hours make a difference ? i was also thinking of diluting some clonex in water then using that to soak my coco Pellets in

i frist used a plastic coffee can,air pump and stone PH water to 5.8-6.5 keep temps around 72-78 and leave alone, now i use a botanicare 25 clone with spinners and my air pump and stone from the can also works great just gotta keep temps and PH stable and you can clone in anything dont even need rooting hormone and can get roots in 3-7 days a cap of h2o2 in the water helps keep crap from growing in your water also

Imo rooting hormone is rooting hormone , powder or gel they both work

Just user preference

Iv used both and one really did not do better then the other , ( rootech , greenlight powder )

i know their other products out their that i haven't tied , so their might be something better , but as of now i believe when it comes to gel or powder they both work just as good imo

My last clones took root by water cloning which imo is really as simple as it gets

my blue mystic was cloned using powder ,

Look, if you're having problems with cloning it has to be the water content of the cube that's causing the issues. I've had 100% success and I am getting to the point where I'm thinking the rooting powder is not needed. I'm not braggin I'm just trying to tell you that it just isn't hard AT ALL!! A week ago a pot fell over and broke a branch off of a plant that I have. The branch was fairely substantial but I only had room for one more plant or I was over my limit so I figured wtf and took the shriveled top all wilted and limp cut it dipped it stuk it and domed it...............it's huge and threatening to take over the dome. No presoak, just ro water and wham!! instant plant. Excessive water will kill em dead though. shake it out and you're golden

Just sayin

yeah now you mention it i do always leave a small puddle of water in the bottom of my dome so it wont dry out the coco ill try it your way and see how i get on ill keep you informed if it makes a difference cheers

It's just like big plants in my opinion, it has to dry out somewhat before watering again. Too much water or sitting in a puddle of water is no good.

your doing everything right but i noticed you arent saying you scrape the first half to full inch of the stem to the 45 deg cut it helps with rooting i have always done this with success i scrape cut the angle and dip it in rooting solution powder is what i prefer and never any problems

Build a areopontic cloner. 100% rooting just plain tap water n nothing else! Just built a second cloner cost like $40 bucks!

I dont scrape i make like little cuts all around it and not too deep alll around the stem about 3/4 the way up think ill let it dry a little and see how that works out , Thanks all for the advice

Im gonna give you a tip that should get you success every time you clone.

When you select a cutting be sure its not a wispy lil peice of crap, make sure its got some girth to it,also try & select a branch that has a woody feel & look to it.

Next do everything you did the time you were successful with one addition, get a bowl of room temp water & as long as ph is from 5 to 7 you dont need to adjust ph,now when you take the cutting from the plant make sure there is room to re cut the stalk a 2nd time.

Here is the tip, branches are hollow much like a drinking straw & when the inital cut is made removing the branch from the plant the branch can gasp & suck air up into the branch, the branch now has an embolism right at the bottom .

Air embolisms will block the cuttings ability to uptake water, when the plant uses the water within its structure it sucks in fresh water to replenish, the embolism will block some or all of the plants natural sucking action that uptakes water.

Now after you made sure you have a bowl of water take the cutting from the plant making sure there is room to recut 1 inch higher ,place the cutting under water & recut the end making sure the part of the branch your cutting stays submerged under water the entire time your recutting it,this way if the plant gasps when you cut water will be taken in & an embolism isnt created.

Every new grower ive known who had problems cloning has become successful after i showed them that method, everything stays the same except the under water cut.

When i cut i have 100% success rate using this method & i clone alot & frequently.

I had horrible luck with cloning until I switched to an alcohol based hormone my hydro shop makes. Its a thin liquid, not a gel or powder. You can buy similar products at other stores in much large bottles for alot less money too I've found lol. I found some at Fred Meyer.

The main ingredients are; Indole_butyric acid .133%, 1_Napthalene acetic acid .076%, Inert ingredients.

I cut at 45, dip for 2-3 seconds, put it in wet sand, dome it, and keep it warm. I use 2 cfls 1 2700k 1 6500k. 100% success so far. I'm just a personal grower, but I've done 32 cuttings with this method and they have all taken, every single one. My success rate before this method was maybe 25%.

root riot plugs
clonex gel
unheated propagator
125w 6500k cfl
razor sharp clean scalpel

cut the stem at a 45 degree angle just below a node, trim off all matter above the node including stems pistil etc, shave off a small amount of the outer layer of the stem, dip in clonex twice then push it deep into the root riot plug, i mist one time then leave them to it under 24/0 lighting.

certain strains are harder to clone than others, but using this method i can take huge clones with 3-4 nodes on them and get them to root within a week, after ten days they are ready to flower.
