Here is my CFL grow.

I topped the two biggest plants in their third week of veg. I also fim'd a couple of the lower branches trying to maximise my yield for the size that i can grow. I have not touched the two AK's. They were just taken out of my friends veg room under 400mh light and put straight in my flowering room. I will get a good idea on just how long i need to veg the next grow. Cagney and Lacy have pretty much stopped growing in height and i can still move my light up about a foot. So next grow i will veg them until they are about 18 inches tall. This time i vegged them until they were like 10 inches tall. And they are now 19 inches tall. I have pics of them when i topped them if you want to see them. Hell give me a few minutes and i will go ahead and post a couple pics of them when they was in their 3rd week.

The first is of Cagney a few days after she was topped. She actually has 3 topps. But the third one is really small but i dont think that i need to cut it off because it does have a few nice lookin buds. The 2nd pic is of Lacy at 26 days. The 3rd pic is of the third top on Cagney and the 4th pic is of the little buds on it.

This was my first grow so did not want to outgrow my grow room. It is only like 19x31x48tall. But now i know how long to veg for. But i will mostly be just getting more AK clones. They are like 14 inches tall when i get them. I think the 2 AK's i got now are going to end up taller than Cagney and Lacy by the time they are done. I have one Afghan seed that i got from a reliable source. And i kinda hope it is a male so i can cross it with a AK-47 to get some good seeds. But that will be a couple more grows down the road. You are right about them being awfully small when they was put into flowering but they do look good for their size.

yes they do sir!!

how many nodes/how tall were they ?

just doin some tihnkkin in my head is all

No problem, when i topped them i think they had 7 nodes. They was like 10in tall when started flowering. I thought they would grow to be around 24 inches tall when done but they are only like 19in's tall now and i dont think they will get any taller because they only have like 4 weeks to go.

I gotta say buster, this little diary you've kept has certainly raised my confidence about my operation I started today. I'm in the process of germinating some random bag seeds and I decided to start building my grow room while waiting for some taproots. I picked up two 40w Sylvania soft white CFL's, two lamp wiring kits for sockets, and made two aluminum can reflectors to fit them. I figure that should probably last me the first few days of sprouting until I can afford to pick up another 4 or so. I'm planning on having a maximum of 5 plants in a 4 ft wide 4 ft long 12 ft high space. I'll snap a picture of my super ghetto rig a little bit later but I just wanted to say thanks for championing the CFL only from Seed to Smoke way of growing.

If i would not have seen the grow by Humbolts i would have never started mine. I am glad that i found this forum too. You can learn alot on here.

question, when u showed me the pic on the last page, the 3 stems coming off of the top where u cut it? is that what i see... and if so, how long did it take for those 3 stems to grow off the top like that?

how did u wire up ur cfls, i want to kinda copy u..
my space is 14''x27''x54''.... i wanna use a 250whps.. but i have no way of venting it,
its in an enclosed area so..

They do look small for thier age but thats more then likely due to the cfls and small pots they are in.The foil is a bad idea also just paint it white in that area.An GK I think is right on the ph issue as they also seem to droop as if maybe getting root bound and not uptaking right which could be nute locked to if the ph is off by alot

You should be fine to start off with. Just dont croud the plants and keep the temps and humidity in check. I have really low humidity, and i think it is helping my plants with making alot of crystals all over the place. So think about it.

I think that most of the reason they are so small is because i did not vegg them long enough. I do need to pick up a ph tester. I hope to have all those things after this harvest. I am strapped for cash at the moment.

Yes that is what you see. I guess you could say that i fim'd it instead of topping it. And it really only took about a week before they started to grow the new tops.
I just wired all the lights up in series positives to positives and negatives to negatives. You will probably still have to vent the grow room even with cfls. I did.

I almost hate to ask up front because I'm sure it's posted in one of the FAQ stickies or is sitting right in front of me within a clearly titled thread, but what's the easiest/most effective way for a budget farmer to control the humidity of a single room?

Anyways, as promised, here are some pics of my up and coming CFL grow-op. I currently have two Sylvania 40w Soft White Twist CFL's under two home made reflectors (cut up cans of Bawls) rigged up to cheap $7.00 lamp socket kits. The lights are secured above the grow tray by polypropylene cord which has a melting point of 160 degrees Celsius and are mounted to the walls via eyelet screws. The game plan is that as the plants grow, I'll be able to gradually raise the lights evenly by raising the mounting of the eyelet screws. (I will lower the height of the lights significantly, within an inch or so of the cups once sprouting beings.) I feel the room should prove to be ample enough space for 5 or so plants.
