He read ONE article about it and has been throwing that stat around in every thread about guns he can. @UncleBuck since you know so much about politics and seem to be the resident troll, I mean expert around here, it’s a shame that you ended up having to build, I mean clean decks for a living. Why does the US have to set a higher standard than Canada when we are starting at such an awful point? The US has 5 gun deaths per year per 100,000 people and Canada has 0.5. A 10x reduction would mean thousands of families wouldn't mourn their dead. Let's get to the same level of gun safety as Canada before we start talking about doing better. We have so far to go, let's not talk ourselves out of starting.
You've seen it before, I'm sure. As with Sanders supporters to whom implementing all of Sanders social programs or they give us Trump means doing nothing for many programs they say are important. A 10x reduction in death due to gun violence is a lofty enough goal for now.

i'm for whatever will work, and won't try to discourage individual states from making it more difficult to obtain weapons illegally, but until they're all on board and cooperating, all we're really doing is making it inconvenient for them....

Agree, it has to be a national policy. California has strict laws but Arizona doesn't. Chicago has strict laws but the counties around them don't.
Gun nuts buy the guns just a few miles away from where it would be illegal.
Then they tell us gun control laws won't work because there are too many guns on the street. Also that the murders were done by people who shouldn't have them. But I don't think they believe anything they say.

A socioeconomic factor that most strongly correlates with rates of violent crimes including murder is poverty. Income disparity in an area is another. I know you'd like it to be race but its not.
Do you know what else is strongly correlated to poverty? Murder convictions.

Who the flying fuck gives a shit about who the general contractor is? Are there not “sub” contractors? Pretty happy I hired a carpenter for my last house I was the general on. Oh, and the electrical contractor came in handy as well. Mason did a great job on the bricks too. By trying to prove some ridicules point you have only proved your immaturity. You guys really need to grow the fuck up.

It would help your case if you knew what a general contractor actually was.
In Buck's case, most of the time he is the Project Manager. Home Owners contact him for his services to build/renovate new decks. Home owners don't typically hire someone to hire someone to build their decks unless they're stupid, have more money than they know what to do with, or both.
General Contractors are in most cases hired by corporations for large scale projects or wealthy owners for complete renovations/additions or new construction on a large scale. More times than not, as an individual, you never want to be a GC. The insurance, liabilities and responsibilities are so high that unless it's a HUGE contract it's simply not worth it.
I've never seen anybody hire a general contractor to build a deck. Very few ever contract a GC for a single home either, even a large one. They hire project managers.
In Buck's case, he's a Project Manager and Owner/Operator. He's not a GC. He never claimed to be and I'll go ahead and bet a million dollars I don't have that he doesn't want to be.
But do continue talking loudly about things you know nothing about.
