I got bored, so I made this for anyone trying to make my exact pot, or close!

all measurements are in inches, sorry about it being messy, the app kinda sucked! but you get the picture and have the measurements, if you planned to make this exact one. I just thought this may help someone. also DO NOT FORGET THE OVER FLOW HOLE, just a small hole, level with the pvc pipe, this stops you from over filling and drowning everything!

or maybe someone could improve on it, and make it better, if u do plz share the design!CM181104-002730003.jpg CM181107-231223001.jpg CM181113-200808006.jpg

I found this video guys, the person making it sucks, but he does have some good info, especially if you know nothing about probiotics! it's 46 min long!

alright I'm going to science the shit out of this for you guys! lol

basically just gunna measure the growth of this girl and see how fast she really grows in a sip, with probiotics! soon I will take 2 clones at the same time, but run them with two different methods side by side! one sip and one smart pot, same soil! this will be the final test, and I'll make sure to stay on top of everything!
she was transplanted yesterday so I will call today day 1! crazy how she looks smaller than she did two days ago! but that's just the sip pot, there is a good 4 inches of space under the plastic that u can't see!CM181114-132913003.jpg

I may have decided on a scrog idea! this is just the prototype, I'm still messing around with it, but I did leave the option open for a dbl layer scrog, if I feel I need one!

the best part I like is that it connects to the same pvc pipe I'm already using to make my sips! it dawned on me in the store while grabbing pvc pieces! lol

I ran some heavy string through it and did a 3"x 3" square mesh. it seems like it will work but I'm still keeping my eyes out for some good type of screen to use!

also it fits perfectly through my door ways, so it can be moved from the veg room and into the flower room after I've taken a shit ton of clones off her and she has filled up the entire screen!

Beautiful modular scrog. Getcha some self tapping screws, drill holes, nylon string and make your own square size. I'd post a pic,but there are plenty around. That way, you ate not confined to "one sized squares fits all" typeah scrogs. That double decker ability, you'll find, will definitely be beneficial.

I actually just drilled holes in the pvc pipe, that way when I pull the string to stretch it tight, no worries of a screw coming out or some shit! I braided it through with two pieces of string total, also so I could pull it tighter than some virgin poon tang! lol

also I been wondering what the dam name of this is! a modular scrog lol thank you for that!!!

Yo, looks like you're doing some cool organic sips here!

You mentioned you were interested in high brix, but burning through the thread i didn't notice and refractometer measures or anything. And it looks like you're running a lot of dolomite lime--is this still the case? Anywho, definitely interested and subb'd up.

You ever settle on a mulch--it looked like barley straw a couple of posts back in one of the pots, but I'm not real sure about that. I need to figure out a good mulch and a good mineral content profile--glacial rock dust, calcium sulfate/ gypsum in the soil and then maybe calcium nitrate in a foliar; also looking to incorporate turface both for mineral and soil porosity.

I'm mostly in airpots just stuck in water trays right now, but i'm interested in doing a soil wick again--i liked it a decade ago when I was trying it with chemical fertilizers and then liquid organics, because i wanted to use inert media and take advantage of organic flavor while maintaining 'the control' and supposed 'explosive growth' of hydro. needless to say that experiment failed and i went full organic soil shortly thereafter and havent looked back.

Sips with wicks might let me focus more energy on keeping the rootzone warm. I run air pumps in the catchtray/reservoirs to keep roots healthy and happy, but if em1 obviates the need for that in your setup, I might be more interested in it. Airpot rootpruning is pretty crucial for longtern vegging and allows for some pretty monstrous fruits; of course, the rectangular setup allows for nice broad root system so might be a tossup on the root system comparison. I'll start thinking about it for the next black d.o.g. run.

Be easy,

:peace:

yes I'm still using dolomite lime, I've been told is a must, in order to not have to touch the plant throughout the entire grow

as for mulch I don't use any on the probiotic sip, it's covered with a black plastic bag, and has tons of mycelium growth, so no mulch at all!

as for the air pumps, there is no need bc em1 is anerobic, with the way I'm doing it I think all parts work in sync, if you skip one the whole thing falls out of wack, so no nutes or anything and dolomite is a much for pH! as for the root comment I really can't say, I just know before this I've used smart pots for years, and this method is blowing them away on any side by side I've done!

Have you considered gypsum instead of lime?

-brew store
-garden store pelletized, dissolve it and dry. I heard its faster acting so thats what i chose for my mix . Il letchys know if it works

gypsum is also in my recipie! good source of trace minerals!

this is the thread where I've went in a shit ton of detail and pics, about literally everything I know about this method!

also update on the gg, I went ahead and did that "imitating the cow shit" thing that I talked about today, sorry didn't take pics of it, I just mixed my homemade ewc, and Malibu compost, small glob of molasses and a hand full of grokashi! plopped it onto that top of my sip, and covered it and duck taped it closed for the rest of this grow! from here on out its just em1 and water in the rez and watch it grow!

the best part about doing it this method, I literally have zero work let to do on thus girl, ya know other than tucking the branches, and stuff like that, but nothing else is done to the soil or sip, just top off the rez with water and em1! no top dressing or feeding, nothing!

if I've left anything out or missed something someone let me know! but I'm pretty sure I've covered everything I know in this thread, the rest of this Will just be watching the results, and maybe even a side by side!
