It's been unseasonably warm this whole fall and winter season.

Has anyone else noticed something similar in their area?

We had a cooler than normal early fall, but there has been so much rain in late fall and winter, it only gets cold when a cold front comes through to push the rain out. It's in the 70's today. But a cold front is on the way.

Is this significantly different than in years past? How is it different? I would expect Florida to be warmer, wetter and have more severe storms. Is this the case?

Things are definitely significantly warmer and drier here in Northern Colorado than they were when I was young and that's a trend that has persisted for a quarter century. In fact, it's tracked very well with increased CO² levels and observed global warming.

We now have the climate of the Northern New Mexico of my youth. This has led to drought, record breaking wildfires and an existential threat to native flora and fauna. Many habitats have moved upslope to higher altitudes but there's only so far up one can go, nevermind the fact that as altitude increases, suitable land decreases exponentially.

It's not normal to have this much rain. The last couple of years have had some colder than normal weather, but not for long each time. Like in my 16-17 spring crop, I had lows of 25F to deal with. Then last year we had over a week in the 20's with two nights down to 16F. I lost my whole crop to that.

Over all it's warmer than it was when I was a kid. We had a good inch or two of snow every 8-10 years. Now we might see some snow flurries, but there hasn't been one to stick in a long time. The last time I remember it getting into single digits is in the early 80's.

A lot of things with the weather aren't normal anymore..
By the way this Harvard excuse is just that, an excuse, just another deflection. I've been telling people for 20 years that they're Global Engineering, it's the "why" that I'm not totally sure about

We had a flood warning before the Hurricane, and it's been in effect most of the time since. I've been wanting to check out the little section of the Florida Trail near me to see if it's been cleared of downed trees yet, but you can't get in without wading. So I'm betting it's exactly like it was the day after the hurricane.

Between that and sea level rise I'm beginning to think Florida is disappearing before our very eyes.

Gulf front property for me, in a few hundred years. All over the world most big cities are built in port towns.

The local flooding is due to the rivers and creeks being full of down trees, and it raining so much. But as soon as it dries out, there will be some big wildfires. {right now there is more fuel on the ground than at any time in the last hundred years} Hope to get my shit taken care of before that happens.

wunder took over the intellicast site with their program :(
I saw that. I like wunderground because they had a weather station a half mile from my work. It was as local as you could get. But that was pre-hurricane. Now I have to go to the next town over to the east, which is about 10-12 sky miles from the house, or a station toward Panama City, which is about 12-15 sky miles from the house. I use the one to the east, as the other is closer to the Gulf, and that has an effect on rain chances and temps.

Cold and windy today. Glad to be inside. At 1415 it's mostly cloudy, 43F with 10mph N winds. {wunderground is being a bitch, so I don't know what my RH is} Forecast high low of 44/30F with no chance of rain the next two days.

I recently saw a video made by a climate scientist that said weather patterns will stall, creating deep cold in the East and Midwest and unseasonable warmth in the West.

The stall is caused by reduced temperature differential between the Arctic and lower latitudes, reducing the Jetstream winds that drive the movement of weather.

Look up Paul Beckwith, climate scientist at University of Toronto on YouTube or his webpage here;

The poles have shifted, also. Both North and South, I'm not positive but I do believe it factors in to weather changes.

The poles haven't moved. That's a magnetic phenomenon and has nothing to do with climate change.

The center of cold in the North has shrunk and shifted so it's now over Greenland instead of the Arctic Ocean. This will have serious impacts on the Jetstream and thus weather at lower latitudes.

We had a windy night. The jury rigged shed roof lost a sheet of metal. A very pretty day though. At 1725 it's sunny, 49F with 48% humidity. Forecast high low of 54/36F with 10% chance of rain tonight.
