Going away on harvest day

I am leaving for jamaica for a week and the day i leave is the day after harvest. I will be gone for 8days. I was wondering if i cut the trees at the main stem and let the tree dry as a whole will this slow the drying process so that theY wont be over dry by the time i get back.

If you cut the entire tree as a whole and hang it to dry then yes it will delay drying, they should be ok when you return. Try and keep a fan oscillating in the drying space BUT NEVER DIRECTLY ON THE BUDS OR THE TREE because this will speed up drying but you must have one in the room to keep the air moving and avoid mold. Good luck bro and have a good trip.

Depending on you RH in the dry room, you may kill the chance of a proper cure. Once it reaches 50% humidity in the bud (wait for confirmation on humidity) the taste is locked in, and a standard air cure won't help. Leaving during the most important phase. Vacations during the growing cycle are risky enough, but way more risky during drying/curing.

I'd almost consider not harvesting until you get back.

Your choices are a bit overripe versus what Grumpy said (overdry).

Personally I think overripe is way better than overdry.

If I give it a heavy watering a day or 2 beforehand hang the whole tree won't that take about a week before they are ready to cure in jars?

how long do you usually let the plant dry when you hang everything without trimming?

I would not harvest until you get back. You will either dry them to dust, or run into mold issues trying to prolong the drying cycle.

Same as when you hang it individually; each case varies depending on the grow. Usually only adds a few more days (2-3) to the dry. Just more plant matter to suck moisture from so it takes a few more days.

I would harvest when you get back. Water the he'll out if then the day you leave. And when you get back soil will be dry as a bone but plants should be alive and ready to harvest. If you cut the day befor you will have 9 days of drying and you not watching for mold or overdry. Very risky. And most plants get harvested erly anyways do the extra week might just be better. and it would depend on the trics. I haven't been abule to teach my plants to read a calendar yet. So trying to get a trim date never realy works. Enjoy your trip and get your fingers ready for work. Lol

Rezin water the plant with ice cold water give it a good amount. Also leave it in the dark till u get back crystalss will be all over the place and ur leaves will be covered.then when u get bak ull be able to dry jus long enough and have perfect buds..have a good trip!

if you have a friend you can trust have them put the plants in dark 3-4 days before you get home, so when you get home you can cut them down.

if i give them a real good watering then leave them in the dark for a week will they be ok when i get back?

Umm hydro? Not at all. Soil maybe. Check out the thread of 7 days dark. Sorry I'm in the muddle of trimming so can't look for the link.

A good watering and buy a $10. programable digital timer and program it to stay off the last 2 or 3 days
I tried 2 days of darkness b4 harvest but it did'nt seem to make bigger buds.
