Heat shouldn’t be to bad with that light don’t get cool tube there trash the glass gets dirty and you loose light power just an ok exhaust fan and Euro reflector will be fine you might be better or getting a 600w digital ballast which is adjustable so you can run it 400 and if you need more you got it

You can get fuel spectrum bulbs which do both

ok so i have decided what im gonna do is try to get 2 42 watt cfl bulbs and put them in reflectors on each end of the tent and then with the vipar spectra at 250 watts it should be 334 watts, so for my tent at 6.25 sq/ft x 50watts = 312 watts, so i believe my lighting issue will be resolved. the seedlings seem to be doing much better, i can see the starts of a new growth too, i almost bet its just from the t5 in there from today, they were probably starving for light. ill post some more when i get it setup. i think when i get up ill give them a spray of the organic nutes, just a wek blend

so i got the viparspectra and set up two hanging 28 watt cfl 6500k lifhts hanging form the sides, heres the pictures now

oh yeah and any suggestions about pulling runts? these are not feminized seeds so going to have to pull the males anyways, whats the best way to find out as quick as possible 1. which are strongest and 2. which would be female? pretty sure the seeds are good genetics so do you think theres a 50/50 chance of male and female? if thats the case i want to get down to 4 strongest plants as quick as possible, or 6 of the strongest. i forgot to remark which strain is which

To sex the plants, flipping to 12 12 until they show, and then revegging is the way. Or you can send samples to a lab apparently.
Lights. Go to the indoor forum here, the led subforum, and start reading. I've built several now, all state of the art, at about 1/4 what assembled products cost. Or you'll get steered to the best companies like hlg, timber, rapid, and chill led.

Don't pull runts, males tend to grow taller and faster. Those "runts" might just be your keepers

you think what i have is sufficient now though ? viparspectra 600 (270 total watts)
2 24 watt cfl- 48 watts
318 watts total for 2.5 x 2.5 space - 6.25 sq ft (probably less realistically)

6.25 x 40 watts = 250 watts total
6.25 x 50 watts = 312.5 watts total
i know the cfls are hard to judge actual watts hitting plants but i think i should be good for two plants

It'll grow plants. I'd chill with that, read up, talk to the people using them and then make a choice that will work for you well into the future. You are for sure fine for veg. I do wait myself, but I'm looking for good males and have the space. The revegging thing allows people to concentrate on only putting females into their flower spaces. 4 weeks is probably to early to show sex in veg, when it shows varies from strain to strain. Sometimes you can find a grow log of some one growing the same strains and get an idea of what to expect. Sometimes they are very detailed and helpful, sometimes not lol.
Don't freak! Stuff will happen, I've panic cut plants before and hours later found a remedy that would have made that unnecessary.

yes exactly gonna stick with this and see how it goes, in the meantime going to research what to get for next light, im thinking 250 hid for my size tent. i wish people where i am woud get with the program, im trying to setup grow ops at different houses lol so i can always pass on my old lights

Looking good today mate keep an eye on that light make sure it’s not to close a good exhaust fan will deal with any temp problems you can also usually tell the sex 7-10 days into flower at that point scrap the males might be good idea in future to buy fem seeds makes it bit easier keep up the good work

i already have fem seeds and auto fem seeds ready for the next grow. i am keeping the vipar 18” away and the crls are hanging about 8”. is that about right? i have read that i should keep it farther then bring the light closer, but not really understanding that part, how am i supposed to know either way?
also tenps seem to be pretty steady at 80, i do have a good inline fan/carbon scrubber. today was pretty hot anyways, think tomorrow will be better.

so as above post said, i should switch to 12/12 ar what week to determine sex? and then flip back to 18/6? going to google it some more but just wondering out loud here again.

was i supposed to soak the CANNA TERRA PRO PLUS from the start? not sure if this growing schedule takes into account me using the TERRA CANN PRO PLUS medium, think i was supposed to use soil

You don’t need to flip back to 18 6 just go to 12 12 when your ready to flower I’d say when there a good 12 inches tall then after a week or 10 days they will show signs of male or female mate bin the males and continue as normal I can’t help u with the canna feed as I don’t use it I find it expensive and over complicated someone else might be able to help I’d put the light up higher and then if it’s looking good move down but start at least half meter away cfl don’t matter how close they are they won’t cause damage

going to get a co2 generator off of amazon, also i wanted to mainline/manifold the plants, my thinking was to veg them until they show preflower, then mainline the ones i want to keep (hopefully one of each strain)

Don’t bother with co2 in my opinion it’s really only good if everything else is been upgraded first mainly comershall growers that use it and if this is your first run keep it simple just let the plant do it’s thing trust me you’ll have enough to worry about keep at it bro

ok im back have a couple questions too

1. terra canna pro plus is what im using, its a coir blend i belive, the stuff feels dry as hell, i am regretting the peat plugs because they dont dry at the same rate as the coir, i can see a ring where the plug is that isnt dried out, what should i do?

2 anyone used this stuff? how long does it take to dry? i told myself i was t going to water for a week now that all the plants have leaves and i was going to give tgem a good soak and then wait a week, does that sound good? i dont think the coir can go a week without water though. let me know what you think.
