I’ve seen you’re up to date on light meters. I’m not. I bought that cheap meter just to compare the new led’s to my DE’s. I don’t even know the difference between micromole and ppfd. I’m dumb. The numbers were close. Is that meter any good just a joke?^^^^

Looks like the original hydro farm one?

All I remember from that one was the battery died fast and the cable inside the sensor broke. But the few videos I’ve seen of it were pretty close to the apogee. It’s gets you where you want to be for sure, I wouldn’t upgrade until it breaks myself.

Hey so, is umol same as ppfd number? Same thing?

Yeah i’m dumb like that.
UMol is PPF (photosynthetic photon flux) = uMol/s
PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density) this is a unit per area. (uMol/s/m^2)
efficacy = uMol/J = uMol/s/W

so if you have a light fixture that's 600W and does 2.7 umol/J mean it's produces 2.7 X 600= 1620 uMol/s (PPF).

PPFD is then a function of the distance to surface and the area the light is falling on as well as how many light sources and their emission angle

but basically PPFD has to be measured. Otherwise you would need some crazy math to figure it out.

Basically PPF= how many photons are being emitted from the light.

PPFD= how many photons are falling on your area per second.

Pictures are a couple days old taken on day 42. Been running 11/13 light schedule since day 21. Using the photo bio par meter I have reading at canopy between 1100-1400, lights are at 92%. Started off with high temps and humidity, 84-85 air temp, 82 leaf temp, 70 percent RH. Slowly started dropping temps at day 21. Right now at day 44 temps are at 79-80 and rh 55%.
Had a rough start under the leds but after adding more cal mag plants picked up and have done amazing so far.

You can be Proud of that Grow for sure. All I can say is just WOW !!!! Beautiful Job Keep up the great work. I love my LEDs but I certainly don't have the amount of light you have, But Love my LEDs. Saves me money all around, and I was very nervous as well changing from HPS after 20 years of using them and changing to LEDs,
Thanks for the great Eye candy it's a treat... :)

Thanks man, appreciate it. I still love my hps, I have two still hung in the front of this room and 6 in my other flower room. I’m thinking of going with 10x650 watt bar style in that room now though. Only because I don’t wanna add another ac and figure I can cool that much with my current mini split. It will be a little while though, since I don’t do outdoor fall and early winter is not a good time for me to be trying to make upgrades. And prices are coming down on that style fixture, floraflex has theirs for 650 and I can get a good deal on the luxx 645 as well. I really do like these 1930 but 10 of them would over power my mini split in that room.

I honestly just think 4 mini splits behind a small garage might look funny(like 3 doesn’t), but if I added another mini split I could just add my remaining de lights to that room for the time being. Oh well too late now got a run in there I’m about to flip in a week. Maybe I will be in better position to upgrade after that run.

How are those 1930’s working out? Getting close to the same numbers?

Just about to pull the trigger on picking up 24 1930e's for a new room. Would you two guys recommend these or are there any other suggestions for the space? Canopy area will be 15'x40' and 13' ceilings.

I am taking down in 3 days, just waiting on one strain that’s being a hit slow. It appears to be a really heavy run even though one strain seemed to fox tail and not dense up as much, prob me running temps too high for that strain but the others loved it.

I really like mine so far but I haven’t chopped first run yet. But I can tell the quality and weight is there with most strains, once I get that figured out my numbers gonna be real high. The penetration and amount of light is a lot. Can be too much if your not careful.

Gavita 1930e is 2.5umol/j and about $1300USD.
2.5x 780W= 1950umol
HLG scorpion Diablo 650 is same price at 3.2umol/j

3.2x650 = 2080umol

Given the same price, I'd pick the HLG product for a little better spread. More more light and running 130 watts less than the gavita.

For me it would be a no brainer but of course there’s many ways you could light up the room.

With them 13’ ceilings I would def go with the 1930’s and set them up as you would DE’s. 4’x6’ layout per fixture. You can actually spread them out just a little more than that if lighting up the whole room.
Ya just keep the lights up high no moving up and down. With 13’ ceilings, but also depending on your growing style, prob mount them like around 2’ - 3’ below the ceiling. I got 12’ ceilings and i’m around 16” below ceiling.

run the room a little warmer than you do with hps.

That's one of the reasons I am seriously considering the 1930e's, I don't want to be chasing the canopy height with the lights throughout the grow. At home I like to Scrog but for my grow rooms (not at home) I prefer Sog or big and bushy when I have the ceiling height (like to change it up every now and then).

Thank you very much!
