Gavita 1930e vs gavita de

So like the title says I’m finally going to try led, but probably not the ones most of you guys would have bought. Lol. But I have two rooms the same exact same size (12x24). They are set to run 30ish days apart.

now as long as I get another ac for the de room, I’ll run the same amount of fixtures - 8 as the led room. If I don’t have the money yet I might have to do one more run with just 6 de. But that would be a cool comparison as well cause it would be the same amount of watts per room.

I just ordered them today and my room won’t be empty for another 2-3 weeks. But I’ll get pictures when they get here and keep this thread updated since I haven’t been able to find many grows showing the gavita 1930e.

Only thing I trip out on is it seems the buds take longer to finish compared to under DE. Why i dunno.
But other than that, they seem to be a direct replacement for 1000W DE. I haven’t quite hit the same numbers yet that i get running DE at 1150W though.
They do kick ass.

oh yeah. Now that my AC’s don’t need to work as hard, def needed more DeHu. Totally worth it though.

I’m hoping since I’m going from 6 to 8 fixtures my yield will be comparable, but I’m averaging 3 or more at 1150 on the de. How many lights and what size ac do you have if you don’t mind me asking. I’m thinking of adding another mini split but not sure.

How much longer do you think they are taking, sorry for all the questions but hadn’t talked to anyone that had any yet, made me super nervous to drop 10k on lights but I’ve kinda come to trust that if gavita puts out a light it’s gonna be quality, might be expensive but they make good stuff.

Well for example. I usually chop down my wedding cake at 10weeks from flip. I switched to led and now i’m chopping at 11 weeks.

I follow a couple guys on ig that run leds and they talk about lowering your dli at the end to initiate finishing faster. Like drop down from 12/12 to 11/13 then finish as 10/14 for last week. I dunno if that would work but might be worth a try.

Right on.
I run a perpetual setup in that room though so that wouldn’t work for me.

always been too afraid I’d get bugs or mold to run perpetual in the same room. I like being able to spray and set off a prokure fast release between runs. I do have 2 flower rooms instead of one big one though so I can stagger harvest to 30-45 days apart to spread out some of the work.

Oh yeah i know all about that shit lol. Been growing this way for quite some time. It happens here or there. And does make getting rid of the problem allot harder. If I stay on my routine spraying in the veg room, i’m usually good.

WTF are you guys doing with the DE's? At least tell where you posting them please.
I’ll hang em up around here some where, add some to my other flower room as soon as I add more ac. And in winter prob try to find some blue bulbs and run em in veg. I got some hortilux ceramic hps bulbs that might be good for that if can’t find de metal halide bulbs that work in the gavita de fixtures.

Mine aren’t going anywhere else for some time unless I just fall in love with led. Lol. I get great yield and quality off the DE.

might end up wanting to checkerboard them back into the room if I feel the quality would benefit or something after a few runs all led.

The most likely contender is missing far red on the led fixture, speeds up flower a bit. Some even say that the HPS "afterglow" could work a bit like people doing end of day treatment with far red. Not too sure on that one.
I don’t see the hps glow being long enough to have any effect. I would say it’s most likely the spectrum difference. But I’m gonna play with shortening the lights on schedule toward the end. I have some more reading to do to fully understand DLI but it stand for daily light intake and apparently some guys are finding faster finishing time by messing with lowering it toward the end of flower.

I think the reason they finish faster under gavita is that the gavita is throwing an extra 400ish PPF of IR. So I think as a result of the IR signalling early finish.
Most of Bruce Bugbees info is kind of saying that IR photon should count towards the par range. So I think in reality the gavita still gives off more useable light. And probs why your yields haven't been better with the LED on a per light basis. But my possibly be better on a watt for watt basis. Albeit you are spending like 300W less per fixture going with LED. And there other advantages like being able to grow into the space under the lights and not e to avoid it for heat reasons.

Hmm mind explaining ir to me a bit, I guess I could google but gotta go strip a room for the next 8 hours lol. Where does it fall on that scale like 700? So would those far red flower initiating pucks or strips work to do the same thing and if so I wonder how many you need to efficiently cover a 5x20 row?
