You misunderstand,

The lock has nothing to do with it, the odor control and complete internalization of odor control, ballasts, and nutrient system have way more to do with security then a lock, I feel that in your passion to prove DIY superiority your missing some key selling points.
LOL...... I didn't misunderstand anything! Any amateur could accomplish the same without dropping $5-6 K!

I dont use one of these personally because I have the room, but I defenitly would consider one in an apt if the situation called for it.
So you are touting a product you haven't used yourself.... you are just regurgitating information from "friends" who have them???

Another thing I dont get with the expense issue is that these things grow weed, 1oz, 1lb whatever you get with weed hovering northwards of 400 OZ it dosnt take a lot to earn back your investment.
ROFL...my cheap hempy buckets will outgrow your "cabinet" ANY and EVERY time... and at way less then half the cost and effort!!!!:fire:

Also I think that seriously handicapped medicinal marijuana patients that might not have the physical ability to DIY or outfit a closet like an able bodied grower would. We cant forget this is the excuse were using to legalize this shit.
Could you be more of a salesman .... and/or possibly the biggest scum of all!!! You want to prey on handicap people to help sell your product.

If one is so handicapped that they can't manage watering a plant or two then just how do you propose they harvest, trim, dry and cure it?

STOP trying to promote this waste of money on this site!

You can build your own. If you get mad at that box you cannot change anything about it because it is fixed so you should make sure that is all you will ever need or want.

Florida girl, you sound angry, please puff some flowers and chill

I am not a salesman, im an opponent of absolutists, for some people the cost is not a big issue compared to the convinence of simply buying commercial equipment.

I never argued your hempy bucket could not beat it. relax, nor do I have a "cabinet" I have a large flowering room.

You act like there aren't sick, physically infirm growers that must grow for themselves. They can get friends to help them harvest but what about growing? Again, you cant simply dismiss this by calling me salesman scum when I feel like I can very easily rationalize uses for these types of systems.

Saying I cant relate information that I have from unnamed "friends" isnt fair. The anonymous sharing of information is what this site is about. I have friends that grow pot in the producer, Philadelphia, warehouse apartment, enough for 3 every day smokers and friends. Do it better cheaper whatever, but the fact is a WASTE OF MONEY, would have to be a waste. They do get something out of it. They get unlimited free weed out of it. I just dont get why everyone is so aggressive at accusing people who buy these things of being idiots or being stupid. Its just another of many options especially if that price range isnt a huge issue for you. AGAIN Im not saying YOU cant do it better, but if you admit that some might not be as able as you are means there could maybe possibly be a market for these devices.

Iv read your previous posts, You might be a crafts...woman who can out build man things...awesome. But some people are not as gifted and dont have the patience to learn or feel like investing in a tool cabinet.

Think, think really really hard, is there really no situation you could see these being useful?

Again I just like to stay away from absolutism, waste of money is an entirely subjective statement, and please dont accuse me of being a salesman. Im a pot grower like you and I feel we should have mutual respect for each other.

Scum? :( Please be nice, if iv hurt your feelings or insulted you in any way I apologize

Edit: I wish you guys would research this to prove they are WASTES of money. Nodrama grows good weed in these, now, currently, on this site. Here is a like to something from him with good pics and a harvest report.

Hes trying to pull a pound, but even if he gets 10 ounces from that 60 ounces wet its still not a WASTE. YOU can do it better/faster/cheaper but some cant.

My thoughts are, if you want to buy it- buy it. No doubt it will work fine. It's also a very nice setup. I would buy one if I were in the market for something like it, and if you can get good testimonials from people here, then more power to you! Let us know how you choose.

Oh, and a +rep for the patient, and rational way he speedhabit handled the nonsense.

The veg box is still overpriced, but everything is good quality, fireproof, and you don't have to screw with anything.

Here is my 2 cents...

I been growing for 12 years. I started with soil and moved up to hydroponics. When I first got into this hobby, I built my own grow cabinets. Then moved into building out a closet, and eventually an entire room. It wasn't cheap, and it was a pain in the ass. There was a HUGE investment in tools to buy the proper saw, drills, electrical, etc to convert a room. It was a huge under taking and took months. Tools and components are more expensive than you think when you add up every little part.

It ended up costing a lot more money than I planned when you start adding up all the little parts, plus the tools, and everything else. Not to mention totally fucked up the room by drilling into the walls, and the room couldn't be moved if trouble was approaching. Not to mention busted if the property owner ever came in!

After a close call (my ex girl friend called the cops to report my growing after we broke up) I learned I want my grows portable! Converting a room or a closet just isn't worth it when you need to break it down and run, and to be honest it took about 6 months to get my room dialed in and running smooth. There was a lot of re-work and the design was constantly being changed and improved. All in all my room cost my over 10k and looked like amateur hour; IE UGLY. I did learn a lot, and could do it better next time, but it really wasn’t worth the learning time and expense, plus the chance of getting caught, and the repair bill for fixing the room when I moved out. The walls and carpet were completely destroyed.

When I moved into my new place, I wanted a professionally built unit that was ready to grow the day I got it. I was prepared to spend the money on a commercial system for the expert design, and the convience of having a unit delivered ready to use. I originally bought a Sunlight Sheds Cool Cab that turned out to be a total piece of shit. Ran hot, and was terribly over priced. Ended up gutting it and selling the parts on eBay for less than I bought it for.

Researched the hell out of grow boxes next time around, and eventually bought me a Bloombox which I paid $3400 for, plus $250 in shipping. It is a nice unit, and served me well for 2+ years. I have been getting decent results from it, and I am happy with this purchase. Let me say that you do not need a tall growing environment to get a great yield. Short, dense plants deliver the goods regularly. My Bloombox has performed well, and I don’t regret getting it. I would fill a room with these if I had the spare cash.

The problem with the Bloombox is that it runs a little hot though, and doesn't have as much light as I would have liked. I actually supplemented it with an additional 400 HPS and been kicking ass ever since. BUT maintenance is a pain in my ass. I can't even leave for a few days without worrying the water will run out, or the pH will drift off making the solution toxic.

I just took a VERY close look at that Cultivator Pro, and I must say HOLY SHIT; that thing is SWEEEEET! It looks like it has 9 fans on it, so I bet it doesn't run hot like my Bloombox. The BCNL only has a 400, but the Cultivator has a 800w system and t5’s too! And it lets you run both MH and HPS at the same time. Never seen a grow box that can do that before!!!!!!!!!!!!

The technology on the Cultivator Pro is amazing. It looks like it fills your system with water and nutrients when you’re gone, and adjusts the PH for ya all by itself! That is absolutely sweet as hell. I have not seen after market technology like this for sale anywhere and believe me I looked. All you do it yourselfers are full of shit if you think you can just slap one of these together with aftermarket parts and get the same results. I paid the same price for my Bloombox and it doesn't do half the shit the Cultivator Pro does at the same price. Shit, if I would have known about the Cultivator Pro, there is no doubt in my mind I would have got it over my Booombox.

Plus, it has wheels so it can be moved, it can vegetate as well as flower, has fan noise controls and looks sweet as hell. But best of all, if the 5.0.'s roll up on me, the shit is outta there in 5 min!

I have built my own rooms.

I have bought several brands of grow boxes.

BUT

I have never seen one as completely mind blowing as this thing. I think the price is very fair considering what that technology would cost to buy, and some of it isn't even available to consumers. The learning curve on trying to build your own just isn't worth the time when you can get one of these ready to use. So what if the company makes a little bit of profit on this. They provide free tech support, free nutrients for a year, and a system I can walk away from and not have to worry about my plants dying. Trust me. A grow room is like a kid, can’t leave it for a second!

After seeing this product, I will be taking my profits from my next harvest and buying 2 of these Cultivator Pros for commercial harvests! One for flowering and one for vegetating. I for one am extremely impressed that a commercial company finally listened to what growers wanted, and built a bad ass box that really works.

Forget doing it yourself. You couldn’t make one of these at home, and your half ass final product would be ugly, unsafe, and wouldn’t end up doing ½ the shit this thing does. And believe me, you’re not saving as much as you think! Keeping my ass outta the slammer is worth the money for the peace of mind. Shit, the asking price isn’t really that bad for a system that will pay for itself after the first harvest.

Just my 2 cents..

UPDATE: I took the plunge and ordered this bad boy from Homegrown Hydroponics.

I ordered it with the upgraded Co2 system with PPM controller, water chiller, and light defusers. Overnighted my payment for them to begin construction.

They gave me for FREE a mini herb dryer for $350 and also a free ultra sonic fogger for $150. Nice doing business with them.

I will post photos as soon as the unit arrives in a few weeks...

Will start a grow thread on this as well compared directly with the Bloombox. Should be interesting to say the least growing from scratch side by side.

I can't wait...

Wow, huge investment.

Out here the people who are disabled or can't grow for themselves just order weed deliveries and pay for it, or they find a caregiver who grows for them no charge, or there are people who build grow ops for cardholders for a fee. (Something I will be doing again soon and have done in the past)

Problem solved...

Anyway I hope you end up liking that system and it works out for you. I still don't see much point in all the automation since no matter what you'll still have to tend to the garden, but to each their own.

It's cool though...

I got the automation because in the past my 12 flowering plants died in my Bloombox. I went off to Mammoth for a weekend of snowboarding. When I cam back all my plants were dead because the water ran out to the level below the pump and 3 months of hard work down the drain. Now I never leave the ladies for more than 2 days without checking on them.

One of the things I really liked about the Cultivator Pro was that it fills itself with water. That alone is worth the price as far as I am concerned. If this features saves just one harvest, and gives me the piece of mind to be able to take a vacation for a few days is worth the investment to me. I have never seen a grow box with a low water alarm like this one has.

Apparently they offer an upgrade where you can even get text message alerts when the water runs low. I dont need to go that far, but I might add this in the future. Overall it did cost alot of $$$ but I know i'll make it back on the firt harvest so not worried..

Yes automatic water filling is cool, I have been thinking about adding that to the ebb and flow system I'm building but since I'm poor I'll just have to use a toilet water level thing and mate that to a refridgerator icemaker plastic line for the inlet.

The biggest question I have about your system is what kind of job do you have where you can drop that kind of coin on stuff and still be a stoner too? If you own a business, please just tell me the type of business.

:)
