In an attempt to get the right consistency, I made the stuff you see below. Too much wax and chlorophyll in the hash unfortunately. If your fingers are green or black after handling iso hash you have left too much alcohol in. Ideally, you should be able to scrape the hash up, roll it into a ball, or whatever shape and your fingers should still be pretty clean. My fingers after this run were too dirty, so back to the drawing board.

It doesn't exactly look as good as the cocoa hash does it? I dont think Ill be smoking this any time soon.

I thought I would share a couple of pics of an oddly shaped fan leaf on one of my Chunky clones.

Does anyone want to guess at what it resembles?

So I recently ordered a HydroFarm Footcandle meter, and got to play around with it tonight. I took lots of measurements of the plants that I will share tomorrow. But for now, one measurement I would like to share is that directly under the generic bulb the outpout at 18 inches was 3400 f.c. The output for the Ushio Hilux Gro directly underneath the bulb at 18 inches was 5700 fc. Holy Shit batman! What a difference.

I knew already the Ushio was better from when Skunk Haze D curved from the generic bulb to the Ushio. Then the temperature differences measured with my infrared thermometer, and now finally the last nail in the coffin. So if anyone of you are still out there using generic bulbs, I would suggest you ditch them, and buy either Osram or Ushio bulbs.

Well thats it for now. Its sleepy time.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I thought about all together just giving up on the grow journal. Its alot more work than people may realize. Especially when one's grow isn't going as planned. I also often times feel like I am talking to myself in this thread..Im glad you are still showing interest Bob :).

Ive also battled problems with my computer the last few days and lost all the pics I had recently taken. Ive still got some on my camera that would be worth showing.

Once I get my pc back up to speed, and whatnot Ill make an update.

Sorry to hear about the troubles, I do read, just haven't participated, but I know the feeling - keeping a journal is hard work. Keep your head up either way, life is a roller coaster, and so is this hobby!

If you have PC issues, Ubuntu is always an option, and it's free ;)

Looks like Ive got all my pc problems taken care of. Now, I just need to finish trimming the Hazy Skunk Haze. Dear god its a horrible task. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I know understand why people tend not to trim sativas like this one..It'd be alot easier to just leave all the leaves on, but Im too ocd to do that. I reckon I will get about 2.5 oz from her after all is said and done. It'll probably take me another two days to trim her. I just finished a 1/2 gallon mason jar, and a large ziploc bag full of her, and that took about an hour. Ive still got 3 more 1/2 gallon jars to trim, and a smaller jar. Once its all trimmed, I will post some pics of the finished product. Super leafy, and very airy. Im now hesitant to grow out any seeds from her..I haven't gotten to smoke much of her, so Im unsure of how good she is, but for now Skunk Haze A is my favorite. Larger yielder, and denser buds than the rest. A & D have actually been curing for a month now. Ive got some stashed away to do a good smoke report.

Im saving up for a vape, so Ill probably delay the smoke report for them again until I can afford it. I will say that its top notch herb, and Im definitely looking forward to growing more of these seeds out. I can't wait to see how they fair against Mr. Nice Black Widow & Shit that finally arrived in the mail about a week ago.

Btw, Gringo thanks for the encouragement. Wish I could share a blunt of Shaze A with you, but we'd never be able to finish it! I actually smoked a blunt of it with 3 other people and I stopped hitting it about halfway through..

so sativas are hard to trim? do they have a lot more leaves coming out of the bud is that why? of the 4 varieties I have growing I have an IcexGrapefruit that seems very sativaish if thin leaves and 11-13 finger leafsets mean anything and it has way more leaves coming out of the buds, looks odd compared to my other plants, 6 weeks into flowering and Id guess at least 4 weeks, maybe 6 till its done

They wont all be hard to trim, but I imagine the more pure it is the harder it is to trim. There definitely are more bud leaves on these girls than the Chunkies, 3rd D, or JTR.

Have fun with your IcexGrapefruit. Definitely sounds very sativa with 11-13 bladed leaves. Ill have to check out your journal to see how it looks.

So I finally managed to trim all of my Hazy Lady finally. I ended up with 1 oz 20 grams. Not as much as I had hoped, but the buds are very airy. Lots and lots of little 'nuggets' of goodness. I dont think I will supercrop sativas in the future unless they have adequate time to develop lateral branching. Doing it during flowering resulted in lots of little nugs.

The smoke of her is just as good or better than her two sisters. I was quite impressed with her the last two nights of smoking her in J's. The first two times I smoked her was in a bowl, and it just didn't take me to that happy place I like to go, but when I smoked her in joints, thats when I get there. Im starting to notice my buds get me higher in J's than bowls, but I hate the nasty taste of papers. It completely covers any taste I get from the buds. I can't wait to get a vape and give it a go. Ive always had a hard time discerning tastes whether its a joint or bowl. I hope a vape will let me experience what Im missing.

I knew this lady was special two nights ago when I tried to drive home...UB's warning about smoking and driving is one I definitely have to heed with this little lady. I smoked a J of her(.4g) with two buddies, and spent what seemed like 2 hours with the plants watering and feeding, and then I decided to go home. I pull out my phone to check the time and only 45 minutes have passed! Time sure flies when high :).

Well I get into my car, and put it in reverse and start to back out. Im being extra careful to avoid hitting two cars on my right, but as Im looking out the side/back windows the scene is getting darker, and then brighter, and this would continue as Im backing out. Oddly enough though, Its taking me forever to back out this time, I keep driving backwards, but I dont seem to be going anywhere, and my eyes are still experiencing brightening and darkening of the area. I finally stopped backing up and looked forward to take a break. Thats when I notice my car is in neutral, and I haven't moved an inch. This really threw me for a loop as Ive never had anything like this happen to me before.

I decided to give it another go, and threw the car in reverse, and started to actually back up this time. The brightening and darkening that was happening went away finally. Now it was time to get out of this driveway and head home. Well it took forever to back out of this short drive way. I knew I was moving though this time. Finally I managed to exit the driveway I was in, and when I looked around to drive down the connecting driveway, I noticed I was about 25 feet into the neighbors yard. Uh-oh. I had no memory of driving into their yard at all. I considered just parking their car back in the original driveway and just waiting for the effects to wear off, but Im a trooper and decided to drive home anyways. I quickly got out of the neighbors yard, and drove down the connecting driveway towards the road.

As I was driving out of the driveway into the main road, I would lose track of the ground beneath me and wonder where it went. Only for the road to 'pop' up again in my vision. I ended putting on the brakes so I could stop and try to regain my senses. As I looked around, I was halfway out into the road, obscuring both lanes.. I really feared for my safety at this point. I wasn't sure I could make it home being this messed up, but I was out in the road, so I gave it a try. Thankfully once I started driving, all these distortions/blackouts disappeared and I had a nice enjoyable drive home with the music turned up loud and sounding great.

Oddly enough, when I was inside tending to the plants I didn't have any of these experiences. Weird.

This lady is definitely a keeper. Too bad she takes almost 4 months to flower, but definitely worth it. Ive got about 50 seeds I made from her to search for something even better in the future.

Once she is cured for a month, Ill try to do a smoke report for each of the 3 Skunk Haze ladies. The other two have been curing for a month and 5 days now.

For now though, Ill show a couple pics of her before she was trimmed, and the finished product. Bag appeal is pretty much non-existent, but thats quickly forgotten about when she is smoked.

Update: Ive been battling what I thought was a magnesium deficiency in my plants again. I went over the changes Ive made recently which included using Bio-Biz Gro & Bloom again as I took the General Organics line up away from the grow site, as well as less chicken manure in the soil as it would burn the Skunk Hazes at 1 cup/10 gallon soil. I dropped it to half a cup. The chicken manure is high in magnesium, and the Bio-Bizz products only supply N-P-K, and no secondary majors, or minors, so no magnesium. I could have sworn it was a magnesium deficiency at this point, so I was foliar spaying with cal-mag +, adding it to watering & feeding, but it wasn't making a difference.

I started to examine the plants a bit closer, and noticed this deficiency is only starting in the middle parts of the plant and progressing upwards. A magnesium deficiency starts at the bottom and works its way up, so I started to look for a different culprit. Thankfully I found this great pdf that I think everyone should have in their back pocket.

After reading through some of it, Ive come to believe I have a Zinc deficiency. Ive been giving the wrong treatments. Of course, the General Organics line has the Zinc Ive been missing. Ive been using the Bio-Bizz products for about a month now, and my problems started within a week or two after I switched to the Bizz. I wont ever be using their products anymore. GO's line is much better than Bizz.

I gave the ladies a feeding of Fox Farms Grow Big yesterday since it had chelated Zinc to help give them a quick dose of what they need. Ill be resuming with the G.O. line-up at next feeding.

Here are some photos of the problem on the Hazy Lady clone and a Chunky Cindie. You'll see how it progresses. Its pretty bad now at this point. Ive caught it too late, and she'll be without fan leaves soon enough, and still has probably 45-50 days :(.

Hopefully, Ive got this diagnosis right this time.

well at least you caught it, its farming, its always something, people who don't understand how frustrating farming can be just will never understand. I had some issues with a couple of mine that after changing just about everything finally straightened out, but my first diagnosis was zinc too, looked just like your leaves, maybe a tad iron def too (on mine anyway)
But what do I know? :) , next time though I'm going with my gut, I've gardened for years and I've not paid attention to my instincts or been too distracted by all the shiny new baubles people keep showing me on these forums :)

A couple of weeks ago I took down the two clones of JTRB. One was topped, and one was untopped.

They stayed fairly healthy through flowering, but they were slow to finish, and I believe that was because they were placed on the right side of the tent behind the base of the bulb. When I used the fc meter to see how much they got, it wasn't much, so I believe that lead to the slow flowering. The seed plants were further along by day 50. I let these go 65-67 days hoping for more hairs to start turning amber, but I had to go ahead and chop them as they both threw nanners along with the JTRC clone.

I believe this was caused by them going further than normal and they made an attempt to pollinate themselves, but thats just speculation. I had tested the tent for light leaks long ago, so I know that wasn't the cause.

Topped lady:

JTRC04.jpgJTRC02.jpgJTRC01.jpgJTRC03.jpgJTRC05.jpgJTRC06.jpg

Her final yield was 10.3 grams. The seed mother was 30 grams for comparisons sake.

Now the untopped plant. This plant behaved much like the seed plant did. Lots of smaller colas around the central one, but they weren't as developed as the seed plant's ones were.

JTRCA02.jpgJTRCA01.jpgJTRCA03.jpgJTRCA04.jpgJTRCA05.jpg

Her final yield was 10.3 grams as well. Pretty surprising they both came in at the same exact weight. I rotated the plants positions every couple of days to try and minimize the effects their position in the tent had on the yield.

I will be trying this again in the future once I have some clones of a faster flowering strain. There's no way Ill try this with the Skunk Haze :).

I only have one pic of them dried and trimmed, so enjoy.

If anyone ever wondered what happened to the Early Durbans..well lets just say they were a complete waste of time. I could have smoked ditchweed and gotten more high.

Not only did they not have any potency, but I dont think they were F1's. F2's most likely. I had some that finished quickly with dense nugs, but yield was crap. Some that flowered like the sativa side of the cross, that barely had even fluff after 2 months of flowering. And then there was the heavier yielding one with decent sized buds that went about 85 days, but the buds were nothing but foxtails, and a huge pain in the ass to trim. I feel Ive been robbed of my money and my time. I wont be giving Seedsman any more of my business ever again.

I thought I would share a couple pics of a cloned SkunkHaze A. I topped her and the other 3 clones recently. This one clone surprised me.

BleedingRubyRed.jpgBleedingRubyRed01.jpg

This is the second time a clone of SHA has bled red after being topped. Oddly enough the three other clones of her did not bleed this color. Nor did a clone of SHE, and SHD bleed. It'll be something to look at when I next top the clones again.

I now call her Ruby Red.
