Florida Man!

I'm in Panama City Beach tonight through Monday, it's bike week here. So I can imagine that they're may a couple of extra " Florida Man " sightings this weekend.

On a side note, as I drove down today I was able to witness some of the hurricane Michael damage that @too larry has been telling us about, and it's bad.... real bad.
The title "Florida Man" puts me in mind of snippets of anthropology I'd read as a youngster. They talked about Kenya Man, Peking Man (regular and extra crispy), Piltdown Man ...
... which I imagine correlates with Florida's exceptional fundie-churches-per-capita index. The Creation story is kinder to Florida Man than evolution ...

Had not heard of this one.

Interesting what folks will come up with to achieve recognition.o_O

In 1912, Charles Dawson claimed that he had discovered the "missing link" between ape and man. In February 1912, Dawson contacted Arthur Smith Woodward, Keeper of Geology at the Natural History Museum, stating he had found a section of a human-like skull in Pleistocene gravel beds near Piltdown, East Sussex. That summer, Dawson and Smith Woodward purportedly discovered more bones and artifacts at the site, which they connected to the same individual. These finds included a jawbone, more skull fragments, a set of teeth, and primitive tools.

Evolution has been described as the tree of life..... but the Florida Man family tree is missing a few branches.

I saw a few bikes heading that way this morning as I drove to work. Have fun, but don't let any idiots run over you.
