These two pics I immediately themed on my first smartphone bout a year ago... I call the theme "The One That Got Away" ...Dammint, JIM!!! Would have been my first 45" plus give or take...that is a classic 3/4oz. Eppinger Daredevle and my own hand made steel leader (NOTHING on the market is worth a F, imo...mine do NOT interfere with lure action)... Man I had her hooked top and bottom of jawbone joint, and she STILL shook both of those hooks after a 7-10 min fight...I have landed large fish by hooking index finger through gill "method" b4 but not this time (and none more than 36" Northerns)... fucked up and left the friggin' net at home... every time I brought her to a stop alongside the boat, when my hand went even out over the water, she just dug in a little bit harder and would "bulldog" me a bit and then just start thrashing again mostly underwater, and she just would NOT exhaust enough to land her without a net. Man I hated to see her go, but I actually felt a great deal of respect for her, too...she deserved her freedom... And it really was most memorable fight I ever had... So, without and further ramblings, The One That Got Away (With proof!!! lol)

Got to fish With and Pete Maina (one of my weekend Musky Hunter Magazine's yearly seminar / outings).... first one myself and the other guy Pete was guiding both got into one at near the same time (maybe 5 seconds apart, they hit) trolling over open water....fun time, no tangles. His was 35" ...Pete said he enjoys when there is a "double" going on, and even better when they are twins.

This next one...can't remember think it was 38-39". This was maybe in 99 not sure of that either lol (The other MHM outing I went to) in Wisconsin, Big Sissabagamma Lake.

EDIT: OOPS! LOL it was the same trip, in '97...

Thanks! Forgot to mention those were my first two muskies...would love to go salt water fishing someday but haven't yet had a chance...and my DREAM would be to fish the Amazon for big fat Peacock Bass...I could die happy then...in 99 caught a 36.5", 18.17# Hybrid freshwater Striper Bass which was not just my biggest ever, but I also Matched the Virginia state record for length and if she would have still had her eggs would have broken the weight record so I was pretty happy with that too.

Got out for a couple of hours this morning trolling for King Salmon.
Only managed a handful of cod and pollack (no kings in the area), but beautiful scenery not to mention having to dodge humpback's. Had a big one blast off just under the bow - I guess he didn't hear us but he was so close I was counting barnacles on his head !!
