Roseman, I read in one of your threads about only having the water pump on for 3min every hour once the roots hit the water. Where do you find a timer that does that? I have been looking

Putting the pump on a timer for 3 minutes after the roots are int he deep water, is what SH has posted on thier site and in thier Instructional CD. But that is not what I do.
SH has a timer that does it.

I leave my pump in, run it ocasionally, and use it to drain the tank.

It comes with a timer for the lights but you can use it to time the pump but i leave min running 24/0 till the roots hit water and then take out the tubes and let the
rw dry while the roots are steadily sucking up nutes

So the plan is to change the water on monday (14 days). In the meantime I still have 1/2 a pack of Grow and Micro each, should I use anymore before changing the water? as of this point they have gotten 1/4 strength nutes. What should the PPM be? Thanks guys

Judging by the pics shown today, (I see two leaves and two itty bitty baby leaves about to be seen soon. ) they are ready for 1/4 but not 1/2 dose of nutes. Just wait two days and then try another 1/4 added, making half nutes.

Monday is so far away in plant terms! I say you wait and see how they do with the 1/4 dose and then decide. It's hell being a noob! PM should be about 250-300 with a qtr load maybe a bit less. That is minus any PPM of your water.

Ph is currently somewhere between 5.75 and 6.0, you guys think I should leave it alone or kick it up a bit?

In order for the plant to take up ALL the nutrients it needs the ph needs to be low and fluctuate up but not past 6.5

Day 10 - they are all going great! looking strong, fourth leaves looking like they should, multiple roots are coming out of the cups. Think I will do another 1/4 strength dose of nutes tommorrow

Make sure you mix your nutes in a quart or so of water (I would use res water as it is pre-ph'd - lol!), stir like a mad man and then dump in res.

I have found the best method for mixing nutes is to first mix the grow and micro in a bowl and then use a mortar to crush them up (like muddling fruit or mint for a drink). Mix them up with warm water in a shaker bottle and over 12-24 hours shake it every now and then. By the end their is nothing not dissolved. But still strain to make sure
