First time grower, experimenting with CFL and Sterilite Box

Yup, first time and thanks :). There are so many well documented grows on here that I was able to get a pretty good idea of what to do and what not to do. I couldn't have done it without other people's errors and successes!

Thanks Bumps =D. I think I might keep a bagseed but am not sure...it really is shit weed lol. Not very good at all. I miss living close to Holland! Bagseed was awesome lol. And I'm still waiting on my seeds from Herbies -.-

Really? I have never heard of that, and here I've been drowning these babies in light lol. So should I just leave one 42watt 6500k on until they get a little bigger? Glad you let me know so that I don't mess up the good plants! Just have one light on now until you tell me what you think! You inspired me to do some more reading too :)

hey Lady.J just a little peek for ya at day 19....day19-1.jpg will post a day 23 tomorrow. hoping full sex will show tomorrow but Im thinking that atleast 4 of them are fem. That little one..day19-oddball.jpg. no idea what the hell that is. been growing wierd since day one. It was the first one thru the dirt when planting all 5 sprouts and the biggest one there was last one out and was in a cup. heres a mistake i make and wont do again. when your plants get to about 2 weeks.... dont spray the foilage. It will look like ya have a powdery dust looking to it and from what I have read, its light burning. (Bonehead I am... duh... what happens when your out swimming all day )
anyways... hope all goes good.

Plants are looking good...hope everything works out with them, and thanks for the tip about the spraying will def keep it in mind.
 
well sorry fer the day delay but I had some probs with my plants and they went sad but fixed that. so on day 23 day23-sad.jpgDay23-sad(nutes&flushed)).jpg I fed them nutes the night before and burt the first staring leaves on bigest plant and abit of the end of leaves on another but other 3 are fine. Talked to some family and they told me to flush the soil out. Told me to get a 5 gallon bucket and put a teaspoon of epsom salt and a cap of peroxide in it. so yesterday I made the solution after letting my water sit for 24hrs. and ran the water thru all of them. well today they look way better and even grew alot overnight. So at day 25 Day25-happyLST1(flushgood&Grew).jpg Im pretty happy with them that I even lst one of them for a try at it.

Today the plants are exactly two weeks old and I've decided to transplant the two healthiest looking ones into 5inch Jiffy pots that I got from Walmart, and throw out the rest. The reason I haven't put them into even bigger pots is because I've read in several places that it is better for the plant if you transplant it to the next size pot as it grows. Am loving the jiffy pots. The entire pot gets wet when you have watered thoroughly so it gives you a visual idea of how well you are watering. Personally I'm always worried about doing too little or too much so having any kind of indicator eases my mind some. I lined the bottom with a short layer of perlite, and used Black Gold potting soil (ordered it online from Amazon, is organic, good reviews and cheaper than Fox Farm). Have seen it mentioned in a few grows so though I'd give it a try. Made sure to water the plants thoroughly before removing from green house pails. Ended up having to use a plastic knife to remove without damaging anything. I noticed that some were turning yellow and were droopy...I am not sure if this is because the seed starting soil has barely any nutrients in it, because the plants needed to moved to a bigger pot, or if I didn't water enough. Hopefully, moving to the new soil and into the jiffy pots will treat this issue. I am trying not to use any fertilizer until the plants are at least 5 week old...however I am considering a crazy / maybe nasty idea :P.

I have been hearing good things about using your own pee to fertilize your plant. Before you say, "Yo, Lady J you are one dirty girl," hear me out lol. As I have said before, this grow is going to be purely organic. There are enough chemicals the government is allowing us to be polluted with, I want to keep my green GREEN. Urine has a strong presence of Nitrogen and adequate amounts of potassium and phosphorus. Not to mention, it also contains many other trace minerals. What is pee but the liquids you have consumed after your body has taken it's desired nutrients. Also, it is sterile (unless you have some kind of bacterial infection you need cleared up). I drink water all day, what's so bad about using my pee in a mixture of distilled water if it would help my plant to grow naturally? You can also drink your own pee as a survival method if you were in danger of being dehydrated(discovery channel ftw). I have to say if I had to choose between a glass of pee and water I'd choose the water everytime lol...but the more I think about it, read about it, see the benefits from it, the more practical it seem to use to help my plants grow instead of chemicals. And it's free!

Hey guys wow well my box has come along good and seeds just germinated, i put seed into soil about 30 min ago going to leave on 24 hours under light, i have the seed under 2 4100k 18 watt cfls and soon going to put into flowering 12-12 with my 100watt cfl 2700k bulb, fans are pretty noisey please any help on how to stop the noise? strain is low girl feminized from attitude seedbank, hope yous all had a nice 420!! also using some all purpose indoor outdoor soil mix i got from store, might make a organic soil for when i replant, going to attempt LST this is my first grow indoor.2012-04-26 20.58.47.jpg2012-04-26 20.59.10.jpg2012-04-26 20.59.23.jpg2012-04-26 21.36.39.jpg

Hey, I know you're probably new so didn't realize but you're posting on my thread and not on the forum! It would be more beneficial to start your own thread so ppl can check in on your grow and give you the advice you need. I don't mind ppl sharing pics and stuff, but how are ppl supposed to search for your grow if you're posting on other's threads? Good luck and no hard feelings.
 
**First I want to say how much photobucket just pissed me off. They made a new editor and ever since I have had problems with pics. So I tried to edit my pics in MS paint and then upload them...Photobucket keeps showing them sideways, and when I rotate it messes up the pic quality. Dumba$$ m-thaf-ckin program!!**

Ok I got that out lol. The seeds from Herbie's FINALLY came. It took over two weeks for them to get here. I've heard other people say they have come faster for them so maybe it was just a fluke this time or whatever but I'm impatient, I've been waiting to get these girls started! So I don't have anything extremely spectacular but it is for damn sure better than bag seed. So I decided to attempt to germinate two seeds for now: Seedsman Original Skunk #1 (feminized) and Reserva Privada Sour Kush (feminized). I am super excited to have these seeds, you just don't know! I heard good things about both and I have a feeling that I'll probably be keeping clones around in future grows!

Last night I put them in damp paper towels and their own ziploc bags. I have already checked on them twice lmao. I know I know, I just can't help myself. If they don't sprout I probably will cry like a big baby.

I am going to keep only one of the bagseed, think that more than three plants would be crowded in the box. Bagseed #1 is looking a little droopy...I watered them again last night. I know that I shouldn't have to water everyday, but I've been keeping the lights on 24 hours and think that it might be causing the soil to dry faster. It was almost bone dry when I checked it last night. I also noticed that there is a slight yellowing of the plants...and I do not believe there are many nutrients in the soil so perhaps there is a nitrogen deficiency. Didn't want to apply nutes to the plants until they were at least a few weeks old but since this is bagseed and wouldn't be heartbroken if they died, I am going to try the pee fertilization method. Going to do 1 part pee to 15 parts water. Again before anyone says how dumb or nasty I am, read my previous post or Google fertilizing plants with urine.
