First RDWC build!!!

It not a big deal, but if you run those 4 unused air ports to two extra stones in each tub, I think it would really help out when you run the air pump as far as output and pump longevity. It would only cost you about 30 bucks.
Those piston pumps are good. Mine did me right for sure. A case fan on it keeps it nice and cool.
I was thinking about tossing another stone in each tote. I already have the stones and tubing so it wouldn't cost me anymore at this point.
It is hanging in front of a circulation fan and getting a breeze across it so i hope that helps

God I'm so glad I don't use air pumps anymore in RDWC... Just looking at those pics brings back nightmares of how loud they are.
My intent was to not have to use an airpump just for the noise reason but the water in the totes appeared to be sitting stagnant since the surface never exchanged even though i was getting circulation. That and the water pump was heating the solution above 74° and i wanted to lower those temps.
I did find that an 6inch length of tubing stuck into the air pump intake cut the noise way down and suspending it just about eliminated the resonance. Door closed on room and i cant hear it:mrgreen:

Cheap 6" exhaust and a 6" intake here. Only run the intake if its hot.
I will say those fans were the single loudest part of my grow. You could hear the noise of rushing air from the exterior vent outside, it sounded like a jet.
Yes mine sounds like a jet reving up to take off too. Moving all that air

Both of my Centrifugal style fans motors shit the bed yesterday. My new style fan arrives tomorrow. It's like a cheap o hyper fan. I'm sure it'll be much quieter than those large ones used before. God those are so annoying and I'll never get one again. Hope to one day get all hyper fans
Im curious about those. Think ill look into em too.

Mine came in today , damn load :| and that should be 35db lol.
Altough i still have to connect my tubes on it. I've read that it would be better already with those on.
Going to check it tomorrow. But probably i'll end up making a softbox for it.

You should switch intake to 4" and run all the time. Fresh C02 is very important.
You read my mind. The intake overpowers the exhaust even on low. A 4" intake would be ideal, but I was being frugal and that just happened to be cheap. Plus the intake air running all the time really cools it down in there, even in the summer.

Tried one of those booster fans from The Home Despot even though I read they sucked. Let me tell you, they don't even do that.

Your plants are looking great. It makes me want to get my first rdwc going faster. I've just started gathering parts for it but soon...hopefully

After several less than stellar soil grows (yellowing and stressed plants by week 5 of flower producing high quality but mediocre yields at best) I decided i wanted to give hydro another go but wanted something requiring minimal maintenance and supervision, and going the 5gal bucket hydrofarm wasnt going to cut it for me. I wanted to create and be handy so after many hours of scour(ing) and reading i decided to build an RDWC system using 19gal totes and a 27gal reservoir to feed em. I started out thinking i wanted 4 plant sites but settled on two since I am using a 5x5' tent and want to maximize space and also intend to SCROG em'.
Sourcing parts was fairly easy once i found a sprinkler supply shop that carried 3" bulkheads and fittings near my home. (Local home improvement stores only carry up to 2" fittings w/o special order)
I figure ill have around 50gal of solution in my system while rnning so i chose a eco+ 350 mag-drive inline pump for my reservoir return. I will be using 1000w PhantomII digital ballast with metal halide super blue for veg and first 2 weeks of flower before switching to a SuperHPS to finish with.
I just put two ChemDawg beans (found in my last grow from clone) in paper towel to germinate.
Where did you get that tray?

Not even a month in and these things are becoming MONSTERS!! Screen gonna be full before weaving branches through. Might be time to go 12/12 to see what happens. Unfortunately no sign of sex yet.

Unfortunately (kinda) one of these plants is looking to be a male but im thinking i want to keep it to get some pollen so i can have my own seed stock.

Question; anyone have some input on how best to isolate him and allow to mature so i can harvest pollen?
Im thinking of hackin it back to one or two branches and removing from tent , placing in a 5gal bucket and growing to mature in a separate closet since the pot is designed to fit over a bucket.

Any input can help thanks

SCROG coming along nicely. Stretch is filling it in thoroughly. I may have jumped the gun a little on the left one being male. Its finally starting to show some pistils. Slow starter i guess. Or maybe hermie (hopefully not) but we'll wait and see.
Meanwhile enjoy some glamour shots!
