First Grow (Wedding Cake)

Hey guys! Thanks for checking out my journal. I have been keeping a photo/badly scribbled one so this is way better!

This is my first grow from seed.

Indoor, growing in tent in spare room
2’x2’x4’ wood box painted soft white
2 holes with fans (intake and exhaust)
I still need to figure out light proofing

Lights: 32w Feit 3 Spectrum LED and 9w Grow Light bulb from Home Depot

Medium: Fox Farms Ocean Forest / Perlitemix (60:40)

No nutrients except top dressing, watering with whatever is available (tap).

Actually started the grow on
August 16.
Found some seeds in my weed from the dispensary.
Put into moist paper towel in baggy

August 19
Seed popped, taproot was through the paper towel. Planted in Miracle Grow starter soil around 11, and by 7 it looked like this

WEEK 1

After a week it was growing fast!! I was worried about it stretching but I’ll take care of that when I transplant it up to a bigger pot.
Still trying to get box set up figured out (light height, fan angles, humidity)

WEEK 2

DAY 9- transplanted from starter cup and mix to a 1 gal with FFOF/perlite mix (60/40)

It’s really taking off now, has its first 3 leafer and starting on its first fivers!!

DAY 12- Sprayed plant AND box with neem

DAY 13- I noticed some small spots on the lower leaves that looked kinda rusty. Wasn’t sure if it’s from the lights after the spray or calmag deficiency, watered with LIGHT dose

WEEK 3

DAY14- these fan leaves are getting big..

DAY 15- Topped at 4th node, good swelling at node by hour 6

(I went out of town for the next 4 days and had my lady watch the plants, watered the morning I left and didn’t see the plant until I returned)

DAY 18- 2 new growth tips are now coming out of where I topped!! FAN LEAVES ARE HUGE very indica-esque

DAY 20- there are actually 4 growth tips!! Did it on accident but I’ll just top these once again for 8 tips!

WEEK 4
I realized this morning in week 1 I forgot to take a picture between days 4 and 7. Got my whole thing messed up so there’s only 4 pics for this week so I don’t have to go back and redo all the pictures. WE ARE ON DAY 28

Pretty good week. Looking like a real plant now! The tops have REALLY come out. Worried/thinking about cloning the two lower branches (last 2 pics) for room and keeping these genetics, hopefully it’s a female.

I went out of town for 4 days and had my lady love keep an eye on my plants. I watered before I left and it really grew while I was gone. I had her not send me pictures (but take one daily) so I could be surprised when I got home.

She’s really liking her new 3 gal smart pot. I was worried about root growth and they were circling hard. I think the droopiness I had noticed was the very early stages of being root bound.

I also covered the exhaust fan just with a towel and lowered the lights from 25” to about 15”. The towel seems to help stabilize temps/rh. Seems to really like it. Did that last night (DAY 27) and noticed a difference the next morning. Temps ran a little high this week, peaking at 82*F some days (hot interior room though).

So I’ve had my dates all wrong. I’m a few days off, I was wayyyyy t baked when I made this.
Oh well!
I AM ON DAY 26
This morning I noticed the plant was not growing as fast as it had been. I added another 17.5w LED light (5000k). Seems to like it! Mad growth on the new tips.
I know I have weak lights so a new one will be ordered this Thursday (HLG 100 V2 3000k).

I pruned some leaves two days ago and threw them away in the bathroom (adjacent to the room I’m growing in) and noticed some bugs yesterday and today in the bathroom. Neemed the plant 5 minutes before lights out. This is the third time I’ve hit it with neem, seems to be very effective.

Looking forward to flowering in a few weeks! Got the box light proofed, all I need is a carbon filter to stop/help the smell.

DAY 27
Today is the day for stressing!
Took off the bottom two branches and stuck em in some ffof with rooting powder under a dome on the floor of the tent.

This gave me more room so I could tie down the 4 new tops and all the side branches. Opened up the plant A LOT and the light penetration is so much better.

Still thinking about taking off the the two lower BIG fan leaves but I’m very apprehensive about it. It would give me so much more room though..

Gonna check her later tonight and update this post here to see if she’s doin okay! I’m sure she will, this plant is a beast.

I’m in 3 gals right now. I think I’m gonna stay there, I plan on flowering in a week or two and I can’t have it get very tall, my tent is only 2’x2’x4’

I also got the box light proofed a few days ago!! Got some thick insulating tape and ran it around the edges of the door. Took some metal tape and ran around the edges and seams.
I even climbed inside and had my girlfriend shut the door so I could look for light leaks. The only time I saw anything was when we ran a flashlight right up on the edge.
Really looking forward to flowering.

Update on LST
She’s doing great! Tips are already turning up towards the light and it’s only been 5 hours!!
The spots on the big fan leaves are from the neem I sprayed last night. It’s never left spots like that before what’s up with that? Maybe I didn’t mix it thoroughly but I was shaking and spraying it so I’m not sure

Thank you I understand I have a bit of an issue with hording seeds I got the zkittles glue from Canucks seeds when they had a 50% off sale I bought 6 seeds of different strains and I still have a full pack of master kush and partial packs of triple cheese, lost coast hashplant, purple Skywalker and dinamed cbd. And I'm still thinking of other strains I would love to get my hands on gsc is one of them lol

DAY 29
Morning after I tied down the branches and new tops! They all look great. The main nodes are super swollen and there is already new growth on the deeper nodes.
All the tips are facing upward already and the stress seems to have made them veg even harder!
