First Grow: Pc Bubbler Attempt (Easy Ryder)

Having never grown anything in my life the first thing i did was hit up this place, I must say awesome site!
mainly i was confused with nutes and still am but im sure ill work it out as i go

I nicked a tiny pc case of my mate, ripped the crap out, covered it with mylar, whacked a fan in it and 2 cfls (im planning on building a bigger grow area with 4 lights in, bigger fan etc)
got a 3ltr tub which is abit small but only one that fits, cut the hole in, rigged up my air pump got my net pots which are damn hard to find over here!
i ordered some hydroton but still waiting on it so had to use some garden stones instead, ill change it up when the hydroton arrives and got my rock wool

first thing i did was get sme tap water and used ph down to get it to about 6 and soaked the rockwool cubes in it overnight and also did the same with the easy ryder seed i m trying out, until it sank in the water

when that happened i made a small hole in the rockwool chucked in the seed and waited after 24 hours i checked on it and the tap root was out, another 24hours and it was alot longer another 24 hours which brings us to today and its coming!!!! the little leaves are there coming up through (ill get a pic of that when theyre out and about)

for the nutes im using ionic grow/bloom and nitrozyme, i also have formulex but probally wont use that, i can only fill the resovoir up 1.8ltrs so gotta keep an eye on ph but seems good atm and i have no idea wht the ppm is and not overly bothered, ill just see what happens

dude that is fucking awesome, i say go with the setup as is and see how it turns out but thats just me. first time i have seen a micro hydro setup and im digging it, i may have to copy this idea and give it a go myself!!!

i wanted a bigger case, this thing is 17" tall lol so ill keep at it and see how it goes

iv also ordered a new pump , this things rattles about like mad lol

hopefully she pops her head up tonight, im well excited haha

iv been told im probally one of the only people to grow and not smoke it, could be a good venture

you should ScROG that thing and you will have planty of room, just going to have to LST for a while in vegg to fill the screen. i bet with that setup you could yeild over 2 Oz dry

see i know what scrog is but lst? low stress training or something? ill have to research im a complete newb at this, yeh ill scrog but haven put it in yet

lst is jus training your shoots.......... how i used to do my fruits was add some weight to the top shoot /shoots(round the top of the main stem but i fim the top growth for multiple mains then lst) forcin em down a bit by tying string to them to pull em down or fishing weights, fiming is waitin till you have a few fan leaves, and the small little growth comming out the top stem you cut that or pull it off, you know the leaves that are comming out, when you do that instead of one main stem you get 2, when those start growin out a bit, tie those down or add some fishing weights to force em down a bit, then when other shoots start growin out keep doin the same, then youll really get in your case multiple colas.......

you'll get it man, if i have acknowledged some of the techniques you can too..........

basically all i had in my head was to scrog, you put the grid suspended over and when bits grow through you pull it back down and put it over a square on the grid thing so it grows out wards, now looking at fim techniques on youtube, i hardly know any of what hes on about like nodes etc haha
ill get it eventually

without using a LST method in such a small case you may only get 5-7 chutes through the screen if that, if you LST the plant you can vegg it untill it fills every square in the screen

ok kinda a quick drawing here, the blue is your bubbler bucket. the green is the plant. you will tie the plant down to the edge of the bucket but let the chutes grow upwards, as the main stalk keeps growing you keep "training" it and tying it down to the edge of the bucket. as it grows the side branching will think they are the top of the plant because of the Auxin <(key term look it up) placement in the plant. once you are done let the main top of the plant grow up through the screen so that it can form a bud node as well,

if you just let it grow straight up its going to just hit the screen and be done with 3-7 chutes depending on how bushy the strain is.

how big should i let her get before i start to do this? im not sure how bushy the strain is but its a auto flower and they dont grow tall anyway

how many days is it supposed to grow seedling to finish?

70-75 days from germination according to Joint Doctor stats

I agree I would LST (low stress training), mainly because of your current height restrictions. I disagree at your guestimate of 2 oz dry harvest out of a 17" height with 4 CFLs, maybe if he had 4-125 CFLs you cant fit them in that space, he is most likely talking about using the 23w (100w equivelant) bulbs and 4 of those would not produce 2oz dry even with the best growers and best nutrients. The bulbs will take up about 4in of the top of his pc case and that leaves him 6-8 in of growing space because he has a little reservoir that takes up space in the bottom of the pc case, also with that small of a reservior it will be really hard to keep temps under 68 degree which one of the most important factors in hydroponics. Im not trying to tell you that it would be impossible to grow in that case but it wouldnt really be worth all the trouble in the end for a 1/4 bag dry.

Also those rocks that you have there, are they out of the yard because if they are they can contain bacteria that can spread disease to your plant. Hydroton clay pellets are mainly use in hydroponics because they are lighter and round so sharp edges dont cut roots, also because the retain a certain amount of moisture that is needed to get the roots started growing down towards your reservior.

The cfls are 30watt, I was going up size the case to a bigger cabinet and bigger reservoir

The stones are off the drive but have been bleached and boiled, they are only temporary until the hydro ton turns up

i didnt realize he was growing an auto, if he had a regular seed there is definatly a chance.......

rotate cold packs for temp controll, you can do it man dont let the haterz get ya down think big
