First grow: Nirvana WR and NL, 600w (PICS)

hello thank you so much for stopping by and having a looksy. This is my absolute very 1st grow.

I ordered 10 feminized seeds from Nirvana. 5 White Rhino and 5 Northern Lights. I plan on growing 8 plants, but i germinated them all. All NL's popped and all but 1 WR's popped. I put them in small containers filled with Black Gold potting soil ( with a mix of dolomite lime) and placed them under a 70w T12 fluorescent fixture 24/7. All sprouted the next day except the 1 WR which never sprouted.

The first pics are of the soaking and the initial setup. I found that i had to raise the plants much closer to the light once sprouted due to stretching. The last pics are ones i took tonight, exactly 7 days since first sprouting from soil. I just moved them about 4" down from the light cause they were starting to touch it.

Just some extra info. As I said I need to get rid of a NL because I only have room for 8 plants. Once rooted I'm gonna transplant them to their final 2 gallon pots and veg them in my 4x2 closet space under a 600w MH, then switch the bulb to HPS for flower when they're about a foot tall.

I want to try different pruning techniques. I plan to LST at least one of each. But I also just want to top a couple and tie the branches down and open, kinda how subcool does.

And as far as nutes go, I was really into the idea of the FoxFarm line, but I've read great things about the new Canna bio stuff, which personally sounds more appealing to me. I was gonna talk to the hydro store about it but if anyone here has info please share!

I'll try to put tons of pics and keep em coming. If you want to know anything more at all please just ask. ANY advice, comments, or questions are greatly appreciated. I've already learned so much here and hopefully it's just the beginning.

I was curious to see their Norther Lights grown. That's another strain I wanna grow.. I'm curious to see the White Rhino too and compare it to my White Widow... You can chek out my White Widow if you want.. I just put it into flowering on Tuesday... the link is in my Sig.

And sorry.. I dont got any info on either types of those nutes.. I always just use the Miracle Grow Nutes.. and Schultz for flowering.. that works fine for me.. But one of my friends is growing with Black Gold Soil.. and he said he LOVES it!! he used to use the Fox Farm Soil, (not sure what kind) but he said the Black Gold stuff is wayyyy better. Soo thats a good thing. lol.

Hey I just checked out your White Widow and it looks really good! Especially the latest pics, can't wait to see it flowered. I can only hope mine look as healthy at that age. I read about Black Gold on here so we'll see. I'd like to compare it to other soils, but i like that your friend picks it over FF. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try Bio Canna so stay tuned if you wanna see how those go.

Thanx man. Yea I'm sure your plant will look great too. I'm no pro.. just had good luck with this plant.. this is only my 3rd grow.. but it is my 1st grow using "good" seeds.. My last 2 grows were all from bagseed from Mids. I've been using Miracle Grow Moisture Control for my last couple grows... but thats only because I cant find any good soil in any stored around me. =-/ I'm deff gonna stay tuned man.

hello everybody! Growth is going slow but steady. more growth = more updates. All 9 plants are doing really well. I haven't watered them since the last pics cause they don't seem to need it plus i have a terrible gnat problem. I think i let it get a little soggy at first; but i see less gnats the dryer the soil gets. I was hoping to rid them with just sticky paper but i might have to move to chems soon . I don't have to pull a NL till they're ready for transplant so when the times comes we'll see which one is losing the race. Temps are right at or below 75f and humidity is around 57% thanks to a humidifier. That's about it for now. I'm expecting to start veg in a week or two. Hopefully they take off soon.

hello again. the plants are starting to take off now! i just moved them under the 600w MH 18/6. i haven't started feeding yet, but i will when my order of BioCanna nutes comes in the mail. I got the vega, the flora, and bio boost. looking back I really wish I would have gotten Cannazym and Rhizotonic but oh well, it's too late now, hopefully next grow.

TEMPS HAVE SOARED TO 93! I completely underestimated how hot the light would be. I really need to get the temperatures down if anyone has any suggestions.

The light is 18" over the top of the plants. I have a fan blowing full time under the light (see pictures) and an oscillating fan on high moving air. I have a cheap little house fan blowing air out a vent hole i made near the ceiling. I also made a 3" hole towards the bottom of the floor going to a different cooler room of the house, but it doesnt seem to be pulling much air. I'm thinking of getting two axial fans and placing one at each hole. How does that sound? Please If you've read this far any comments would be greatly appreciated. I really need to get these temps down. It's not even daytime yet!

oo wow.. yea that is alotta growth man! They'er comin along now.. took a lil while to start up.. but now they're looking great!! like I said I cant wait to see yours flowered too! Mine is startin to show more and more white hairs all over the place.. but no "bud" formation yet. hopefully soon. goin to the store today. gonna look for some more soil.. and bigger pots. Keep up the good work man!!

hello erbody! got tons of growth in just a couple days. The White Rhinos are way bigger than the Northern Lights already. I don't know if it's the light, the plant life, or both but it's great! I've made some tweaks to the air flow and lowered the temps to a little under 90 with with the light on (temps in mid-low 70's during 8 hours with light off). It involves my window open and the outside air, which won't be cool for long so I don't know what I'm gonna do come flowering. I'm thinking of getting 2 80 cfm 4" duct fans from HTGsupply.com and putting one as an intake and one as an outtake. It's just a medium sized closet do you guys think i need more air flow for 8 plants? I was thinking of getting a Portable Evaporative Cooler since i'm in the desert but i've read that they suck big time and don't work. Please any comments would help! I already made 2 3" holes for no reason haha so any help would be great!

I haven't started feeding yet cause I'm waiting for them to get here (UPS says tomorrow). I'm thinking that's why the leaves look weird (pics 5,6). That's about it if you want to know anything just ask, peace.

yeaaaa I think that you should be good for ventilation.. I feel like you dont need too too much air flow.. as long as you got some kind of air movement goin, u should be good. =) Theyre lookin good tho.

When you gonna start flowering them?? Can't wait to see them all full of buds!

and there looks to be a little N deficiency.. but not too much... eventually.. no matter how good your plants are or how healthy they are.. the bottom leaves always end up turning yellow adn dying off.. some of mine are already starting.. thats normal.. especially during flower. just keep up what your doing... adn yea. deff use the nutes when u get them.. u should just start them off around 1/4 strength.. im sure u kno that.. and see how it takes it.. you might even be able to get away with using 1/2 strength \.. since they're already a few weeks old.

hey man thanks for the words, i really appreciate them! I got my nutes in the other day and they looked way better after the first feeding. all the yellowing is gone! I'm planning on flowering them when they're about a foot tall. they're in about 2 gallon buckets (maybe a little more) so I can't let them get much taller than that.

They're vegging great though! i'm gonna post an update soon.

howdy! just transplanted the ladies into their final pots. just those 8 plants were some work i understand why people do hydro haha. i put a heaping half cup of dolomite lime in each pot. i gave the smallest northern light to a friend. i hope it stays alive so we can compare.

I got my BioCanna nutes in on friday and let me tell you, after one feeding i'm already liking this stuff. I put a tad less than 1 tsp into a gallon of water since i was feeding a little late (chart says 1.5 tsp/gallon). next grow feeding will be on time and i'll start with 1/4 strength.

i used regular water to transplant so, next watering i'll probably give them a full dose of bio-vega. the temps are in the low 80's with light on thanks to some cool outside air. they're as happy as can be right now but i'm still worried about temps when the desert heat kicks in.

I'm LST'ing 1 NL and 1 WR. I used a wire coat hanger. I raised the pots to meet the other plants. I'll probably LST them till the others are about 12" tall, cause that's when i want to flower.

I'm not sure exactly but they're 11" tall and 7-9" across. at least 2 gallons. do you think i should flower sooner so they don't get root bound before harvest?

they say you want roughly a gallon per foot of plant. so i probably wouldnt let the plants getting too big unless you feel like transplanting again.

hello there. The girls are doing great, just growing away! I topped them all (except the ones i'm LST'ing) last night. I did it a few different ways just cause it was my first time doing such a thing and i was kinda clueless haha I did some cuts higher than others and I even tried to FIM one so we'll see how that goes. I gave them a big drink with full dose bio-vega last night and they seem to like it. I'm gonna start flowering when they're about 11-12", they're 8" currently.

The LST is going great. I accidentally broke the tip of the WR when i first started and i think it stressed it cause it has the least growth of all the plants. I made the second tie-down a few days ago and ima need another one real soon here.

well that's about it, sorry it took a little while to update, i'll try and post sooner. Any words of any sort appreciated!

the babes are doing great! i gave them a drink of regular h2o today and they perked up beautifully. i'm gonna start flowering in 5 days give or take. I've been using a 600w MH conversion bulb and I'm gonna switch to a 600w HPS. I've read that when switching to flowering, giving them 24 hours of darkness stops the LST'd plants from stretching as much. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

The LST is going amazing. I really think next grow I'm just gonna do 4 plants in 5-7 gallon pots and LST them to hell. I really want to try subcools super-soil as well so that should be fun.
The Northern Lights is LST'ing great with about 4-5 visible tops (and more growing constantly). The White Rhino isn't doing as well. It's much smaller but it's still coming along. The LST Northern Lights tops are almost equal to the other plants!

Hey i wouldnt get rid of the other plant instead i would keep it in a small pot top it and let it grow with ur other plants as it shouldnt take up much space thats what i would do i can only kill males never femailes.
