Oh, I see what you mean now. Is your 6500 k the direction they seem to be reaching for, or does it matter if you turn them around?
Naw, ive been maneuvering them daily and they just never became straight. I tied them to a small stick now
pic = Jane tied to a stick (Mary is tied the same)

What else did you screw up? the only thing ive done wrong so far is overwatering.
Nothing in particular, just a little of everything. Lights too far away, lights too close, no air movement, starter pots were too small... There's so many little things that you just get better at with experience that doesn't necessarily make much sense before it comes up...

I like your idea of adding some low spectrum to increase the stem growth. Seems logical. Anyone had any experience with increasing stem strength this way?

Haha I take it back, I had some shuffling with lights and forgetting to point the fan back at the plants, etc. I bet no matter how good I do this grow, ill do a lot better the next grow. Actually talking about my next grow, what do you guys think of the strain Crystal by Nirvana (White Widow x Northern Lights)?

Yeah im curious too, anyone have any experience with this?

Day 12 (Aug 15th 9.15 am): Went in this morning and was very very happily surprised, Jane is developing 10 new true leaves (only 4 of the new ones were there last night), and Mary is developing 4 new leaves! :weed:.
1=Mary(that white spot on her has been there since the start, what is it? never really got worried cuz that leaf is gonna fall off in not too long anyways) , 2=Jane

I overwatered Mary 3 days ago I think but shes still droopy. anyone got any ideas?

If you know u didn't over-fertilize then it must either be a water or light problem

Did u forget to water in the past resulting in the droopy leafs?

Try the finger test and check the aeration and moisture of the soil. that'd be my guess

I mean I dont use fertilizers yet and the lights are 2 inches of the top of the plant.

newp, never

I dont know about aeration but even the surface of the soil is wet. How do i increase aeration, maybe thats it?

Remember the roots are very important: they need air too!

Increase aeration by simply taking ur hand and lifting a good amt of soil and dropping it..

also: the soil should NOT clump when wet-- it should be moist but easily fall apart allowing the roots to grow strong. good luck!!

shit dude, I moved a bunch of soil around and i also a pressed on the sides of the cup so I felt it get way more aeration.

Thanks a lot man I think I remember once reading about it but I guess I just forgot about it or wasn't paying attention when reading (I read a shit ton about growing back then). such an easy problem to fix too

I really hope Mary starts growing a lot better and gets greener from this :weed:

ya theoretically you could squeeze the sides of the cup on all four sides so that ur plant "pops" up. press down on the surface part of the soil (Only) so that ur roots aren't exposed to sunlight and gets somewhat firm when dry.

also when u water, I'd water on the *sides* of the cup so the roots are forced to look for it. this will also lower the moisture and promote strong roots.

Also remember you CAN drown the roots via over-watering! :) hope that helps

Yeah thats exactly what I did, it worked surprisingly well :-P

Thats what I shoot for normally but im not very careful about it. Ill def start doing that more tho

I don't usually overwater it, I was actually doing really good for a newbie. A friend of mine who has grown a bunch of times told me to water until runoff so I tried it but it was way too much for the plant. That was 4 days ago and its still kinda moist

Thanks alot for the help dude!

I'd not water for a few days if it's that droopy.
It actually feels kinda dry now so im gonna water it tomorrow

oh no you can most definitely water until run off-- it neutralizes the soil and removes salt build up (from fertilizing)

but def not for a seedling! lol Mature veg stage when the roots are very much strong and expanded you can water until runoff.

(got all this from High Times mag)

Topping is a high stress training technique. High stress meaning that it can stun a plant. In some cases when the plant gets stunned hard enough, the plant may change sex to a hermie or a male.

ur soil doesnt look that wet..

The leafs are droopy though.... something isn't right they should be a nice lighter green color and very vigorous looking... Stick your finger as deep as you can in the soil.. see if there is water hanging down there... the soil should be a homogenous mixture.

If you feel it's excessively wet towards the bottom I'd move a bunch of soil around. U said you did that tho right?

should be a speedy recovery with lotsa light 8) hah

Yeah I really think the reason its a bit yellow and has slower growth is that it didn't have enough aeration.

The soil feels a lot better now, at 2 inches deep its a little bit moist. I really think that its gonna look a lot better already tonight

Im wondering if maybe you hit a root when you stuck the little stick in the soil, maybe you stunned it a little. Just a thought.
