First DWC LED auto

Well update

Already bought an extra led light (more decent), and it's hanging already in the tent.
I also lowered al the lights.
So that makes 4leds now already. Maybe i will buy another one for in the middle. Time will tell.
Anyway the plants seem to love the lower height which i changed this morning.

+ I find it hard how to know if they need water or not.
I see the jiffy's always drying out on top but no idea how it is on the bottom afcorse..
And i don't want to get those out to see because roots could get damaged ..
Awesome mate. You can't lift the net cups out to check the roots? You should just have the water level touching the bottom of the cups which will keep the clay moist. No watering should be needed now. Send us a close up pic of them in the totes.
Did your other seeds sprout?

this is the trickiest time with dwc (before the roots hit the water).

if you want to make extra sure they are getting wet enough, scoop out some res water and gently top feed them once or twice a day until the roots hit the water.

Yes i can flip my netcups , did that yesterday but could not see roots underneath.
Maybe my waterlevel is a bit too low also , might check it today to add some more water.
Altough when i lift the cups , i see alot of damped water on the pots. (which is good)
For now i'm indeed waterring them slowly from above 2times/day with water from the reservoir.

They are sleeping now for 2more hours so when they are awake i take a sneakpeek and some pictures.
I'm currently germinating 10other seeds. After 1day already 6 are showing their roots. I'll be letting them grow a bit more until they are 2cm and then put them in the jiffy's.
Also i think i'll be putting them lower into the cups. So they can touch the water more easily and faster. ( since they is a growdistance from 2weeks)

Pots are like this

Just released 2 ones of their seed that was a bit stuck. Hope they develop leaves a bit faster now. Also notice the stem of one , very very small..

Update, already 8/10 came out in my cotton. Holding a temperature around 24-25°C seems to do the trick.
Also just used tap water this time since i know that worked before. ( so no RO for germination )
Now maintingen the cotton things to be a bit around the place were the seed is.
Already saw alot of roots of 2cm , which is surprising as the germination started only 41hrs ago.

So now quick question.
I'll be using jiffy's again as i said.
1. Should i place the seed whole under the ground + darkness untill it pops out the jiffy ?
2. I place the seed itself above the jiffy but the stem inside afcorse + give light already in my tent

Really thinking if i should use my reservoir water for the new sprouts or just use tapwater with higher ph and higher ppm. ( i know that worked before..)

Also i will be using a plate where i just again put all the jiffy's in.
Then i can easy see when i need to water. When seed comes out at the bottom -> time to get them in the real tank.

In the meantime still looking for some extra lights.

i'd run those lights 24/0 until they are done vegging. you'll get less stretch on the seedlings. especially pic 2 you put up.

cannabis is a C3 plant and it does not need a dark cycle in veg.

After 3 days , planted them in the jiffy's. Lot's have already roots of 2-3cm. And some already got rid of the seed ! yeehoow
They are 56cm under the light currently in the tent.
I think my previous fault was also giving to much water. These jiffy's i pinched out before putting them in. They are still a bit moisty but not wet. Think that's better.

So other 2 are still not germinated. I decided to germinate another ayahuasca purple auto + another amnesia purple in my same system for germination.
Then my holes in the boxes are completely filled.
If the 2 decide to come out.. Then those will go in normal earth to see the difference.

Other are showing some growth with the extra light + lowering them.
Still looking for extra lights.
Maybe will buy 2 vipar 300w, any opinions on that?

For that room 2x600w led minimum. If you had 2x1000w you would never need to move them.. looks good bro. Keep posting

Good news, i bought a decent spectrabox led.Has 362w real usage so that will help. Also another one with 100w.
I still will keep an eye out for more good deals to replace all my bad chinese ones without ventilator.

Today i'll post some more pictures of the seedlings.

Also added small bits of rootstim + hydro A&B. ( only 1ml )
Will see how they react and slowely start building it up.

So that yellow one will come at the end where 3boxes are next to each other.
White one is left for 2boxes & my other one is for the right 2 boxes. Hopefully i don't need to use the chinese ones anymore.
Afcorse if needed.. I can.

Good news, 2plants reached the reservoir !! Happy to see this after all the waiting.
Those 2 are looking best of all plants too afcorse.
Altough i see there leaves are a bit doofie, maybe to wet. Anyway i stop watering them manually now so..
Or maybe it's to less nutrients in the water? Anyone with advice on this ?

The one on the left is finally freed from the seed.

The one on the left is also very doofie or whatever i should call it.

I don't know but it seems that the ones i've putted the most above the jiffy are the ones that are growing the best..
Also the one in the right corner is showing signs of death.. The root out the seed is getting smaller and smaller .. Reasons ?
I'm trying to learn out of this and want to get it perfected.

I also will be trying to water the seeds only from the downside now. ( by placing it 5seconds in a good temperature jar of water. And not from above so it can touch the seed. It looks like damping off in an early stage

I really don't understand the germination thing..
Again only 3/7 are doing good ..
Only the ones that germinate decent in my cotton thing grow good.
The other ones are just not doing anything and getting a smaller stem each day.. ( red, purple small stem)

I'm upping the water with root and A +B. But very very slowly.
EC is 270
PH goes between 6-6.5

I installed also my new light today. Seems to cover a big area in the tent.

(the one on the left , you can cleary see on the bottom - small stem )

This was the biggest one.. Its touching the water now but still seems hanging .. Also the leaf on the bottom is turning a bit yellow..

Any hints, tips are appreciated. I have no clue

And they almost al have a purple stem..

Update; ALL dead.
Merry christmass , happy new year.

Anyone knows a good heated propagator ?

What i've learned ;
Bad germination. -> need a good propagator
my res is stinky probably because light leaks. -> bought pythoff
need a better tighting-system for my airpumps because it comes loose
Need a new ph meter -> dropped in the water and won't work anymore.

Seeds are ordered already.
Rockwool is ordered.

I have alot of spare parts so I'll start growing on soil in another tent with my good led light.
8autoflowers on 1x1m
Just to check if that's possible because i need some hope.
So i'll need another good light for my big tent.

Yeah mate that light will be ok for a 1x1.. surprising your Res got that dirty in short amount of time. Keep seedlings warm... Start small don't try go for 15 plants in one go... Try 2 or 4...

So i stopped but letted the plants in it because examinations and not much time.
Anyway i took them out now and wanted to see the roots. Is this rootrot ?

try the normal style of netpots: i think there is a lack of O2 in the ones you use. not letting the hydroton breathe enough.

It looks like this :
https://www.dinafem.org/en/blog/how-use-mycorrhizas-cannabis-growing/
And i found another link with a picture that looks like it. But they say its positive.

For me , the roots seem good to be honest. Strong with is good normally.

I try cutting more holes in the netpots next time.

Maybe its also to much stress from the beginning.
Germination -> jiffys -> hydroton -> water

Next time i'll be skipping the germination part and using directly root riots plugs in a heated propagator until they are 10cm.
Then i put them in the hydroton.

Well while doing i learn afcorse. So i don't am that mad :D

I suggest trying one of these methods. I did the drain to waste it was shit for me especially getting setup for the first time. Also fuck the hydroton, either start your seed inside a humidity dome (no nutes) directly in rock wool split directly in half and then you place your seed about 1-2cm down and then press the other half back on and wrap an elastic band around it to hold it together for germination (usually 2-3 days). The reason I spit the cube is to make it a lot easier to remove the cube when you are ready for water. Once you see roots out the bottom of the first cube stack it on top of another split cube once you see roots out the bottom (5-6") or throw it in a solo cup with some coco (when ready to transplant just lightly wash roots with a mister and dunk them once or twice when you have them cleaned up) with same rules applied and then she's ready to hit the water bed with a neoprene pad to hold it on top of the lid where you make your cut out so it's resting on the lid and the roots are just hanging into the water with a 1-2" air gap to the lid with aeration at a lower PPM and increase as you go, you won't need to change your water for a long time (months and months) if you do it right. I went straight to pure DWC with culture, A big container to house your plants I recommend at least 20-30galons, I run a 100gallon and a 60gallon for two separate beds. You can use either tap water or RO water (tap water if you ain't rich just make sure you take care of the chlorine/chloramine) The black buckets are 5gallons and cost anywhere from 5-10$ each, the more drain connections you have the more chance for failure. I use no water pumps just a 1000gph air pump with manifold for 40$ off amazon. Also the larger the body of water the longer it stays cool, so my water stays at about 66F atm directly on concrete, if you have issues with water temps throw in some frozen milk jugs once every 2-3 days depending you'll know when you test what you will need. Keep your nutrients simple and try not to use nutes that will dye your roots, this will make diagnosing root issues MUCH easier for you. That's about it, you do this and feed it about 1/10 of some brewed worm tea (there's a pinned post from Heisenberg on a recipe to brew) every 3 days to keep microbes alive with some nute top offs when necessary otherwise just plain water topped back to your fill line. Good luck buddy, hope your grow turns out to be beautiful! P.S stick with it and don't give up! It's so worth it in the end for the growth difference.
