Day 8:

the tip of the leaf in the most front got slightly burnt.

I still havent changed growing containers, and I know I should, but I really cant find anything around here that would suit it..

the plant is starting to form the 2 leafs it forms to the side of the second set though, theyre coming along nicely.

I also made sort of a new grow box, the front and back are open, the top is adjustable, put it as far down as you want, and the inside is all coated with several layers of white printer paper. I also made a cardboard thing to put over the front which cuts down on fan ventilation [good thing because the fans making to room too cold] and I put down some tin perfectly flat dull side facing up on it, to add to the reflectivity.

this definitly works better than it growing under an entire desk.

Its soo ghetto rigged, I cut up cardboard and duck taped it together to make a box :joint::joint::joint::joint::joint::joint:

a lot chaned since yesterday the 2nd set of leafs started steming off, and 4 more leafs started and grew considerably, ontop of that more leafs started gorwing in the center.

i added a 3rd 27 watt cfl because i bought 2 y splitters today. I also got some gold shiny reflective paper stuff at dollar general the other side is silver and very reflective, just like mylar, I put some of that on the ceiling of the grow box, it is now very very bright. I also mixed some more vinegar and baking soda.

the plant seems to be getting healthier and growing faster now; though it still needs a bigger pot -_-/

after an extremely unsuccessful transfer, the plant is now in its new pot/ bucket; it's is about 1 gallon. I started out washing the bucket, then poked holes, filled it with soil so that the plant "clod" would fit and be at the top.

well stupid me thought it would be easy to look up how to transfer as soon as I needed too; wrong. I searched the forums for 10 minutes and couldnt find it ANYWHERE. the search feature was utterly useless. No time to post a topic either. the only information I could find is water the plant before the transfer. So I did that.

then I tried many methods of getting it out of the 2 liter, but it wouldnt budge. I tried setting it on the side and pounding the back, nothing, everything I tried just knocked soil off from around the plant and onto the desk, and then onto the carpet -_-.

Eventually I used a dull knife on the side without a blade to go around the sides, going through roots im sure. then I tried the above method. Nothing; just more soil onto the floor!

Eventually after an hour - yes an hour, I just scooped to the bottom going though some roots, and scooped the plant out [ripping all the roots that were at the bottom where the drainholes were at; there was no avoiding it; they just wouldnt budge, I had to pry them out after the rest of the plant was removed. the plant was then put in the new bucket and filled with soil around it and watered.

then an even funner part, trying to set up 2 lights over it. I had to ghetto rig it so badly. See the lights are on a pole, the pole from the glass lamp they were in, so I had to duct tape it to the top of a 2 liter, and then lay several objects behind it leading to the solid wall; so it would stay upright.

the plant is now under its old conditions; I am hoping it survives, but I have doubts, the bottom roots took a beating.

well, I guess now its time to get the vacuum to clean up this mess.

I am very disappointed -_-... and its very lucky I didnt punch another hole in the wall I was so mad.

well the plant is still growing, and hasnt shown any sign of being hurt, so I guess its all good ^_^.

I am also going to plant 2 more seeds tommorrow in seperate cups. I will flower them at the same time as this one.

I have 2 pictures, both from diffrent angles. I am also working on a new grow box that should last me for all my grows for awhile, the inside is almost completely covered with mylar - type thing, and it will make the lights easy to position. Right now I can only put 2 out of 4 cfls over the plant.

plant looks good to me, looks better than most of my seedlings anyway..except for the brown tips..possibky from cfls being too close..how many lights U got and what was the wattages?

2 26 watt cfls, I have another as well, and I have a 1800 lumen soft white [its all I could find at home depot when I needed another light for the y sockets].

both in use have coke can reflectors; and when I use the other 2 [when im done making the final grow box today], I am gonna make reflectors for the other 2 cfls.

this will be the lighting probably throughout the whole grow. I was thinking about adding y sockets to the y socket, so theres 4 sockets... they said 660 watt max, and the lamps are about 100 watt... so couldnt I use 3 26 watt cfls in it and another one a bit less?

but anyways yes one leaf got burned from getting too close already, I do keep the lights about an inch away maybe a bit more.

yup man the y socket idea should work. But to be really sure monitor the cables and y sockets for a day. And if u notice and hot spots of the cable that fell really hot u sgud disconnect or if u smell burning.

.
using 2 y adaptors should only give you 3 sockets, not 4.. one y socket = 2, then u have to use one of the sockets for the other y adapter, leaving 3 for lights?? unless u used 3 y adapters, but whats the point of that?

i would only use 1 y adapter per socket.. that way u dont have to worry about overloading the socket.. ive also noticed that with the y adapters, the lights seem to get hotter.. so id be worried about using more than one per socket.. JMO

^ you didnt follow my sentence word for word, I said put y-sockets in a y-socket. 2 sockets in 1. the point is I would then have 4 cfls instead of 2, much more light. I am never going to get another fixture, the only ones I can find in stores are $20 for a single fixture. So if I was able to get 4 lights into one, out of 3 y-sockets that only cost $2.40 a piece, thatd be great.

but yeah, it would be something to worry about if I did do it. I think I have enough light for now though anyways.

Also. I finished the new grow box and planted 4 new seeds. 2 in a 32 oz cup I think, and 1 in 2 red 18 oz cups. I will let these grow for a few weeks and flower the main and whatever comes, of what sprouts at the same time.

I agree.
I have 3x 42w cfl's and I need to switch to the 26 cool.
I was going to get 3-4 more splitters so I can have 6-8 in 2 sockets. I think should be ok since hooked into surge protector.
I seen on the Y socket 600w use max.
I was thinking a aluminum pie dish for the reflector on each socket.

20$ a fixture?? haha..dude.. you have more options than u think..
i also like to do things the less expensive way.. i have many sockets.. you have a couple options..
first, you can buy a socket that has prongs at the back that can simply be plugged into an extension cord.. the socket that plugs into the extension cord is about $2.60 (i found this at a hardware store), and the extension cord is $1 at the dollar store..
if you cannot find one of these, buy a lamp socket (about $3 at walmart) and do some very simple wiring, possibly with the wires from the $1 extension cord..
very easy, very simple, very cheap, more safe than connecting y-adapter to y-adapter and will also allow you to more easily position the lights!!!

YEah I have found at Lowes they have the y spliter for .57 and the socket for 2.75
I think the 26 watt cfl's are like 10.00 for 6-8, can't remem.

Wow, I went to home depot no one knew where anything was, I looked everywhere and finally found y-splitters. I saw no plug in sockets though, that could work... except getting cords for each one is a problem. I already have to hide a cord leading to my closet from an outlet in my room. No way I could get an extension cord. Right now I just have a small utility cord type thing with 3 double prong plug ins, all used up.

I got my 26 watt cfls in a pack 3 for $13. the 18 watt light I got at home depot because I was desperate was $7 what a rip off.

But the y connector thing would actually be perfect for positioning, there would be 4 cfls in 4 corners all angling at the center of the plant with coke can reflectors. Right now I have 2 doing that, working great. The socket is on a rod because thats how it was made so I made a hole in the top of the box to raise and lower the rod. My setups so ghetto in a closet sooo messy and narrow, this is the only possible way...

I mean I can barely even get the plant out to water it... huge hassle, takes about 30 minutes to take a small bucket out water the thing, then set everything up again.

but I am going to flower so early the plant will probably need no more than what its got.

Dang really? I should have looked there for that stuff. Does walmart have any thermometers or guages for moisture / humidity and such?

Day 12:
https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-pics/index.php?n=4623

[side note: 1 of 4 seeds sprouted in the other cups today, they were planted about 2 days ago, the others should be tommorrow and the next day, these seeds are also from better bud. What I'm currently growing im not sure what kind it is, I mixed seeds while germinating... but they were all bagseeds.]

Well I didnt' see any moisture gauges whatever they are meter. But i saw some digital thernometer that ran higher than30 bucks

In the gardening section i saw moisture meters for 5 bucks and they got alot of cfl's.

Alright cool. I dont think I really need a thermometer, it should be warm enough and I know its not too warm. I will look for a moisture meter and maybe some more cfls if I find any cheap fixtures or anything I can use them in there.

Day 13:
https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-pics/index.php?n=4636

today I finally got everything fully set up, moved everything together, basically my closet is fully packed to the brim to make room for the box and lights and moveing around and stuff. Took literally 12 hours cumulative to do this :-|... but its done.

All the seeds in the cup sprouted as well. I set up the new lights. 1 is under a 1200 lumen cfl and the other 2 are under a 1650 with a coke can reflector, and the main grow is under 2 1650s with reflectors. the new ones arent meant to grow very big, I will flower them with the main in a week maybe 2.

I only hope the main goes female .

You should check out Menards for CFL's, i got a 65 watt and 11 inch reflector for 25 dollars. Each CFL puts out 3900 lumens.
