What peps. Just Stoppin by to give an update. Heather buds are comming along. They are little small from her growth being stunted due to me overwater & over nuteing her (What can I say i'm an over careing parent:mrgreen:). The FruityX plant is doing nicely, she is even starting to emit a skunky/fruity smell. I had to tie her down because she was getting to tall.

Well I finally done it I ordered a 150 watt hps grow light:hump:. Bye Bye CFLs. I should get the grow light in a few days I can't wait.

Here some bud pics.:peace:

LOL yh hps is alot better for flowering as it has 55,000 lumen intentisty...++++
Like a 30w clf has 2000 Lumen intensity (so it cant penetrate the bud deep enough thats why you get reli small buds)
125w Envirolite cfl 12000 Lumen intensity (Envirolites can penetrate bud ok still not great but still with more light it will)
a 400w hps has around 55000 Lumen intensity (hps will penetrate bud great up to 10 ft away)

What up all. Just got my 150 watt hps in the mail:hump:. Got it all set up and ready to go and the cabinet is looking a whole lot less crowded. I was wondering if anyone knows what would be the most ideal height to keep the light fover the plants? Or how many plants a 150 watt hps can support? I know she puts out 16,000 lumens but I'm not sure if that relates to lumens per square foot.

Heather has been flowering for 50 days I'm going to give her another 20 days. Her buds are getting huge and crystaly but I wish she was a little bit bigger. I know she can produce much more buds if grown properly. Next grow i'll be ready:twisted:.

The FruityX plant is doing nicely. She has been flowering for 30 days. she is kinda like my experment plant and gets neglected often.

Well her are some pics of my babies and the new grow light. :peace::blsmoke:

What up my peps:mrgreen: Just smoked a bowl and figured i'll do one of my favorite things when i'm bored and high... Update my journal:hump:. Heather, my PPP Plant, is doing ok, her buds are getting really fat since i put the HPS light in i had to tie up her outer branches because the buds where weighing her down:mrgreen:. I don't know if this has to due to the hps light are just the fact that she has matured more:confused:. I was wondering whens the best time to harvest a PPP Plant?... I've read in other peoples journals that it can some times take up to 12 weeks for it to mature! If anybody can let me know any tell tale signs that the plant is ready for harvest that would be great!!! Heather has been flowering for 58 Days now. I taking her off of her nutes today... I'm hopeing she will be ready by day 70.

My FruityX plant is doing not so bad (shes been kinda neglected). A lot of her fan leaves have dried out due to... I'm guessing MG Def, I corrected that problem i hope. I haven't been giving her much nutes but her bud development is coming along well and man is she starting to stink like fruit juice and skunk can't wait to see how she smokes:blsmoke:. She has been flowering for 40 days.

Here are some pics:peace:

Nice job bro! I just found your thread. I can't wait to see hoe the 150w hps turn out for your next grow. How much more heat does it generate compared to the cfls? By the way, 16000 lumens is about the optimum for a 2'x2' space. minimum for marijuana growth is about 2000 lumens per sq. ft. you would bet about 4000 per sq. ft. if you were in a 4sq. ft. area. So you can grow how ever many plants you can fit in 4 sq. ft. lol And I've seen some guy on here that got a nice bud from a solo cup plant. it was like 18 inches tall and mostly vertical growth. you could throw like 25 cups in a 2x2 and get 25 sweet buds if femmed seeds. lol gl

Thanks for watching man! I found the heat generated for the 150w hps to be generaly the same as having 6 42 watts cfls, the temp never goes past 90. If you have started growing yet I would say skip the cfls, There are too much of an hassel.

Thanks for the info on the light, Was thinking of starting a mother plant and flowering her clones in cups like you said but i'm gonna save that for a after a few more grows... I can just picture it 25 18" buds:twisted:

Hey Shonuff,

About those reflectors you made: I just saw this video on youtube, and the guy made very similar ones. The only difference seems to be he "roughed up" the surface of the can and made a "V" shape down the middle. The video says this increases reflectivity. Any thoughts on this?

It scatters reflectivity. it makes it look more reflective because you dont have to be looking at it at the right angle to see the light because those micro grooves scatter the light to every direction your looking from. It's a false sense of higher reflectivity. Just like if you take tin foil for example and crumble it all up really well and straighten it out, it seems a bit more reflective. The best bet would be to make a reflector from cardboard and paint it white or tin foil it.

Whats up fellas. I was looking at the trics on My ppp plant and the top cola seems to be finished, all the trics are milky white with some turning amber. I was wondering if it would be ok to chop off the top cola first and alow the lower buds to get more light and mature more? If any one got an opinion of some info on this matter please share.

Well seeing as i couldn't find that much information on the matter... I decided take one for the team and I chopped off the main cola yesterday:twisted:. The way i see it one of three things can happen because of this:

1. The lower buds get bigger because of the increased light and lest energy is spent on the main cola.

2. The lower buds don't grow at all and growth is stunted but the buds continue to mature.

3. The plant will start to die.

If 2 or 3 happens I'll just harvest before it gets too bad. If 1 happens then HELL YA. Either way at least you people get to see what happens!

When i chopped the main cola it weighed 28.4 grams, Today itweighs 18.9. Lost 10 Grams over Night! Damn I hope thats all it loses. So far the plant heather looks good for not having a main cola.

sounds good to me, what colour are the trichs on the lower buds? still clear or milky?
The lower buds are about 50% milky and 50% clear. I want them to be all milky with some turning amber.

PICS! :peace:

I remember looking at some thread last night where a guy cut his main cola off and let the rest mature and it worked out great. He had a great grow so I'm sure its fine for the plant so 1 is most likely going to be the case. are you going to flush before you harvest the rest?

Your right the lower buds have started to fatten up:mrgreen:. I started flushing her a few days before her main cola was cut. But I've read that it's not nessacery to flush if useing organic nutes which Iam (fish fert and bat guano), but i'm flushing anyway.

waddup shonuff, my bad for not being able to help with the first part of the grow, but i aint forgot about ya I just got a lot of shit going on..ya dig

Uve done a decent job so far, and you got some bud this round too so thats incredible! nice job. but I gotta say a few things.

miracle gro is great to grow in, but next time try to find some perlite to mix with it. they sell it at walmart for $5 a bag, and it'll help make sure U dont over-water ur plants.

and also MG has the time-release oscomote balls which release after about 30 waterings. so U could be down to the last 3 weeks of flowering when the Miracle gro nutes finally decide to release themselves. so its ALWAYS neccessary to flush when ur using miracle gro potting mix.

oh and U gotta pay attention to ur plants.

the red/purple stems, brown leaf tips, brown spots, and droopy leaves mean U have a deficiency - mainly potassium and phosphorous which are responsible for strong stems and big bud production.

each one of those deficiencies cost you a lot of potential bud. so thats one reason u didnt reach ur 3oz goal. that and the lighting which u've already corrected.

I understand what u were tying to do with the organic bat shit and fish guts, but real talk, lets not half step.
It would be best to get a one part veg formula, a one part bloom formula, and one part micro nute formula. its very hard to underfeed since cannabis is a plant that can thrive off of very little nutrients!

I stick to feeding my plants 1/4 strength nutrients thru-out the entire grow. I feed them nutes once per week during veg, and maybe twice per week in flowering and I feed the plants plain tap water between each feeding.
if I start seeing signs of deficiencies, Id wait a day or 2 after the first feeding, then feed them another 1/4 strength feeding, and if they need more, Id wait another 2 days and give them another 1/4 strength feeding etc...
that way its really hard to overfeed, but in case I do its extremely easy to flush.

speaking of flushing..when I stick to ^^that feeding schedule^^,
flushing isnt neccessary no matter if Im using chemical nutes or organic nutes. during the last 2 weeks of flowering my plants are only fed a couple drops of molasses, and a Ripening formula in tap water. all nutes are cut off so there is no need to flush before flowering.

like I said Cannabis can thrive off of very little nutes and attention! thats why most of the time its the one U neglect that always does better than all of the rest! but when U do pay attention to ur plants, pay attention to every detail, from the browning leaf tips to the yellowing leaves at the bottom.

good luck on the rest of ur journey, ill be watching
:peace:
