wow
I use them frequently, and was genuinely curious. Mainly use them for finding a true line or whatever on a boat for new bunks, interior parts etc.
Alot of boat owners add things that throw off the trim, and a plumb bob is an easy way to establish a base point for adding ballast or whatever else.
Do you use them for leveling the light?
Distance from the lights,
Or do you just like how they look?

You are not welcome in my grow journal. Leave or you will be reported.

Thx man,

Ironic that the company that made the flimsy fuckers just put the qb maker out of qb business.

If you want emerson bd strips like this, another co makes similar ones, i’ll post name later.

No smell yet...

With all that’s going on in there, they may be done at 10, but really are 11-12+ weekers, according to breeders.

Hopefully i dont fuck them up.

Btw, i posted your article link on far red thread today. Forgot to give you credit. Will do so later, on tractor all day.

I've been looking at those, as well as the diy module. Not sure which way I want to go. Growmau5 loves his fans and heatsinks, I like passive but the "Ohh SHINY" factor is definitely there on the fancy modules. No rush, still have a couple lights I've yet to assemble as it is....., Oh shit, just realized I may have a slight led addiction. Nahhhhhhhhh.

Growmau puck, if that is what you were referring to, is a far red initiator, these are emerson bds. My far red initiator, by growbright, is the bar hanging between the two qb fixtures.

I’m a light addict too..,if you couldn’t tell. Not ready to detox yet, tho...

Awesome work, bro! They all look super healthy but I'm a bit surprised because of the diesels. I once had the NYC diesel from Soma and she behaves much more like a haze. I would have expected the same behavior from the diesels.
The start with 13,5/10,5 was a bit too early. With such a stretchy strain I would start with 12/12 and use 13,5/10,5 from the 3rd or 4th week when preflowers from the first small nugs in each node and stretch is almost done.
I did it exactly the same way and started with 13.5h and had exactly the same delay. When used with 12/12 I get preflowers within 3 to 8 days. Cuttings are usually a bit faster like seed based plants but thats because of their genetic age(the mother of a 14 day old cutting could be 1 year old).
Your test also shows that pure sativas tolerate a bit less light and that one should not apply the laboratory conditions from Chandra in an closed indoor environment. Even with CO² and optimal conditions 1500μMol/s/m² would burn them their little asses off.
All in all a pretty good and well documented thread. It's simply a pleasure to see how its going on..

Thankyou man!

I agree with you.

I expected the nyc diesels to be as tall (which these aren’t) and more bushy (like these are) than the super silver hazes. All plants are from seeds. So there is a chance that i’d gotten an indica-like nyc diesel pheno, but two of them makes that less likely the cause. Since hazes turned out much closer to what i expected for manifolded plants under these conditions, it rules out conditions or manifold causing diesels to be the way they are. My conclusion is that these are not diesels at all. The seeds came from Southern Oregon Seeds, clearly marked as their own version of nyc diesel (the hazes also came from SOS, but were bred by Greenhouse Seeds). SOS’ version is obviously somethingelse-indica-like. Making lemonade from these lemons, i have a good test of these conditions for both indica-like and sativa-like strains. Whatever they are, if i don’t fuck them up they are gonna have beautiful colas.

I intentionally held off on the emerson boards until stretch appeared “over” and pistil balls had formed at the tips of mains laterals (at about usual wk 3 timeframe that 8 week plants tend to “end” stretch - these strains are much longer flowering period).

My thinking, was that the far red initiator at lightsoff would speed up changeover to flowering. Given the expected 11-12 week flowering period of these strains, and the fact that the indica-like plants hardly stretched at all, i could have been correct in expecting faster flower switch over. But, looking at much longer internode length of parts of hazes that developed in weeks 1-3, especially at same or higher light intensity than later, the far red likely also conttibuted to stretch. The whole setup is new,?and there were several problems during week 1 that i believe delayed normal week 1 transition, this also contributed to the abnormal stretch.

At end of week three i switched lightson:lightsoff to 12:12, and almost immediate sawvmajor increase in growth (emerson boards also started then). Given that ppfd was, by then, backed down to ~1000, the growth spurt came from either or both the emerson boards and the longer night length. I think both contributed, because emerson effect is a documented reality in other plants, and there is grower evidence that the longer the lightsoff petiod in combo with lightsoff far red also has this effect.

The indica-like plants do tolerate a somewhat higher dli than the hazes. However, nowhere near the 65 dli implied by chandra’s work. I strongly believe that chandra’s results, while they may be replicable (for 30 minute exposure) do not directly apply to plant leaves under at least 12-hr exposure to extreme light intensity near 1500 ppfd, no matter how “optimal” the other conditions.

Your comments are particularly appreciated, given your obvious expertise snd helpful comments all over riu. Someday i hope that the laws change, so that we all can appreciate pictures of what must be the beautiful plants that you grow.

Hopefully the next two months (maybe less with the far red and emerson effects), goes well.

Day 29 of ?84?: Pistil balls getting visibly larger each day. ~1000 ppfd at tallest haze tip, ~1200 on “diesels”. All other controlled variables in range.

Added 2 additional airstones (4 now) to back right haze, based on observations in a diff thread, made by @tbone shuffle on GC. Seeing if extra air makes a noticeable difference.

Outstanding OG....! overdrive on now, the enviro looks just optimum. If you dont mind asking...are you liking the techna nutes? addding any goodies/benes/teas?
I like them ok, haven’t had any probs. Not adding anything outside of “recipe for success”. I started growing dwc with these, it aint broke, so i dont need to fix.

My philosophy is nutes are nutes, they are at the bottom of my list of variables to deal with. I know that lots of growers feel diff, and swear by their personal bud boosters. That’s fine, but not me.

Now maybe it’s a diff situation in diff grow media, but for dwc, seems to me proper basic npk and micronutes, pH (which also affects diff nutes’ availability) and ec are sufficient, when the more important variables like light, temp, humidity, training, defol, etc are under proper control.

As a commercial grower of a diff crop, this is how i grow, and my crop sells in highest price/quality tier.
