Day 77: Harvest begins. Front, right haze (2nd smallest of the 4 plants) may have had a heart attack & stroke on one side, wilting down the four mains on one side of the manifold. Decided to use the space for ripening the huge back haze, so chopped the dehydrating side of the front one & pulled/tied the adjacent mains in cut side’s space. Harvested trichs are clouding but not milky, no amber; smokes well w clear, slightly speedy buzz, and its a creeper.

Looking great. I don't see much fall off in bud size as it goes down the plant.

I think this one shows that open center, high intensity light (1000ppfd on tops), targeted red spectrum (red-deep red plus a healthy dollop of far red), and big pipes can give 8 mains w 18-24” of solid 1-2+ inch diam buddage plus 1-4 good laterals, on plants no taller than 36”.

I'd say that's a good conclusion. I just finished my other cookie sheet lights, debating on whether to put them in the 4x4 now or do that on the next run. Frost in the side flower closet under just 1 is early and intense so I am very excite. I'll post some pics soon.
Just want to add a thank you for the documentation and sharing. Rept desert bulbs are going to be increased as well as a light reorganization with a plan.

All those mains and tops look realy good already. The haze ladies still swell up, especially the one in the back. Probably a slightly different pheno or do you think its because of the defol?
I can only hope my SSH will look similar when finished. Up to 32-36" height I can handle without issues ..
She and the other 4 will go under the rebuild fixture this weekend and I can only hope the 2 Agromax bulbs are not too strong for my lil' area. I also bought 2 Arcadias as precaution just in case the spreaders did not help.
Would be a pity if I can not use them .. import and custom fees was not cheap.
I need/want them on the same height with the LED's. My fixture has too much surface area to use the bulbs mounted above and probably only a 10th would find the way down to the plants. Pretty uneven too.

Hmm! These Agromax SPD is to say the least, shit!

One can only guess whether these tubes already deliver a certain amount of UVC light (<275nm) or not. 285nm is needed for the UVR8 receptor, 275nm or less would be an explanation for the significant stress.
A 2ft bulb in a 4x 4' area should not hurt the plants and if its needed to use them 30" above the plants there must be something wrong.
I know, the flowerpower bulbs can be used at 1-2ft distance and the same should be possible with these Agromax's..
Their SPD clealy shows "no UVC".

Is your spectrometer handheld able to display the Agromax spectrum in a more detailed way? I would be interesting to compare the spectrum with these FP bulbs.
There must be a problem somewhere if you just can not use it as intended in 1-2ft distance.

That front ssh is near perfect size & productivity for most small space growers. The larger one in back, is probably the more common pheno, tho.

Using manifold certainly helped with final heights on both.

Front one had extreme defol, back one didn’t (didn’t need it); without pm concerns, i probably would not have been as extreme on front one.

The bud structure is totally different on both: front one is more typical indica-like single cola/main structure, the back one is like smaller, solid grenade-like colas/buds spread out over each main.

I’ll try to get spectra pics of the diff tubes.

The 4ft agro max w reflector ruined 2-3 cola tops on bigger, back ”diesel”. No damage like that on any of the other plants, tho , up close, you can see some slighter damage. There is really no difference in light height/positioning/intensity between plants, so my conclusion is that strain effect can be significant, and more intense reflector light was too close/needed some dimming. I don’t have timers that can run shorter on/off intervals than 15 mins, being able to expose for shorter intervals probably would have helped.

I hope to do this again from veg, and see if there is damage when finally switch to stronger agromax fixture in flowering.

Uv certainly has bigger damage potential and tighter intensity/exposure tolerances than any othe wavelength “color” group. Quantifying tolerable intensity/exposure is key to using uv appropriately, more so than other spectrum ranges.

I harvested & trimmed the other half (4 mains) on the front haze today. Here is the evidence....
