If it's Friday, it means another week has gone by......8 weeks finished in flowering (after 4 weeks veg), 2 weeks to go. I'm writing this late at night, I'll put up a pic or two in the morning at 1st HP light.

With 2 weeks to go, I change a few things around with 10-12 days left:

1. Lights will be changed to 11 on, 13 off to help finish them off.
2. No more Cal/Mag......to much hinders resin production towards the end. Expect some tacoing, it's fine near the end and common.
3. One or two more watering's with about 500 ppm, 6.3-6.5 pH- then plain water with some molasses (provides some micro's).
4. I'll leave the fans and exhaust on 24/7 to keep humidity low and reduce the chance of mold.
5. I'll reduce watering, letting things dry out a bit more than normal. This helps with resin production. And keeps humidity lower.

Two more things- 1) the smell........LOL, LOL. Everything that leaves the house smells, with that dank, pungent, over-powering kush stink. Our coats and jackets, the cardboard trash heading to the dump, my wife's lunch bag and briefcase, Xmas gifts, luggage, everything. A Febreze bottle sits at every door. 2) The buds have really added on some girth this week. Some plants have exhibited a slight lean as the weight builds. I'm pretty confident I'll get to my 2 lbs. per light.

I remain unsure that everything will be finished to my liking in 2 weeks. Some days I say to myself after being in the room- yup, no problem. Other days I say no possible way. I like to let my stuff get pretty well done, but it will all come down to trichome color and overall health of the room. I will add Ethos has been pretty much on the mark regarding finishing times listed on the strains I've done.

Read the entire thread, everything is answered above or in my last Ethos Zsweet Inzanity grow, also posted on RIU.

But, for ease:
1. I have a 10 inch exhaust system hooked up to a powerful exhaust fan, being run thru a Big Blue ozone device to outside. For Inside circulation, I have a large floor fan.
2. I only use reverse osmosis water, as my well water is of very poor quality. I fertilize every watering, every 2-3 days. The ppm of the plain water going in is less than 30 ppm. I slowly have been raising the ppm and will top out around 1000 ppm in flowering. I have never, in 30+ years of growing had to check the runoff pH. I can read what a plant needs or doesn’t just by looking at them.
3. The room has two 1000 watt high pressure sodium bulbs. I use the same bulbs for the entire grow, switching them out after 2 complete grows.

My only other comments are I think carbon filters suck, not worth the money at any price. I use iPower bulbs, cheap and good quality. I also use iPower ballasts. I use Botanicare fertilizer, G.H. PH up and down, Flying Skull Z7 enzymes, many different manufacturers Cal/Mag. The odor device is to control the outside the house smell and only works so-so to control the inside issues. Nothing I’ve ever tried can completely control the inside smell, as I leave the room door ajar because of heat buildup when closed.
You need to buy a can fan filter your opinion may change. I think ozone sucks ime

I've had so many of those filters, it's ridiculous. Big ones, small ones, large floor ones so heavy I needed 3 people to move it. My issues are/were: 1) not very effective when the humidity is up, 2) have to change them quarterly, or more often to remain somewhat effective, 3) the larger ones can be pricey, especially to ship in and 4) the replacement charcoal generally is cheap crap and it's difficult to re-pack it tight enough.

My over-kill Big Blue ionizer is more effective, take it from me. When you grow really stinky strains, there isn't anything on earth that will do the job properly, unless you run multiple high end filters and fans which gets really expensive. After this many years of growing, I don't even notice the stink anymore and when i do, it's like a fine wine to me. It's everyone else that has a problem. LOL

I'll add in the key with the ionizers that use bulbs is to clean the bulbs regularly, as often as monthly. They develop a white film on them, and this needs to be wiped off or the bulbs loose their effectiveness.

Yea I have this issue where I think the new strains I’m running don’t smell as much as I think they should then someone shows up and is like holy f dude I can smell your house a mile away. My herb smell tolerance is through the roof lol

Regarding the picture above, what you're are seeing are the tall plants in the room. There's even more shorter plants hidden in the back 2 rows- but with nice sized cola's packed in. Weight is no doubt going to be top notch..............

I also figured something else out......during the day with the lights on- I don't think a lot of the plants will finish in 2 weeks time. At night, just as lights go out- I go in with a high power flash light and the resin just pops off the plants and i say no problem, they'll finish........

A bud shot towards the back of the room.......a bit out of focus as it was tough to reach in there. Stinky and sticky, two words that always belong together. This is probably the 60 day pheno, but it's going to 70 days whether it likes it or not.

Great looking grows sir. I've checked out a couple of yours. You really know what you're doing. I'm still a newer grower and learning everyday. I'm interested in quite a few of Ethos strains. They are all so attractive lol. Anyways you seem to have a bunch of experience with them. What strain would you advice me to try and invest in. I'm growing in a 4x8x6.5 tent with two 630w cmh lights. What would you think is a good strain by ethos that would fit my space while giving great quality and good quantity? Any advice is appreciated.

Happy to advise.........if I have it straight, your tent is 8 ft. tall, allowing for the lights and space between the plants and the lights (so no heat/burn issues)- you probably have less than 6 ft. total, closer to 5 or so, Ethos may not be your best choice. Most, if not all, the things I done from them tend to stretch quite a bit. Depending on what you're looking for- indica or sativa- I may be able to direct you a bit better. Message me so we don't clog up the thread and I'll respond.

Sorry I'm still new to this site. Can't seem to figure how to start a private message... Do I need the app for that?

(I was able to "start a conversation" from the start.) Make sure you're logged in. Click on the persons name, that opens their "profile page" then you can start a conversation. I've edited this as I was clicking my own avatar and never got the option. D'OH!

Doing some thinking about the room odor tonight......I've been spending a bit more time than normal in the room as it gets closer. 12 days to go. The parents are Chemdog X OG Kush. Chemdog is known for it's "diesel, gassy smell- pungent and sharp. OG Kush is a bit mellower, with some pine, lemon and woodsy odors. I have noticed the pine, especially when I'm moving/touching leaves but the diesel stink is just over-powering everything. I keep hyping on about it.......and for good reason. Be extra prepared if you do this one.

Well, here's the 60 day pheno and tomorrow is 60 days flowering. It appears the shorter pheno's will be done 60-63 days and the taller pheno will take another 10 days, maybe 15. We'll see.......I reached the phone far back to get this pic. Do yourself a favor and click on the picture for a closeup.

Thanks......in the home stretch now, figuring I'll start chopping next Thurs for the earlier stuff and Fri/Sat for the rest.

And I'll start up Ethos "Apex" by the following week too- no rest for the weary.

On a bit earlier than normal, Thurs night instead of my normal Friday. I'm busy tomorrow and will gone for most of the day. 9 weeks completed, 1 week to go.

So, the last few days a lean was detected, back 2 rows, left side. I've been mulling it over whether to remove some plants and get back there and get everything straightened out. I've been hesitating, so close to finish, to deal with it. This morning, everything back there was either down or leaning against other plants but up to the side wall. Ugh.......miserable day. I think since I was letting them dry out more than normal, they couldn't stay rigid enough due to lack of water.

Friggin kushes, they just can't handle the weight on their side branches. Never did one kush strain that could. At one point I had 4 plants laying on top of each other- I couldn't tell what belong to what. A real disaster, trying to do it all yourself. The wife was here, but working, and she hates to go in the room, let alone help. Click the image for full size version.

It took around 2 hours total........and I'm very happy it's done. It will only improve the light distribution onto the plants and I got to look things over, clean up some, etc. Some looks just about done, and still not sure everything will be done by next Friday. I already set up another room, just in case I need it.

I was so sticky in the end, my hands were black. I was sticky from my hands up my arms, my face, my shirt= there's plenty of resin, that's for sure. Weight is still good, but I did see a few plants with very few buds on them. One plant was a monster, has to be 5-6 oz. Not long now....

Chopping everything Friday hopefully and into Saturday- Friday is 70 days. This will probably be my last post until every thing is finished and hanging.

I looked tonight with a magnifying device, checking trichome coloring. There is some variance in doneness in the plants, that's to be expected I guess. With 4 more days to go, I'm seeing maybe 5% amber, 85% cloudy and 10% clear. The coloring will continue to ripen. Taking an average in the room, I'm guessing that 70 days will be about right. I'm seeing at least 1-2 plants that could probably use another week. I'll decide game day. I let the pistils help me decide, as much as the trichomes. I don't want to see pistils anywhere except the very top of the plants, if that.

No fertilizer, just fresh water for at least a week. Lights still at 11 hrs. on, 13 hrs. off. Fans and exhaust running at low speed at night. I am letting the plants totally dry out before watering. I've been slowly removing the large sun leaves here and there. I have resisted drying and smoking anything so far, but i definitely will shortly to make sure i don't want to wait longer. It's still possible it could happen.

Smell remains off the hook, yield looks great.........lots of branches, this is a solid 16 hours of trimming. If I smoke it, I'll let you know the results. Otherwise, back on Sat or Sun with a pic or two.

Have you been doing 11/13 the whole time? I heard that on The Potcast from Mass Medical that DJ Short recommends 11/13 in flowering because those are the flowering times where sativas come from (I understand there is a lot of controversy surrounding that). Apparently it gives them a more sativa effect

No......just the last 2 weeks. I agree with DJ, especially with sativa’s- it helps finish them off and ripen just a bit faster.

An update: this afternoon I dehydrated a bud, took about 2 1/2 hours total to get it dry enough. Did 2 bongs hits, then stuffed the rest in my Volcano Vape and finished off a bag. My general impression is it’s not ready and still won’t be by Friday. The buzz was extremely long lasting, but was not defined real well as it should be. It needs more time. Friday is 70 days, if I go 1 more week from today, that puts me til Monday, day 73. It will take 2 days to chop everything so figure day 74 actually.

I continue to see some clear trichromes- I want them all cloudy or Amber, no clear left. Bummed cause I have people waiting, but no bud will be picked before it’s time. I was happy to see the kushy gas smell and taste right thru the vape too. So, I need to be patient and let it finish, but Monday is about all I can go.....the Apex are waiting on the room.
